According to AmmoLand.com, data released by the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) reported 1,233,982 NICS Checks in October 2009, a 4 percent increase from the 1,183,279 reported in October 2008. So far that is roughly 11,403,417 gun bought this year.

The total is probably more as NICS background checks may cover the purchase of more than one gun at a time.

"This latest jump in background checks show that Americans are solidly in-favor of keeping firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens," Ammoland reports in an no-byline article. "This clearly shows that the Obama Administration’s OK to proceed with a United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, that could be an end run on our 2nd amendment rights, is in direct opposition to his claim that he supports the 2nd amendment. That is like saying I support the right to free speech as long as it is censored.

For more, go to: http://www.ammoland.com/2009/11/04/gun-owners-buy-1300000-guns-in-opposition-to-obama-arms-trade-treaty/

Of course, Josh Horwitz, executive director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence is pretty much saying just that -- I support the right to free speech as long as it is censored -- in his bizarre blather, What is the 'Message' Behind Increased Gun Sales?, published by huffingtonpost.com on Nov. 5.

How dangerously deluded is Horwitz? He justifies abrogating your Constitutional rights for all Americans because of what one or two deranged loons might do.

He asks three strange questions. His answers are belied by the questions themselves:

-- "Do you believe that the Second Amendment provides individuals with a right to shoot and kill government officials when they deem our government has become 'tyrannical'?

-- "If one or two individuals who believe our government is 'tyrannical' are not enough, how many individuals does it take to make political violence against our government legitimate?

-- Finally, how would the NRA define government 'tyranny'? Does having to live with health care reform that one disagrees with constitute being 'attacked by politicians'?"

I have a friend who owns a gun store.  His biggest problem is getting guns himself to sell since the demand is still so high.  Hes also pissed off at the cost of ammo and said he only makes a $1 or $2 off a box.

What happened to the part about Obama taking your guns away?

Or was that just mindless hysteria?

And that is going to help HOW exactly?

You gonna barricade yourself in your apartment and hold inflation off?

Well YOU might try.  Seeing you already have gone the duffle bag Zombieland route.

Its called buying things of value.  When the SHTF, would you rather have a Remi 870 that costs $400 or a Coach purse that costs $500?

BTW Lurker - My Remi 870 probably will hold up under inflation better than your Coach purse.

Won't matter.

With my Times Square Prada Manbag knockoff, I will still do a better job on the hordes than you will with your 870 and lazy eye.

Actually, I went to the range this weekend as was very good at 25 yards with my G26.  as far as my AR15, I am good to about 3" at 100 yards with the tac scope.

As far as the remi 870 - it depends on the ammo.

I honestly think Obama will try sometype of gun control once the economy turns around or after this medical fiasco is over.

Anyways...333, what slugs do you run through your 870?  I'm best with federal 2 3/4" rifled out of a smoothbore out to 60yds.  Cheapo Remington Sluggers are awesome too though!  I was pleasantly surprised(so was my wallet) for the cheaper stuff to run so well and accurate out of my shotgun.
