I bought 700lbs of cinder blocks 4 80lb bags of concrete and a 7ft 1inch diameter iron pipe today. Happy as a clam wish id done it sooner. My gym aint coming back sadly...

Big Lou was a beast back in the day. I remember when he won the car deadlift contest in the Strongest man competition. He also did really well in the Super stars competition. Big Lou just had a bad day in the final after doing outstanding in the preliminary. Mentzer didn't do nearly as well. He was slow as molasses in the 100 yard dash.

Yup. Lou was very strong and if it can be said, more "athletic" than Mentzer. At least Lou, after two loses to Arnold ('74 & '75) didn't whine about losing and sought a profitable career elsewhere. I'm still a fan of Mike's but he really screwed himself into the ground over the '80 Olympia.

I agree Scott. For a handicapped prick who was raised by an asshole, Lou did quite well for himself.

How old was Lou here? Twenty-two? Maybe because he was so overshadowed by Arnold that he wasn't really recognized for the super genetic freak he was. I think more so than Arnold. To be so tall and so big and full. Few bbers over six feet can pull off a great physique. Too many areas where things can go wrong and since most of a person's height comes from their legs they usually appear skinny on a tall guy. Of course, there are exceptions like prime Arnold (though it was a weak point he had and did overcome in his prime) and Dennis Wolf (who wasn't quite six feet) but Lou was 6'5" and in that generation many had weak legs. If he didn't retire he would have dominated the Olympia. I can't see an in shape, even a 1974 version of Lou, losing to Franco, Zane, and Dickerson
