Congrats to Jeter and good for that guy for giving the ball back like that.
I'm not sure how I feel about that. I have to do some research, since I read that catching that ball is considered a windfall, and therefore subject to taxes, just like a lottery ticket. So you would have to sell.
But, I would have had no problem with them holding the ball and doing an auction, or trying to sell it for top dollar. It's just too much money. Plus, Jeter doesn't show up to anyone else's work and give them prizes for doing a good job.
A couple hundred grand is nothing to Jeter, who makes a little more than 100k a game.
