I am the top 1% (not financially)

I make around 75k a year US. That's around £50k a year. I think that really puts me in the top 20% of earners but I digress. I don't come from money, but I come from sense.

I watch every penny I spend and make sure I save at least 20% of my salary each month, I buy specials where I can, and make sure I live on the cheapest packages of everything I need, etc phone line, internet, etc. I don't watch TV so no need to pay a TV license or Sky (like cable in the US). I never borrowed money to study as I worked about 3 years first saving before going to university where I left 4 years later with no debt. I took me 26 days from the moment I left uni to find a job. This was in a time where there were no jobs going. In my interview I offered to take a 30% cut in what they were offering for a year until I proved my worth. I was offered a job on the spot. I adjusted my spending accordingly spending 30% less across the board. I easily could've lived on that but I didn't save as much as I would've liked so I took a night job painting railway stations which surprisingly enough paid a small fortune. After a year my money was adjusted and I got an increase so I could sleep again at night as I didn't have to work.

I still kept on saving at at age 29 (I'm 31 now) I managed to buy a dilapidated house with land, cash. Well, bank transfer really. I done the house up myself.

I drive a 4 year old BMW I bought for cash from someone who overstretched himself financially and had to start selling stuff.

So I'm 31, no debt, own a house, nice enough car, money in the bank. All done on an average UK salary for a degree-level job.

All it took was sense, 10 years of very hard work and now I'm very much set for a good life. Not hard is it?

I will fella and thanks for the advice. I'm very careful with women and don't allow any of them closer to me than to stick my dick in them. I've been messed over once by a girl in my late teens early 20's and it will not happen again. My house is in a trust where my father and brother needs to sign for me to sell it. It belongs to the trust, not to me. I done it purely for reasons of marriage. In case I get married and divorced and the whore wants to come after me she'll find I have nothing legally. The car belongs to my dad's company, well, that's how it's set up. I still paid for everything I have, I just made sure it can't come back and bite me in the ass. A lot of people these days do things like this, purely because women can be so fucking greedy when breakups occur and I want to get married (if I ever do) without worrying about losing half my shit 20 years down the line. Now there are usual park rules there...no sleeping on benches...no overnight sleep outs...the typical and mundane rules etc etc. This park also routinely gets cleaned every night, now it hasn't been cleaned since sept 16th...and it's becoming a "sanitary problem"...I'm sure that's no exaggeration with people pissing and god knows what else all night long in the park...so it's no stretch to imagine how cruddy it is by now.

BAIF owns 75 percent of Granite Reliable. BAIF Granite Holdings was created earlier this year by Brookfield Renewable Power, which is a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management of New York.

That company, which runs clean energy operations around the world, has deep pockets. It reported net income of $454 million in 2009 and $3.2 billion in 2010. Brookfield Renewable Power financed the creation of BAIF Granite Holdings from its Brookfield Americas Infrastructure fund, which was reported in February to have $2.7 billion in assets. New Hampshire’s largest wind farm, the Granite Reliable Power project under construction in Coos County, is jointly owned by BAIF Granite Holdings, LLC and Freshnet Wind Energy, LLC. BAIF owns 75 percent of Granite Reliable. BAIF Granite Holdings was created earlier this year by Brookfield Renewable Power, which is a subsidiary of Brookfield Asset Management of New York.

That company, which runs clean energy operations around the world, has deep pockets. It reported net income of $454 million in 2009 and $3.2 billion in 2010. Brookfield Renewable Power financed the creation of BAIF Granite Holdings from its Brookfield Americas Infrastructure fund, which was reported in February to have $2.7 billion in assets. With that kind of backing, it is curious that the U.S. Department of Energy announced it would guarantee up to 80 percent of a $168.9 million loan for the Granite Reliable wind farm project last week.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced today the Department of Energy finalized a partial guarantee for $168.9 million loan to Granite Reliable Power, LLC. The loan guarantee will support a 99 megawatt (MW) wind generation project that will be New Hampshire’s largest wind farm.

Well now...454 Million net income in the 2009 and 3.2 billion in 2010....that's quite a rise in profits...

Now.....why would a huge and very rich company that had 3.2 Billion dollars in profits in 2010 need or be able to get a Loan guarantee for 168 million...which the Dept Of Energy announced finalizing on....Sept 23rd 2011....not long after the OWS protests started really getting going...a 168 million dollar loan guarantee with no visible reason why behind it....to the very same corporation that owns the very same Zuccotti park the protesters are camped out in....

Maybe they ought to form a circular protesting squad....

Also, the whole 99% thing reflects perfectly what a lie the 'American Dream' is. The opportunities are not really more plentiful than elsewhere in the modern western world but yet they're told since they were born that they've got a bright future as long they're chasing the illusive concept of the american dream... You're on your own! Be a strong individual! Go to college! You can make it happen! and then when the truth hits them like a semitruck in the face they wonder what went wrong... lmao.

There are a ton of people suffering worldwide due to the economy and failed policies, but I never see them whining as much as the americans.
