Good news in the baseball world today.

The Great Mike Trout probably will never be a New York Yankee!

The Angels are going nowhere.  Don't be surprised to see the Yankees take him off their hands in a couple years time.

Don't think so.

If Severino gets well, Sev/Paxton/Tanaka/Happ is a very good rotation.

The bludgeoning has commenced.

Paxton looked good today. 1 earned run in nearly 6 innings of work. He did not deserve a loss.

Hard to get worked up over 3 games, but they shouldn't lose a series to Baltimore.

How is this possible.

I thought originally it was just players being lucky in small samples, but Cashman seems to be onto something here.   20 person analytics department that seems to have a crazy success rate in identifying high potential players.

Feels like a new moneyball to an extent.

How in 2019 do they still not list AB's next to BA on television.

Its the dumbest shit.

Gives no context.

Neither are bad players by a long shot.  But, both are flawed and overrated.  And grossly overpaid.  I was hoping baseball teams would have learned a lesson and stopped doling out these ridiculous long term contracts.  If I was a GM, my policy would be 5-7 year contracts at the most, depending on the players age.  Under 25, I'd go 7 years.  Over 25-29 it would be 5 years max.  Over 30 would be 3 years max.

Its the freakin' money they are paid that bothers me.... NO reason for this and I'm sure plenty of fans feel the same.. way to keep pissing off your base MLB

Fans would rather see minor league'rs be given a shot than to pay .250avg hitters that kind of dough

The players get paid because the revenue they generate affords the teams to do so.  The Phillies sold something like 18M in additional tickets after Harper was signed.

If Bryce Harper got 15M per instead of 30M, that 15M goes into the owner's pocket.

You won't get it back in the form of lower ticket prices or concessions.

Best not to let it bother you.

I agree with you.  The players generate the revenue for the owners.  I have no issue with "bloated" salaries.  I just think the long term contracts are stupid.  In recent years, those long term contracts have hurt the Phillies and in recent years have hamstrung my Detroit Tigers.

100% aligned, also with your post a couple up on Harper/Machado.

And the evidence against LTDs is huge.  They rarely work out.  The problem is, some GM will always commit to it to win now and deal with the decline on the back end later.

Tigers?  Trade us Boyd please.

That's gonna be a controversial decision around these parts.  I'm really torn about trading him.

I’m not that familiar with your farm system so I don’t know what you need to add and if it’s worth it to the organization to give him up.

I will also never forget Jim Leyland for handing the Red Sox the World Series in 2013.

No doubt.  That was the World Series we should have won.  I hate the Red Sox.
