Never underestimate a decent looking guy with good hair, he’s literally done nothing to help cal since he’s been gov and it’s been on fire since he’s took over never mind the exploding homeless and car/retail smash and grabs. Newsom was even worse - he went to dinner, got caught, then lied.  When the lie was proven to be as such, then he admitted he made "an error in judgement".
