these $20k and under shows suck. Europa was shitty and NY was just as shitty. 06-07 these shows where loaded with good guys front to back. Now there lucky to get 4 decent guys and the rest are just nobody fillers. Whats being done to get some more money to these smaller shows, because they suck. Good ones like the IRONMAN aren't even around anymore. Billion dollar supplement industry and all they can muster up is $20k?....

yup, the winner of todays pga championship will win more than all prize money from first to last place in every bodybuilding contest male and female combined for the entire year. funny tho how Ron and chik argue that the IFBB pays fair
-
They should add a talent portion to contests... Maybe that will draw more people into being fans of bodybuilding...(As long they have more talent than not having a gag reflex)
-
nope...they still have no clue how to promote their product. i was in colorado when shawn had the CO PRO Show and the company took it up the a$$ dealing with shawn. word was past to the morons to let Dina, DJ, Monica and the girls work 16th St Mall during lunch hr and on saturday afternoon with contests, photos, dunk contests, hung a girl and all that good stuff and with the Hummer and Motor Cycle giveaway...not in the f##king ctr so no one could see. Dogs or not to you clowns on here those women would pull just as strong as the lingerie football league which heather mae french is apart of if it's only visual. they would have gotten better follow. then...set up some sales fronts in like vitamins...not the hard core nasty protein s##t the normal world isnt interested in. anyway...it's on them and the guys shooting up for pennies.
-
how much is taxed? $15,000 after tax?
should be tax free IMO

You are equating golf with bodybuilding? Competitive bodybuilding is a niche sport. Golf is played by millions, television contracts, and all you need is a stick to hit a ball with. Oh yeah, those sticks can cost hundreds, even thousands. Come on.
Many supplement companies support the bodybuilding industry, but it is just one part. Many people use supplements and eat protein. Athletes, and gasp, even some golfers.
In any case, prize money is one aspect. Supplement contracts, clothing contracts, magazine contacts and much more is another part.
-
For elite bodybuilders to compete, it costs much more than a set of golf clubs. However, whats the point of competing when it becomes more of an expense rather than beneficial for the athletes? $20k is a little on the low side for professional anything, especially an international niche sport with a billion dollar supp industry behind it. A guy could win a show and it hardly covers his contest prep??? They should scratch any show that cant get $50k minimum for prize money, its embarrassing for the sport. In the direction the ifbb is headed, who in their right mind would want to be a professional bodybuilder?..
-
nobody cares about "bodybuilding". people care about lifting weights and staying healthy and good looking. The lots of em.
-
Maybe if they accept how gay these shows are and use that as a marketing design, they can make some decent cash. For example, have some gloryhole booths and male dancers...oh wait, they already have the dancers.
-
the gloryhole booths probably happen at the hotel where the men in thongs stay, between the time of prejudging and the finals ::)
-
I'm sure some of the guys got some free protein out of their sponsers.

Yes, and that's the way the judges and schmoes like it! What would we do if they started paying enough in contests to actually make a living off of?! They might not be in such a vulnerable position as to be pushed into gay prostitution! And that would make all of our homosexual erections shrivel right up. :'(
