Good setup man. There’s so much going on. Maybe edit it just a bit.  It won’t look too chaotic and people can enjoy it more.

Edit the setup or the video?

+1 for last year.

how long does set up and tear down take? do you do it yourself? or have help?

I started a month ago. It takes about 100 hrs to set up since I do it myself. About 30 hrs to take down, organize and put everything away for storage.

Great stuff man, I love the ghost floating back and forth and loads of other stuff.

Are you neighbors cool with everything? Any complaints?

If you want constructive criticism then last years looked better, more fleshed out. Both still look great though.

The setup, seems you're trying to fill in every square foot.  Maybe space things out a bit so it looks cleaner and not like a Halloween swap meet.

Thanks for your honest opinion. I agree with you to a point. I do like to fill everything up and I think it looks better in person than in video.

Luckily my neighbors love it especially since hardly anyone decorates for Halloween in my area

I agree. I keep getting people coming to my house saying this years setup is my best which confuses me since last years was my biggest and best in my opinion.

Great job Yorkie!

Does your display cause traffic jams?  Does the local news feature this?

Overall it's super cool.  How did you get the swings to sway?  What are you using to get the ghosts to fly back and forth.  Also have you ever dealt with little shits trying to steal or mess around with your setup?

That's what I was wondering as well. He's a Halloween OG, and he does such a good job, that his neighbors, will keep watch, also.

You have punks that will knife a few blow-up decorations, because they have nothing better to do.

Oh no, I agree. I wasn't trying to put you down. I just like reading about the origin stories of our major holidays....Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas etc....

All have deep roots in history.

Shizzo I understand what you're saying but what is your point?

A new tradition would be rooted in history after 50 years.

Awesome set up MYL.

The swings have a swinging motor on top of each character. The ghost is on a pulley system. I did have a few small items stolen last year and the kids are ALWAYS trying to touch everything. I take all the animatronics in at the end of the night and put them in my backyard to prevent theft and weather damage.

Which is why I'm fascinated with those holidays. They have stood the test of time, and we still celebrate them today.

We are talking a few thousand years.

Thanksgiving..... Maybe not so much.

But Easter, Halloween, and Christmas are ancient.

I work in the studios as a Production Grip. This is just a hobby of mine since I love Halloween the most out of all the holidays.

Very cool. I briefly worked as a grip when I was in my late teens. It was hard work with long hours. In those days the studios were only required to give you 8 hours off between shifts. Since I was at the bottom of the roster, the work wasn't steady. It was crazy hard for a week and then nothing for weeks on end. A friend of my parents who worked as a painter for the studios got me in the door. But, that was all.

Your Halloween set-ups are amazing. People must come great distances to see them. Does it ever cause traffic congestion?

Thanks and I agree about the Grip life. I get anywhere from 1000-5000 people for the holiday season. I put the full setup on every saturday night and Halloween. I do get some congestion especially on Halloween.

That's awesome. I always enjoy seeing things like this for Halloween.

When i was a kid, there was a house down the street that went all out like this.

Every year the guy that lived there would dress up in some different costume and hide somewhere inside the area.

Wait for kids to get distracted looking at everything.

Then jump out and scare the shit out of them.

We knew it was coming but it caught us every time. ;D

Not sure you can do that anymore these days. Kids might get traumatized.

Shiznit you either get old or you get dead. I actually value older folk as they have experience at life and hopefully knowledge to be gained from.

Anyway, awesome stuff Yorkie, bet you get trick or treated all night long
