Will Bob dare ask Jay about the athletes rep situation?

Will Bob dare ask for Jay's opinion on the Shawn/Silvio/Milos scandal?

Will Bob dare ask Jay about the blatant corruption in the IFBB?

WILL JAY DARE HAVE AN OPINION?

These "exclusive" contracts of the bodybuilding industry are idiotic.

They prevent the bodybuilders from getting maximum exposure.

Any PR guru would tell you this.

Exactly.

Edit: But remember, this pro bbing. Everything is ass backwards.

Why is Milos not on??

That's who we wanna hear from this week!  >:(

How 'bout you have him as a surprise call-in guest when Bob's doing his segment? :D

Or better yet, do a "round table" with Milos, Shawn, Silvio, Bob, and Robin Chang!

Hey Bob, serious questions for a minute...

1) Do your relationships with the IFBB leaders make you a better rep, or worse?

2) If you thought someone could do a more effective job, would you walk away from the position?

Hey Bob, serious questions for a minute...

1) Do your relationships with the IFBB leaders make you a better rep, or worse?

Better, by far. It's the very reason Shawn stepped down as his working relationship with Jim Manion was not going to make for any progress for us...and the very reason that Milos is dreaming, as his is FAR WORSE than Shawns ever was.

2) If you thought someone could do a more effective job, would you walk away from the position?

Sure...whatever gets the job done. I'll stand by my record of getting proposals addressed and accepted.

Did you approve/disapprove of Melvin's method of calling you out on getbig, as opposed to contacting you directly?

And, would you be willing to meet with Milos face to face?

Disapprove...One should always get both sides before jumping to conclusion....Melvin did apologise and agreed a call would have been the way to go.

Are you (240 or Bust) aware that Ronnie Coleman is 43?  It isn't "all mental" as some would say.

You know I hate to say it, but, I agree with you on this. As much as I like Ronnie, I am not so sure that his age will not be a factor even with the hormones he is taking to modify his physiology.

Cutler barely won last year, and he won because Ronnie came in watery on Friday night.  I think in 2 years, Ronnie might be too old, but not yet.  I agree he is breaking down and is getting old man skin.  But if he's shredded, even with his flaws, he is going to make every other man onstage look watery and fat.

Coleman lost because his major weapon (his back) was equaled and beat by Cutler. Plus he was a bit watery in prejudging. The tricep is irrelevant bause Ronnie still has bigger guns than Jay with triceps or not.

Definitely - but I still think there is a chance Ronnie will win.  He is not too far off and he looks to be in pretty good condition for the off-season, so let's wait and see.

I think using his condition as a reason for his loss is just an excuse.  I believe it was due to Jay having the superior back.

Last year Ronnie missed and came in watery,.... many still say he won. But when he throws up that front double bi, or back bi he owns jay. Hopwfully that tricep/lat injury is better and he'll have the crown again. We all know big rons genetics are far superior to jays. Jay can hit it 100% and prob will, but he is still no ronnie with double bi's and freaky vascularity with no seo

If Jay could attain Richie Gaspari's condition at his size, I would compare his genetics to Ronnie.  Truth is, he obviously doesn't come close to that and doesn't come close to Ronnie as far as genetics are concerned.  Regardless, what needs to be judged is the best man of the day, no matter the genetics.

My opinion is that Jay doesn't respect Ronnie.  Simple as that.

Ronnie has disrespected Jay for years. And Jay quietly complained about it in a previous PBW appearance.

This is just Jay returning the favor.

He should know better.  We can make or break his entire career.  The judges and the weiders look at this site everyday, bad karma coming from us can place Jay right back in the farm wrestling with tumble weed....

do you think ronnie has ever respected jay? when he was winning, he kept dropping to his knees and refusing to shake jay's hand. he had that famous "jay been smokin' dat crack" line a few years ago, then the "one white man's opinion" line recently.

ronnie seems to think god himself wanted him to be mr olympia, i'd imagine jay winning in 2006 was evidence that satan was at work. what the hell is it with people from texas thinking god wanted them to win popularity contests??

I don't think that the segregation of the athletes to appear exclusively in mags benefits the wider pop of pro bodyuilders. This only benefits the upper echalon.. IF the IFBB did away with the exclusive contracts there'd be a greater pool of funds to share amongst all the bodybuilders.

Bob, the top guys will rise to the top regardless of the exclusive contract as will the "harder workers", those are the ones who will make themselves available for shoots with minimal notice and who will compete more than twice per year.

Theres probably two dozen (tops) who have these big $$ contracts these are the guys at the top earning the six figures..

IF these contracts were gone, only the top guys who work hard will get the big bucks, this frees them up to appear in more mags and not limiting their earning potential.

It's nice for all participating athletes to get something, but you should get paid for how much you are worth. Peyton Manning makes $30 mil a year, mostly because he's the top quarterback in the league. That doesn't mean every quarterback should make that much.

I view it as giving the harder workers (who maintain good condition and enter more than 2 shows a year) an opportunity with photo shoots and covers that wouldn't be available because of the contracted in the stable would have got first shot.

I see what you're thinking...but people ARE rewarded with persistance and hard work, like the Dareem Charles' of the world.

Bottom line is...they are the same guys...the ones with the better physiques. Hard work doesn't neccessarily give you a better looking body, or make one more marketable.

I concede Bob you make a valid point, particularly with your example of Dareem.. From what I know he doesnt have an exclusive deal with any mag yet save for the muscletech ads doesn't appear in a lot of magazines (AMI, MD, MMI, Ironman ect..) despite winning shows every year for the last 5 years and staying in good shape year round.

Right Bob, in other sports, say basketball, you can practice all you want but how talented you are will only get you so far. Some people are more talented than others, like Michael Jordan for example.

As long as the industry grows, more business grows and will in turn provide more opportunities for more bodybuilders.

Okay, but in an industry where the bbers NEED as much exposure as possible, how does an exclusive photo contract benefit them?

Some athletes in other arenas have certain exclusive clauses. In Terrell Owens' current contract, he is only allowed to speak on radio on his own radio show in Dallas. I guess it's an incentive where he gets guaranteed money for abiding by that rather than being allowed to speak on any show and not knowing how much $$$ he will get in return of that exposure. And of course, it gives him a much more controlled image by his management team.

It would be like having a job paying you $12 an hour rather than  being a waiter, as being a waiter you will have good nights and slow nights, whereas having a $12 an hour job you know what you are going to get regardless.

ou dont pay the bills with exposure...nor can you make your mortgage payment with the latest 3 page spread on your chest training...

An exclusive contract insures the athlete rceives a check, each and every month for services rendered. Some of these checks are as much as their Supplement contract (if they are fortunate enough to have one)...between the two, there are athletes making quite a nice living.

All an exclusive contract does is guarantee you a certain amount of money, whereas just going after as much exposure as possible, you aren't GUARANTEED anything and you don't have a clue of how much you would benefit in revenue for certain things.
