Those vids are so cool.

The audio is dubbed in.

That factory is the Dodge plant in Hamtramck, MI.

Gee, wonder where it all went wrong?

Funny how people will really ask this question while just purposely avoiding the obvious.

Japan made better cars in the late 60s and 70s and put the hurt on Detroit.

Detroit was making lousy cars compared to the Japanese and it finally caught up to them.

Tariffs kept the Japs out for awhile but they built plants in the States to get around them.

Once it became a even competition the Big 3 got their butts kicked.

Also was the rise of the unions (UAW) which increased labor costs greatly and basically killed the jobs.

You had the Big 3 sourcing parts from cheaper foreign countries and building plants outside the U.S.

Cheaper foreign labor, less regulations, lower taxes and there goes Detroit.

80% or so of a Ford truck is foreign made parts now.

at 4;10 the streetcar scene. almost all white faces getting off and going in the same direction then the lone black face gets off and goes in the opposite direction, very subspinous. :D

Very cool and sad at the same time. Imagine if these people saw what the future of Detroit looked like?

I noticed that black guy too, Funk.

He was most likely walking over to the white side to clean the bathrooms and such.

My guess would be similar to yours.  In the event it's not that, I'd say what we were witnessing was an out-of-work CoC (Cowboy of Color)  working the herd of human-heifers and searching for any ridiculously obese woman of non-color or color from which he would then pawn a hot meal or three from after culling her from the crowd to a corral and checking her out for any ranch branding mark so as to abide by the lines appertaining to these gentle bovines of early 20th Century.

Regardless of dermal pigmentation, hefty women-folk were often prized by both white and black men folk in the cattle industry for their excellent cooking and cleaning skills and were considered worth their weight in sugar, especially so during a cattle drive in winter as their extra heft insured survival for any and all that shared the snow covered ground with them.

God bless unions, trying to hold a gun to a free citizens head.

Turns out no one wants to be your friend if you're always telling the person giving you a job that you deserve more and will never be satisfied until our economic system collapses.

Unions don't just cause employers to close down and move elsewhere.

They create an economic environment where employers are afraid to invest.

Instead of investing in talent and infrastructure they're always scared to do so, because they never know when their billion dollar investment will be held at ransom by unions.

Last time I was in Detroit I75 was completely shut down.  That sign is the least of Detroit's problems.
