im on the fence on this.... if he paid into the system his wbole life, then im cool with it... he earned it. However, if someone hasnt paid into it and are practically living off it, thats where I have a problem.

Even the "paying into it" argument doesn't hold.  Inflation and rising prices always mean that you get more back than you paid in.  Most elderly have received FAR more in social services than was taken from their paycheck during their working careers.  Also, this pooling of monies allows companies to charge more for services than if people were individually responsible.  It's because of subsidization that prices rise.  Force hospitals and doctors to compete for your dollars and prices will fall.

Also, this extends to the military as well.  If you were drafted and suffered a disability then yes, you should receive government help.  But we've had a volunteer military since 1973.  While some guys have put it all on the line many put in their 4 years without combat or injury yet will be able to collect pensions and free healthcare for the rest of their lives.  Citizens paid for their training, housing, food and equipment during their service and now have to front money for their education and Healthcare after?  It's BS.  Nobody forced anyone to sign up...and that applies to politicians.  Some of these guys get elected, do 2 years in the House and then get gov benefits forever.   It's BS.  An the complaining about "paying into SS" so I deserve it.  Fine - give a lump sum of all your payments back to you, eliminate the SS tax and best of luck.

ideally, yes.... but with the system the way it is, I get much more peeved over someone draeing rhat has never worked a day in their life andnis just using loopholes to milk the system without ever contributing. Trust me, id rather keep my tax dollars and plan my own retirement.

Obama care was poorly thought out. They paid a contractor to write the law and no, the Democrats didn't write the law. "You have to pass it to see what's in it." The subsidies alone will cost this country dearly. It will cost this country a lot more than it did prior to it's passage and that Democratic talking point of savings is a lie. It has caused cancellations nation wide affecting people who were already paying for health insurance or had a portion of their pay used to pay for their policy. Even with the subsidies most people in the middle lower class will be paying more money than they can afford a month to get insurance with a high deductible that will make it worthless for many. What's going to happen is there is going to be a massive amount of people who would rather pay the penalty of $95 dollars yearly or 1% of your salary which ever is more. Then his socialist model will collapse running into the one payer model where health care will go severely down hill when the government regulates how much a doctor can make. Also small businesses are dropping being involved in employee insurance if they are under 50. Why should a business give any type of perk when the tax payers will pay the subsidy.

What should have been done based on the Mitt Romney model was if you don't want to pay for insurance you don't have to participate. If you choose there will be a subsidy based on what you make and how big your family is. Some of the changes like care for children till 26 would stay and pre existing conditions clause would also stay in effect. The reason why this will cost less is that many will not choose to be insured if they have to pay $500 a month for a policy with a $2000 deductible that will have you paying the doctor from your wallet until that $2000 is deductible is met.

This law will cost this country severely financially. The cost savings of the Affordable Health Care Act is propaganda for the sheep who buy these lies and manipulation. Yes, it was more cost efficient prior to it's passage.
