Title: I have taken my last drink for the next 4 days. This is my road to semi sobriety
Post by: King Shizzo on April 06, 2014, 04:15:48 AM
I am tired of being held hostage by alcohol. I just took my last drink. I needed to make a thread to hold myself accountable. Also because Getbig knows more about my alcoholism, than my family does.

Starting from 7:00 A.m. eastern time, I will log my trials with staying clean.

I am scared. I have heard of the horror stories of withdrawls.

If I stop posting in this thread, I am either in the hospital, or I am dead.

I will give you guys updates to how I am feeling. I will win, unless my body betrays me.

if you keep alcohol around it would be very dangerous for you to give in and go gulp a couple bottles.

i would say take some preventantive measures (throw the booze away) and have someone knowing of the situation that can put up with any upcoming hysteric episode.

good luck

I have no alcohol around at the moment. I can regularly go 16-18 hours without a drink. That is how I survive the work week. I think I might hit a wall at the 36-48 hour mark though.

I always find a way to drink someting within a 24 hour period. That stops now.

My first test will be later this afternoon. I almost always visit my parents on sundays. And on most sundays I try to make sure that I leave in time to go to the liquor store before 6 p.m. (closing time)

The first test: do I turn left towards the liquor store, or do I turn right to go home?

You will probably find yourself leaving early today due to anxiety to give yourself enough time to back out should you go home and want to go back to the store. Alcohol tricks the mind as you know.

It depends. During the work week? Probably 350-500 ml.

Weekends? I can do 750 ml in a day easy. Sometimes more.

This has been going on for 2 1/2 to 3 years straight. Drinking everyday is a problem.

In this case maybe you should have some valium on hand to help with the withdrawals? It can be a roller coaster ride and this will help with the anxiety and cravings.

No. I don't need to be surrounded by junkies and bums.

I will do this on my own. Like Drago says in Rocky 4, "If he dies, he dies".

Sure you are.

This is the perfect place to start a diary like this. Like I said, my own family does not know the severity of my alcoholism.

I don't ask for people to kiss my ass. Say whatever you want in this thread. This is my therapy.

I take your point entirely. Problem is withdrawals can be very dangerous if not properly monitored and in some cases medicated. I wouldn't suggest valium ordinarily but can prevent seizures, etc in long term users.

right
some proper advice from an actual substance abuse counsellor

the DTs arent what to actually worry about
its the associated withdrawal fits that can cause brain damage and or death
its not a great idea to stop completely
weaning off is better and safer
i work at detox centres that you can be referred to by a hospital or GP
the drug that helps with fits is librium
but small amounts of alcohol will help too
the first 48 hrs are hell
cravings can last for months
good luck

In an ideal world I would hope so. Don't know the severity of his addiction but if it is bad he won't want to exercise before he has detoxed. That is the danger zone and the time he needs to be very careful.

your comment about AA being no good as you don't want to be surrounded by junkies and bums shows you are already in denial as like it or not at those levels of vodka daily you are both and need the help of those who have been there.

Supervised Rehab...

The only way to go with alcohol addiction.

Ask me how I know? No, it wasn't me. It's a part of my life.

Trusting eachother on this board is not something you see people here ever do.

Trust me. If you REALLY want to quit... you will enroll yourself into a rehab facility and probably deal with A.A for the rest of your life.

I feel very, very sorry for people that develop alcohol and addiction problems. It is in our nature. It's what we do.

Of all the really tough ones to kick, alcohol is a above Heroin.

It will be a lifetime venture. It's always gonna be around you. You will need some kind of support, the kind of support that far surpasses what Getbig could even DREAM of giving.

I know we been fuckin' with eachother lately, but I wish Good Fortune to you my friend. You can do it. So, do it.

Alcohol is one of the few drugs that can kill you when withdrawing from it.  Seek help you stubborn alcoholic moron.  Go to a detox where they manage your withdrawals properly, at the very least, get to a meeting and grab a hold of some members with plenty of sobriety under their belt.  You are doomed to fail on your own. Ignore Cleanest Natural, the guy is a fucking moron who knows little about the seriousness of alcohol withdrawls when attempted by serious alcoholics.  Using valium is standard procedure with alcohol withdrawal.

If you aren't currently drinking a 5th of vodka a day, quitting cold turkey isn't going to kill you. Not even close. you may get some night sweats the 1st week, but that's nothing. if you are ready to quit, just quit. You don't need meetings, a hobby, get big, or Ellen & Oprah. You just need to be honest with yourself. It's only a liquid. Just look at it that way. It's a liquid. You are a grown man, no liquid will ever rule your life again. People will say it's not that easy, but it is. Just tell the liquid to fuck off.

You can do it. You just have to want to. When you get the urge to drink, just look in the mirror & say no. Fuck that liquid...

Do it.

I rarely drink and can easily consume a 70cl vodka bottle in a typical saturday night.

You're foolish to ever touch the stuff in the first place.  Besides the ill health effects, think of all the money you would have saved by not drinking.

You were also the guy who couldn't workout unless you took a stimulant beforehand.  You have an addictive personality and you'll never quit on your own because you're too weak minded.

SHIZZO, Good luck to you on this new "venture".

I am a truthful and knowledgeable  individual when it comes to the world of alcoholism and have been to more AA meetings than many recovering alcoholics.

I'v never been a drunk myself, but I do come from a long line of extremely alcoholic family members some of whom have died with an empty bottle of Smirnoff in the vicinity (none of whom had ever recovered) and I've escorted many a friend to numerous AA meetings within a good number of states within the USA.

I realize you want to do it on your own, but I strongly recommend AA where you'll be meeting some damn interesting people with some damn interesting stories from all walks of life especially if you attend meetings in the Los Angles area.

I suggest that you give AA a try if you fall off the wagon within the first couple of weeks.

And if you have any serious questions directed towards me, I'll do my best to answer them either here or via a personal message ... You decide.

Good luck to ya, Schizzo.

This ^^^

Strong will doesn't get you through alcohol withdrawal. It has nothing to do with that. shitstain needs supervised rehab. But now that others mention it, it's more than likely another desperate attempt for some deluded form of affection from us.

If she's trying to get clean, I wish him the best of luck. But I still think he's a fat piece of shit and a loser. I just don't wish harm on him because he's clearly a scum sucking bottom feeding pleb and has a lot worse problems than our opinion of him.

Hey, WES! How ya doing?

Coupl e of drinking questions.

What was your 'drink' of choice? Mine was Tom Colliins (Gin) for some unknown reason.
How old were you when you had your first 'drinkl'? I was 15 and drank with my dad.Do you remember Four Roses?  I think it was a Bourbon.
How many years were you an 'alcoholic' or simply a heavy drinker?  Believe me ... I tried but after two heavy drinks I'd either throw up or just not want no more.

There is a general feeling within my family that alcoholism skips generations .. meaning that I won't be an alcoholic due to the fact that my parents were alcoholics, but my kids will be alcoholics. And their kids won't,,, but their kids will... etc. etc.

What's your opinion on that subject? If any.

We talk about drinking problems often at family gatherings and stuff like this always comes up.

I will do this on my own. Like Drago says in Rocky 4, "If he dies, he dies".

Getbig is my AA. Seriously.

You ARE a junkie.  You are no better than they.  You have a physical and mental dependence upon a chemical.  If you do not go to AA, you are going to DIE.  This is life and death for you.  Going down this road, your death will be months in the making and EXTREMELY painful and unpleasant (liver failure, heart disease).  Your "physique" is non-existent.  Your constant posts on this website only help allow you to continue your reckless behavior.

Delete your account.  Go to AA.

Hey Stunt, hope all is well buddy!  ;)

I didn`t really have a drink of choice per se`,I would have drank mule piss if it got me drunk, but I was partial to Tequila and Jack Daniels, and beer of course.

I was a drunk for 33 years.

Four Roses was Bourbon or Scotch....not really sure, but I remeber it.

I used to sip beer out of my fathers stash......I was pretty young.......not too sure how old I was though.

As far as genetics go,I think there is a lot to it as my father was an alcoholic.

I drank mostly to escape reality...........realit y sucks at times but it beats puking on your shoes!  :D

shit 33 years, may i ask what finally made you stop ?

Shizzo is just trolling and looking for attention as usual, if he was serious about quitting he would go to rehab or AA or get some people around him for support, just the fact that he wants getbig to be his support group should set off some red flags but you guys are pretty gullible I guess.

Take it one day at a time.  Hope you have people to call for support.....It doesn't have to be a family member, since you said they do not know (they probably do, or at least have suspicions).  Call AA for support, or come here.....I'm sure there are former addicts here who were strong enough to clean out.  They will help you...... Good luck again - you can do it  :)

If youre serious about this, and your alcoholism is extremely bad, you will not be able to do it alone. Almost near impossible. Research shows that those who stay clean or stay clean longer have some form of social support.

Every heavy drinker experiences withdrawals. Many just don't know or understand what they are. Anytime you hear someone say they had a 2 day hangover, what's really going on is withdrawals. When you hear people say they need to stop drinking because the hangovers are getting worse. What's happening is a person is going into withdrawals as soon as the alcohol leaves the system...Most people would just rather say they have a bad hangover then to come to grips with the fact that they are having withdrawals...Good luck!

Many people talk about withdrawals being the worst etc. However for many people its the PAWS(post acute withdrawal syndrome) that is devastating to the mind and body...PAWS can last 6 months or even years and come on at anytime. Many think they are mentally ill or losing their mind years after stopping a substance only to be dealing with PAWS and not know it...

true to a point. Real withdrawals dont really start unless you've been drinking substantially for a long time period without breaks, and dont usually start for a while after stopping. Different substances have different half lives, sp where the withdrawals start are different from substance to substance.

Real severe alcohol withdrawals usually only happen to those people who drink day in and day out for weeks without stopping.

A hangover IS partly due to acute alcohol withdrawal.  That's why "hair of the dog" works, because it quells the physical withdrawal aspect of the hangover

not to be negative... but every time I said "this is my last one, im quitting." I failed.i stopped telling my family 5hat I was through for good, because I got tired of not being able to keep my word. Finally, one day, I told my father "I cant say for sure that im done, because I just dont know... I could relapse tomorrow, so I refuse to make anymore promises I cant keep." Shortly thereafter, I stopped. It was partially because I tired of saying it over and over, as we all know words have no meaning. I just did it.

Something about telling others made me think I was serious.... but it was just another mind trick to make everything ok for a couple more days.

When it came time,  I just quit, and didn't tell anyone I was done since. My wife has told people, my family "I think shockwaves done. Hes different. I can't explain it, but this is different."

I refuse to say im done, because that would mean Iv3 succeeded... which would allow me to let my guard down. I will not do that again.

right,  I wasnt disputing that. I was talking about the difference between 'I did something a little more than I should have and my body is recovering' hangover type withdrawals, vs no shit 'im an addict my body doesnt know how to handle not having a high content of alcohol running through my veins and I could have seizures from the CNS rebound' type withdrawal.

Shiz might act like an impulsive troll, but I notice a slow change in his behaviour during the last couple of months. I hope this is a positive sign...

not to be negative... but every time I said "this is my last one, im quitting." I failed.i stopped telling my family 5hat I was through for good, because I got tired of not being able to keep my word.

I mentioned something similar last time he said this. When you have to announce it, you're really not committed; it's to impress others. If you're really sure, no one has to know, 'cause it's for you.

Also, your wife calls you "Shockwave"?

Yes Shizzo was the kid who always begged his friends to meet him for a game of catch, but would always "accidentally" forget the ball, but would insist that they just proceeded to the post game ass-slap and partner assisted thigh stretching.

Ahhh. So if we get right down to business, the moral of this story is Shizzo played a season of football just to quit once he found out that the after-practice shower sessions weren't mandatory for all players.

Working out will be an integral part to getting sober. You're body needs physical activity to help repair and regulate your brains use of dopamine and serotonin.

However, in the first little bit, you need to be very careful not to over exert yourself... alcohol is a downer, so you'll naturally be up as a result of quitting... anxiety, blood pressure, etc. You don't want to push it harder and cause everything to skyrocket. Thats how withdrawal seizures happen. Your CNS will naturally be amped up and working out hard can overamp it. You'll know, just don't push yourself hard.

Well I just bought a 1 liter bottle of vodka. I have a sensible battle plan.

I basically went 4 days without a drink. Didnt feel any withdrawl effects whatsoever.

It will take me a few days to finish this bottle, and then I will go a week without a drink etc...

The goal is to get to the point where I only drink in social situations.

I respect guys like Wes who stopped drinking altogether, but I feel that there is nothing wrong

With a few drinks once and awhile.  I will be shooting for 1 or 2 times a month, instead of everyday.  8)

What a fucking retard.

4 days ago you were in mental anguish and no small amount of physical discomfort.

Now you feel a bit better again BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOT HAD A DRINK, so you will get shitfaced and in 3-4 days be in physical pain and mental anguish again.

And so the cycle will continue until it kills you.

That is not what I said at all. I had originally decided to quit forever. Now I am stepping back from that.

I can easily taper off by doing exactly as I outlined. Eventually, I will just be a social drinker.

People don't quit bacon cheeseburgers, or pizza, or icecream, forever. Right?

Why should alcohol be any different?

I was hoping you would post. Are you scared to take a drink today? Is it the fear of starting the cycle over?

I am of the feeling, that I can control my drinking. I do not see why I have to give it up forever,

This is partly the reason why I started this thread. I will always tell everyone the 100% truth.

I think I can do it the way I suggested.

All honesty dude this a recipe for disaster...your just looking for an excuse whether you know it or not.

I will next try to go a full 7 days without a drink.

The countdown will start when I finish this bottle.

Its an experiment boys. Lets see it to the end.

You are not normal. You're average, possibly subpar, but you aren't normal. You're depressed, lonely and perpetually single. You have even stalked women on here that I know.

I would urge you to re-examine your definition of normal.

I know what you are telling yourself.

You are still a complete retard because in 4 days time you will be feeling morose and remorseful about your latest binge.

People don't get physically addicted to ice cream. Heroin addicts don't just 'cut down'. You are physically and mentally dependent on alcohol which is the reason you got a bottle of vodka last night.

You can not even manage a week off booze.

You have not had some epiphany, you are just giving in to your addiction.

Interesting, I'm actually learning from this.

I suspect you guys are right, that this is merely a rationalization to drink again.

On this note: doing this publicly has the drawback that your mistakes are there for all to judge. This may interfere with your ability to learn from your mistakes. You are bound to make mistakes, and usually people learn from this more privately.

I see. From what I have observed people drink precisely for its physiological and psychological effects in its various ranges: relaxation; decrease in social inhibitions; escape from 'reality', etc. I can see how it is justified in moderation, but how often is this acheived? lol.

No way dude, not scared at all,if I wanted to drink I would, but I know I`ll just repeat the same old viscous cycle.

It`ll ruin your life, just wait until you hit bottom, then you`ll WANT to quit and will do anything to do so.

It doesn`t get better,only worse.

I wasn't talking about drugs. How do people casually/socially do drugs? It's either all in or clean.

Alcohol could easily be seen as a cheat food. Greasy, fast food is poison to your heart and arteries.

Shockwave and Wes, have you guys sworn off all junk food forever? I'm guessing no.

Don't even get me started on steroids.

Anything is fine (except hard drugs) in moderation.

alcohol and drugs are the same thing derpina. Clearly you still havent grasped this. And, believe it or not, there are people that casually do drugs and still live a normal life.

I dont know why im wasting my time ive already done this with you. Let me guess, alcohol is legal so its therefore not the same.

Alcohol IS a hard drug, no matter how you try and rationalize it.... one of the hardest, up with meth and heroin. Most physically destructive, bar none. Straight from the AMA.

the junk food analogy is pure bullshit. Junk food doesnt release massive amounts of neurotransmitters completely altering your state of mind and making you physically and mentally dependant.

Can`t you deal with reality?

I never could,so I self medicated with booze and drugs, but the reality was that I was just temporarily escaping my problems and responsibilities, and in more cases than not,my addictions created more problems for me.

There is a DIFFERENCE you can't see that? Are you telling me if I went from drinking everyday for years, to drinking like an average person, that you would consider that a failure?

There is a difference between an alcoholic and a social drinker. What will you tell me if I say: "Hey guys only drank twice this month." Will you call me a failure then?

document what? Being the 100 millionth person to try and convince others that he can really drink in moderation? To be the 100 millionth person to think hes different, that he really cab learn to control his drinking?

Newsflash - people that dont have problems just drink within reason. They dont have to struggle to control it. They're not on the internet trying to convince others that he 'really can moderate his drinking'.

Ah good point. I felt cravings. I was talking more about the extreme sickness, seizures, and death that other people associate with withdrawls.

Make no mistake Haider, I had the most serious cravings on the 4th day. Maybe I did cave in and try to rationalize it. I will try to go a full week this time ( I will give you the exact time that I start) and we will all see the results.

If I can go from 4 days to a week, then I know it can really work.

Listen carefully.

You have already failed.

Look at where you were 4 days ago. The fact you have no physical withdrawal issues is irrelevant. After only 4 days your need became so great you went and got a bottle of Vodka, convincing yourself that you will stop again after consuming it.

That is addiction personified.

Possibly. Then again, people on Getbig have suggested that I slowly ween myself off of alcohol as well.

So I have people telling me: "Do it cold turkey forever. Pussy." Then others saying: "Cold turkey is the worst thing you can do!"

We will find out soon enough. If I make it a full week, then progress has been made.

How am I brushing people off? I am saying to keep an open mind about alternatives.

You need a reality check. Advice should be taken as a collective. You sound like that I should drop everything and listen 100% to you. You are coming across as conceited. This is the only substance problem I have ever dealt with in my life.

I have never smoked cigs, weed, done drugs, or taken steroids. Why should I listen to you?

You are not that bad that you need to be weaned off booze.

I knew a guy that was bedridden - he'd call the security guards in the condo to get a bottle of Vodka each AM and it was gone by lunchtime. He was bedridden through alcohol, yet could not stop. He was waaaaaaaaay further gone that you and most likely cutting cold turkey would have killed him. In the end, he died of liver failure.

You have nothing to find out. You do not understand the subtle nature of addiction. Addiction is not withdrawal - that is one of the side effects. Addiction is that little monkey on your back telling you that you really can be a social drinker and so it's OK to get a bottle of Vodka on the way home.

How many of your friends, family and colleagues do you think got a bottle of Vodka on the way home? How many of them spent time even thinking about their drinking and justifying it to themselves?  How many people that you know drove home with a bottle of Vodka on the seat rationalizing that they were not an alcoholic but an out of control social drinker?

And how many of them just drove home without the subject of alcohol popping into their heads at all? How many of them drove home thinking about dinner, bedtime story with the kids, the movie they were going to watch?

Alcohol is a major part of your life and something that is on your mind because of that monkey on your back. Addiction is NOT lying in a gutter for most people. Addiction is like a mild itch. It can be ignored for ages, it could be ignored forever but it's just easier to give it a little scratch.

This is beyond stupid. You were miserable enough to make a thread about quitting completely, yet here you are a few days later rationalizing social drinking. So why make the fucking thread?

Just keep drinking, bro. But please stop with the endless pledges, because we all know resolve does not suit you.

No hate at all, btw. You're just much more tolerable when you aren't forcing your personal shit down everyone's throat.

Cheers.

How am I forcing anything? You have the power to choose to respond. I already said that I made the initial mistake of pledging lifetime sobriety.

If my plan works, then it will be an absolute win for me.  You cannot deny that.

Perhaps you can just comment in threads without the personal silliness. You were quite pleasant there for a while.

I don't want him to fail his social drinking experiment but that path his been walked many many times unsuccessfully. Controling your drinking is the ultimate cliché cop out excuse. I wish other people's mistakes were easier to learn from.

1.35 liters.

I picked monday because it is a good starting point. The aim is to control my drinking.

If I can raise it to a week, then I will have made progress.

Then I will decide what to do from there.

1.35 liters consumed from Thursday to Saturday AM.

If that's 40 proof, then that's one unit of alcohol per 25ml or roughly 54 units of alcohol.

Recommended is 3-4 units per day 21-28 units per week.

And you still have the rest of Saturday & Sunday to go.

Will you post new totals at the cutoff point?

Do we have a final count on the Thursday->Sunday binge-a-thon?

I had 2 pints of Asahi today after the gym. It is Thai New Year here and the family is away, so this was a treat for me. I was so shagged after the gym, the 2 beers just sent me to sleep.

Thank fuck for cruise control.

2.75 Liters as of sunday night.

OK - so 2750ml * 35 proof = 96250

Divide that by 1000 & you have 96 units of alcohol and change.

Recommended limit is 3-4 units per day. Or 28 units total per week - so you drank 3.5 weeks worth in a weekend.

So now 7 days off and another 96 units in 3-4 days?

I'm not sure I really believe you any more - but if you really did drink this amount and this is normal for you - you are going to die very young.

Depends on the beer - say 2 units per beer - makes about 48 beers worth.

Or a lighter strength beer - about 90 beers worth.

Nope - you already adjusted the plans once.

Pour it down the sink, give it away or admit you are a complete failure and vow never to start a "quit drinking" thread on getbig ever again.

If I had to do it all over again,I think I could make it on my first attempt knowing what I know today...............but I don`t know for sure, because addiction is a mindfuck more than just a physical addiction.

I used to say I`d never drink again........these days after many years of sobriety,I wouldn`t dare say NEVER because you never know.......can`t underestimate it at all.

Good luck man,you can do it.

It depends. During the work week? Probably 350-500 ml.

Weekends? I can do 750 ml in a day easy. Sometimes more.

This has been going on for 2 1/2 to 3 years straight. Drinking everyday is a problem.

A fifth in a day is a lot o drink. I have a high tolerance for alcohol. The most I have drunk in a day is maybe 400 ml. I rarely get drunk and never have hangovers. Perhaps if I felt like shit the next day, it would be easier to stop drinking, which would make my teetotalling wife very happy.

I have half a bottle of Svedka Orange Creamsicle vodka left. Should I drink it? You know for the memories...

After the week, I think I just might go longer if I can. Maybe it is wiser to give it up altogether.

Dump it out. Don't drink it. It's a choice and you should chose not to drink.

Then why don't you see my point. I am talking about going from drinking everyday, to maybe once or twice a month.

Where do you not see the progress in that? Why should I shut up about it? It is the diary of my situation.

Determined to be disliked? I am being real with you guys.

I've made all the arguments to myself you are making now about social drinking being alright. No doubt there is merit in cutting back for health reasons. There are people who are periodic drunks. They go through long dry spells. Sometimes these people totally binge when they do drink. That is not good for your health at all. People have died as a result of alcohol poisoning. Hang in there and stay strong.

Good luck Shizzo I hope you can stay the course and do whatever makes you happy. Remembering the hangovers and how low they make you feel is important for those times you feel fine or bored and start questioning why you even stopped drinking in the first place.

I think you guys were right. I can't think about casual drinking. I need to quit drinking for good.

Hiya Sh
I got through the first 3 pages of your thread then skipped to this last page.  And I must disagree with you.  What I would prefer (being a bit of a drinker) is the reverse opposite of what you say above?  I want to continue to be a casual drinker, a social drinker, a fun person at a party.  I do not need to reach the point where I need to quit drinking.  I can have a drink at a special occasion or any time I want.

But you know what? I dont think its a loss if thats all I have this weekend.

If I can limit my drinking to a fri and sat night thing, then maybe I will be alright.

Fyi..... My father does not drink. My mother has had multiple rum and cokes every night since I can remember. I honestly dont know how I didnt start drinking earlier in my life.

It doesnt help it when tv and movies sensationalize drinking.

Everybody is offering eachother drinks. They dont think of how that comes across.

Or maybe they know exactly how it comes across.

Take steroids for example. Instead of doing heavy cycles of alcohol, I am trying to see if I can cruise on TRT levels.

Honestly I think it's not good if you have to think and rationalize your drinking. Do I think you have a problem yes, but I also think it's something you can overcome if you have the willpower...you can already go a few days or a week without a drink so that's a good thing....if you were full blown you wouldn't be able to go a day without a drink.

...frankly I'm not a normal "drinker"...I've been on vaca and drank hard for 2,3,4 days in a row and I mean crazy amounts, mixed drinks while also doing shots....I'm not lying when I say over 10 drinks and the same amount of shots or drink 12 beers and also pound out tequila shots the whole time.....BUT I can also go weeks, or months without having a drink or craving, or wanting one....I haven't been drunk this year. I've had a drink or 2 with my girl at dinner every couple of weeks but that's it....softball starts next week and that will be the first time I over indulge in many months.

Let me tell everyone for the 100th time. The only other account I ever had was the 2morereps gimmick.

I only got that, because Ron has a sick sense of humor. He knew exactly who was asking for that account to be approved. He just wanted to see what I would do with it.  ;D

I have noticed that my drinking directly relates to the volume of my posting. I post like crazy when i am buzzed/drunk.

The key, will be to make sure my posts still maintain the Shizzo quality.

I do not understand you woman. You speak in riddles.

oh don't be silly, it's an old joke.  A glass is half full if you catch it as you spill it.

And the lying laugh:  everyone is the same height when horizontal?

I don't have a drinking problem...  No problem.  You fall over, I pick you up.  I get back up (although obviously I've never fallen over....

I have a neighbour who mentors at AA.  He binges once a month or week then rocks back up at AA pretending to not have a problem....

I do not have issues with booze.  It's legal.  I drink when I wanna and am able to do without often.  Too many calories.

take care babes,

India, I've also done most if not all of Europe, seen Egypt etc.  But I've never crossed the equator.

It's difficult to get a proper drink in many countries.  Maybe that's our problem?  It's too freely available and cheap and legal?  In England beer is less expensive than bottled water.  You choose your fate?

I am tired of being held hostage by alcohol. I just took my last drink. I needed to make a thread to hold myself accountable. Also because Getbig knows more about my alcoholism, than my family does.

Starting from 7:00 A.m. eastern time, I will log my trials with staying clean.

I am scared. I have heard of the horror stories of withdrawls.

If I stop posting in this thread, I am either in the hospital, or I am dead.

I will give you guys updates to how I am feeling. I will win, unless my body betrays me.

Oh Viz?

My Mum had booked to visit me from Cheshire (200 miles travel maybe?) to where I live in London.  Tomorrow she was supposed to come.  She's getting on and had pre-booked the golf cart thingy at Manchester main train station and again at London Euston.

Then Virgin Trains announce they're doing engineering works and taking everyone off the train at Stockport and putting them on a coach.  My Mum cancelled her visit.   It's going to rain anyways and it turns out that this will be the worst ever traffic weekend, the emergency services are on overtime doubletime standby.  The bus diversion would've been nasty.  I was so looking forward to seeing my Mumsy.  Oh well xL

I bought 750ml of Three Olives grape vodka.

How's your effort to dial back the drinking going?

I read the entire thread. He's making excuses and rationalizing his desire to drink. I am very familiar with these tactics. I am paying better attention then you know.
