Grand Funk Railroad.

"Sins A Good Man's Brother" is an excellent example of why.

wouldn't say best but these guys were very good

How can you not like a band that has a 6 foot 6, black, Mohawk wearing, gay, heroin junkie, bass playing frontman

Motorhead and ZZ Top are great shouts also Jimi Hendrix Experience, but it's got to be Cream IMHO.

I don't really see Rush coming into this one.

Since it hasn't been said , The Jimi Hendrix Experiment. Followed by Cream, and I'd throw Rush in there. Dudes voice is kind of annoying at times, but the drums make up for it.

trios are awesome because you make more $ per man.

splitting pay 4 ways isn't great.   Splitting it 5 ways?  not a chance.  No need for a rhythm guitarist, sorry!

Yup...I still listen to them pretty often.

IMHO their guitarist Ty Tabor is one of the best ever,  like top 10 best ever,

he's like Steve Vai except he knows how to come up with hooks and monster riffs

I was going to say this.  Though its cheating in a way, because Hendrix was like a small orchestra by himself. Unparalleled.

ELP isn't really a power trio. More Progressive rock. Excellent though.

i'll take Band of Gypsies over the experience. I know they were only together for a hot minute but Jimi did his best playing with them IMO
