Which group, the secularists or the Islamists rebels? If we support the secularists rebels we had better be committed to supporting them for a very long time because if they defeat the Baathists they still have the Islamists to contend with. The biggest mistake we can make ,and one western countries have repeatedly made, is backing a particular side as a matter of expediant convenience.
