If Newt were serious about the gold commission and appointing someone like Ron Paul for Fed Chairman, then I'd consider voting for him.

newt could promise to appoint ron paul chairman of the fed - and i'd vote newt.  so would a big chunk of that ron paul base.

maybe even put it in writing, notarized, whatever.  I vow to give ron paul the power to fix the american economy.

but newt is business as usual, like bush2, obama and romney.

Newt was every bit a part of the "good ole boy" political network in the 1990's as any of them were.

I would not be surprised if that little exchange did not garner him 10 to 15% in the S.C. polls.

I've read several quotes from S.C. residents who said they changed their minds at the last minute and decided to go with Newt. Why? I don't think his points on policies were THAT overwhelming.

Ugh...
I cannot believe people are actually deciding theyd vote for him because of how he handled a questions about his fucking marriage.
WTF is wrong with people?
Where in the fuck did our nations brains go?
Oh yeah, I forgot, as soon as we started setting the bar to the lowest common denominator, people are getting dumber and dumber.

Horseshit. All this "civility", politicial correctness, and "making sure everyone feels equal and no one fails" attitude is going to be the end of this nation.

I think that would break campaign laws. I don't think a Presidential candidate is legally allowed to say who he would appoint to certain positions. That said, I do think Newt could work out a deal with RP behind closed doors at the convention. Newt has already come out in support of gold now and in the 80's... something could really happen here.

I'm not sure if RP could get Senate approval.  May get him in via a recess appointment, but that's always contentious.

Of course, does anyone have any indication if RP would accept or reject?
