Norman Wisdom was better than most people realize.  Most of his bad reputation comes from the character he played, " Norman".  


His only American movie is also his best,
"The Night They Raided Minsky's"

wisdom was one of the pioneers of the H.I.T. training philosophy

I remember fondly him and the muntzer brothers going pose for pose in golds gym

following a brutal work out

he definitely was underrated

should have got at least one sandow imo

Bad reputation, what bad reputation?

Of being a corny and annoying comedian.  Much like Jerry Lewis has here in the States.   I first learned of Sir Norman from a visiting Briton.  He literally sneered and said, "Norman Wisdom is Britain's Jerry Lewis.  Just awful."

I think that probably comedians should never be in charge of the movies they appear in.
