I hear you on the cramps...they suck but there is hope.

A while back I got to where I was having some unbelievable cramps...pretty much all over...but the ones in my forearms, chest and hams were the worst...even tri's and lats were cramping up but not as bad as those other spots.

So what did I do? I started taking butt loads of potassium...and what happened? The cramps go worse by the day.

In the end, the solution ended up being pretty simple...of course I couldn't come up with it on my own, but that's why I rely on someone else for this kind of help...who could I be talking about? LOL!

He had me stop all potassium supplements, slightly up my water intake, and add in more sodium to my diet...I started putting salt on everything. Granted, we had discovered that I had an electrolyte imbalance that was causing the cramps...but the above solution took care of it. Now, I did not stay on this "high salt" path for too long...just until things got back to normal...took about a wk or so.

Now I don't have an scientific facts in front of me that could prove as to why the added potassium made thing so much worse...but apparently when things get this out of control, it does make it worse and you kind of have to regroup and go from there.

Hope this helps, because I know how bad severe cramping can suck.

Multi-vitamin or multi-mineral?

Like AJ CLEARLY said, upping potassium made it worse so I would not isolate one mineral in paticular. Minerals are tricky. Sometimes too low of calcium and magnesium can cause cramps as well.

You dehydrated bro, start pounding out your electrolytes like crazy.  If your dehydrated it can take weeks to actually fix the problem sometimes months.

Dehydration or over training.

Up the sodium and try to keep your workouts short and to the point.
