i'd like to hit these places no longer in existance....in there early form.
I did see the original Golds in the 70's along with muscle beach .
Went out there with a buddy and had a cheap, no frills "summer vacation.
Former owner Ken Sprague turned the gym into an apt and later sold it and it became a resturant.
Muscle Beach was a huge let down for me as were many of the famous old gyms .
What made the golden era of the 60's and 70's was a small, well known , group of bodybuilders.
I suspect, you and others would be disapointed seeing just the gyms back then.
BUT, if you walked into Golds in mid 70's with Arnold, Franco, Waller, etc all training it would be something.
Real hardcore bodybuilding gyms were quite rare back then and few places had one.
