Well, it's always nice to have a day off from my job of picking pineapple and fire dancing for the tourists in Waikiki. That usually means a relaxing day of body surfing and stealing the purses of unsuspecting tourist that like to "mingle" with the natives. But a sensible board member, dov, has convince me that I've backed myself against a wall and if I'm ever to survive the torches and pitch forks I should just post pics and let the chips fall where they may. And after the initial and inevitable flaming things will eventually die down and it's on to a new drama.
At a tad over 6'1" I weighed in this morning at 183.2 lbs. A bit up from yesterdays 182.6 lbs. I took that as a good omen. So I did a quick carb load of pineapple and manapua and called a surfing buddy to be my photographer for an hour or so. I'm sure that's not how he wanted to spend the day and it didn't help when I began with, "This is going to sound so gay but can you...."
So this is what, as I've been called, an "old twink in the advance stages of HIV" looks like:

Living in Hawaii and being an avid surfer avoiding the sun is hard to do. Sun screens are worthless because they just wash off in the water.

Where I live it's board shorts and slippers. If you wear a shirt you're considered somewhat over dressed. Wear long pants and shoes and you get your ass kicked for being ostentatious and pompous.

My best head turning weight was 195 lbs. But I really had to work at it. Eating became a job. It's not really my thing. I still compete in Jiu-Jitsu and submission wrestling tournaments and it's much better to be lean. No matter how big and strong you are once you gas then you'll get your azz handed to you by a guy half your size.
I just try to train hard and try to get in good condition and just eat good healthy food. Not too much and not too little. And I just hope for the best and leave it to what God has given me. I never go hungry but I never stuff myself either. So I don't worry about it too much but I have to admit sometimes I feel the sting when I'm described, as I was by someone at work, as the "tall, skinny guy."

Last Sunday, on the beach I was out in the sun for about 6 hours. And it's not like I was out of the sun during the rest of the week. The out door gym is right by the beach and it's hot. So after training I always cool off in the water. What can I say? It's Hawaii. Sun and surf is part of the life style. Especially in the country part.

After living in LA for almost 20 years you have no idea how nice it is to be back home and in this environment. No manicured lawns and it seems like you can drive any kind of car you want as long as it's a truck. And people are real friendly. Poor by LA standards but we all sport great tans.

My weight varies from 179 lbs (sigh) to about 185 lbs. I'd like to be 205 lbs but I've learned to accept my body type. And I keep in mind that the standards are different here at GetBig. I mean, the general public thought Brad Pitt was big in Fight Club. And I'm bigger than that...um, right?

He moved to Vegas. But I definitely would have hooked up with him. He, MaxRep and myself were all in the same area on the mainland in the 1980s-90s. I use to go to a club where he bounced. He's a good guy and it's too bad he gets so much shit here. If you met him in person it would be different.

I visited Hawaii once (Oahu and Maui) and loved it. Thanks for teh great pics of your land. Teh gym looks like a cool place to w/o being right off teh beach. Hawaii is def a unique place!

You know chaos, I never got your beef with me because you seem like a good up and up guy. I understand the others on this board just piling on because I made myself an easy and irresistible target. I get it. This is GetBig. But with you there seems to be a genuine animus against me. Why? Because I defended myself against someone who targeted me? Checking back I found that it all started when we (Pandae and myself) disagreed on a thread about Stallone. I thought he looked good not only for his age but for any age. He didn't. Suddenly I became a Stallone ball licker and stalker. So I became another one of his targets. What was I suppose to do?
Anyway, although you're pretty ruthless and not above kicking someone in the balls and doing a little dirty boxing at least you never compromised your integrity and personal honor. You never felt the need to lie and just make things up. You'll stand toe to toe with anyone. You're a straight up street fighter and I respect that. I just don't get the hate. Well, it's Saturday and it's off to the beach. I know, I know, I should stay out of the sun. But sometimes there's more to life on just how you look. Unless you're a pro is doesn't seem worth it to have your life revolve around bodybuilding and how you look. Training and being healthy is suppose to enhance your life not be the end all and be all. At least for me.
I train 3 times per week doing a circuit/giant set type routine similar to what Milos advocates. I'm huffing and puffing but I'm done in 45 minutes. I don't do any cardio although Jiu-Jitsu training is good cardio. I never understood this thread mill/biking stuff. I'd rather be out on the beach or shooting hoops. Or if I want to walk or bike I'd actually walk or bike ourdoors instead of in a gym. Of course, I live in a rural area where I don't have to deal with traffic and car exhaust.
Also, I guess many feel it's healthier not to be outdoors and in the sun. I guess so. BTW, I'M NOT 50 YEARS OLD! I'm in my forties. Crap, it sucks to live a healthy lifestyle your whole life, take resveratrol and consume green tea with every meal just to turn out looking older than you are. I don't even have grey hair. Well, I do have a bit of frost that fortunately didn't turn up in the pics.

I live in Hawaii. I'm just down the street from the God of Hormones though he hasn't been around for a while. The place is starting to look kind of unkempt and the yard is going to hell. Fricken Mexicans too damn lazy to smuggle themselves across the Pacific ocean and do the jobs Americans won't do. You know, we don't even have a car wash here. I'm dead serious. Oh, you have those lame machine washes that are about two car length long and tear your finish apart. But nobody to vacuum and hand polish. I especially miss how in Redondo Beach, Ca when they were done vacuuming, polishing (even the rims) they would open your driver's side door and raise their polishing cloth in the air and wait for you to come get your car.

Maybe so because I don't use them. There seems to be a real stigma against locals using any type of skin protection. If you're with a group of your friends and after waxing your board you then start slathering on a sun screen things will start to get tense an awkward real fast. The initial looks of bewilderment slowly transforms into hostility culminating in a brutal beating. There's kind of a racial component to it. One of Hawaii's dirty little secrets is that it is the most racist state in the union. But because it's against Whites it doesn't get much play. Oh, don't get me wrong. Our state hates and fears Blacks just as much as any red blooded American state but with Whites it's different. A Black isn't going to get his ass kicked just for being Black. He'll still get his ass kicked but that's just because he's doing Black stuff (blasting rap, being loud and obnoxious, being with a White or local girl). But a White will get beat just for being White. In the public schools they still have kill Haole (technically meaning foreigner but now it just means White) Day. It's the day before Christmas vacation where you just go out and beat up the White kids.
So no sun screen for me.

Never been high or drunk in my life. Seriously. I took one toke of pakalolo on two occasions when in high school but that's just because I was trying to get laid. Didn't work the first time but pay dirt the second. I don't know. I really don't have any problems with people doing drugs or anything really as long as they don't hurt or bother anyone else. Whatever you want to do to yourself is none of my business. Eat so much so you become grotesquely fat or take roids so you become grostesquely muscular. Whatever. Want to smoke a fatty? I'd much rather have you do that than get drunk. It just was never my thing.
But if I did want to start getting high to relax a bit and not have meltdowns I'd much rather go with weed than alcohol.

I read his comment about eating and no wonder he isn't maintaining size. Why eat more than 50 grams of protein a day if you are not getting sufficient calories. Most of the protein eaten will be converted to energy. A huge waste of money and quite foolish for an expert in training to do.

I certainly have not presented myself as a know it all or an expert in anything. Especially on IronAge where I hardly posts at all (it's a bit too stuffy for my taste). That's what you do, Vince. Always the same refrain about how everyone considers themselves an expert when you are the only one who does.
What happened to you Vince? There's really been a big change in you the last few years. I still have some of the pms we exchanged on IA where we discussed training methodologies. Now you just come across as a spiteful, bitter, creepy old man.
