Serious question.
I'm failing out of school.
I don't get the social skills for a service job, and I've destroyed my left arm/back through compulsive stimming so I'm not able to support myself long term working labor jobs.
So how can I get social assistance in canada.
-
Fuck you.
I don't want my hard earned tax dollars to go to you. >:(
Go to the US and bum off them.

So your saying I just kill myself instead, it seems to be my only other option. I'm not fucking around here.

What sort of compulsive stimming exactly?

highly repitive hand flapping to the extent my left arm and back are fucked, combined with working more than a few job full retard.

Go back to school and finish. I know you don't want to, but it's your only shot if you can't be a laborer. Take some saint johns wort too, it sounds like you're depressed.

Well it's too late I can't pass this semester, and I'd have to wait a year to go back.

as much as i think you're a giant douche...I feel sorry for you. i can't imagine how shitty that must be, to be a young dude in the prime of your life and thinking your life is already over.
Get help man, seriously...things aren't so bad, you are alive, you have a roof over your head, and you are young....you can do whatever the hell you want, time is on your side, for now

Wait. Hand flapping?

Serious answer. Google.

Enough of this bullshit.
I can get you an easy fucking job in the oilsands.....very light manual labor. Any site you desire. You could do this yourself actually.
Anybody can scrub a toilet no matter how fucked up they are physically or mentally. There are tons of jobs in Alberta...absolutely tons. You could even work at Tim Hortons....no manual labor required.
I have no sympathy....you could have started a thread asking for advice on what to do but instead you start a thread saying you want our hard earned money. Fuck that.
-
:-\
Develop a device which, each time you flap your hand, will deliver an unpleasant electric shock. You'll be cured and make a million dollars giving electric shocks to spastic autistic children.

No actually you ignorant shit, scrubbing toilets is the worst fucking thing I can do. Working in any form below my waste isn't doable.
I'd love to work. But with no education, lack of references, lack of social skills, and being in st john's job doing fuck all are hard to come by..
I want to fucking work, but it's not hard to contemplate that the economy in SJ is very narrow. Without connections and social skills it's gonna be highly repetitive labor. Something that I can't do, I'm 6 4 and with at best partial use of my main arm(left).
I'm gonna apply for security companies, however they may be picky, with a lack of references and the possibility my arm may get in the way of any physical tests I'm fucked.
This is serious shit here, I need a way to stay afloat. Otherwise it's 2 dozen beer and a tippy canoe.
Welfare was created for people that need it, I don't fit into any direct disability yet, it would seem logical to use the service, beform something more permanent happens.
-

You have no idea how addictive of a behavior it is. It's worst than ocd. I prefer it to sex, coccaine, booze, etc. I've done it to the point I can't even get pleasure from it because the nerve endings, and muscle groups are so fucked.
In fact the only way I can curve it is drugs, but obviously that isn't any better for me.

In all serious, a natural accident, such a driving a ski doo into ocean mid winter, or tipping a canoe drunk while the water is still cold in early spring is a far better option. If your gonna kill yourself it's easy to do without being selfish. Granted I'm not saying I'll do it, I'm just say if I did that would make sense.

Hang in there dude, isn't their some information line you can ring to enquire about social security benefits, or perhaps go see your doctor and ask for some advice. I'm from Australia, and we have a pretty good social security network, don't really know about Canada, but good Luck man, and if you are serious, ignore the haters, they aren't always aware how hard it can be to receive the hate when you are particularly vulnerable.

I'm too tall, and it's repetitive.
If it were just a few hours a week I'd be ok, but 30-40 hours a week at that type of job, combined with going to the gym on the side and my body wears out, I'll last a few weeks but not much more, worst of all it causes irreversible damage. I'm hoping to develop some better coping skills with the disorder, and eventually do something worth while.
However I won't be able to do that if I can't sit in a chair, and my ankles are too fucked up to stand.

You're an idiot. I've heard everything now.
Be a fucking WalMart greeter for fuck sakes.
You let your employers know you're a gimp and they will work aroundd your disability for fuck sakes. Especially at Wal Mart or McDonalds.
-

no, based on yours ::)
-
Any option we put out there you will somehow find something wrong with it.
What the fuck do you think you can do? Even with education? Anything that involves a computer will be too repetitive Im sure.

Compared to what, most customer servies jobs are what I can think of.
If you got idea's I'd love to fucking hear em. Problem is people who get on with the ideal jobs forget there not avaible for me. Trust me the lengths I've gone through to maintain working and it always fails.
The best I've come across is call centers, but the talking aspect of it, is over whelming.

This gets better and better. So do call centers that do surveys. All you fucking do is ask questions.
All you are is full of excuses.

Well it's too late I can't pass this semester, and I'd have to wait a year to go back.
Same thin happened to me, and with hard work and summer school I graduated a year late, but still graduated, just on the five year plan. Dig deep man, you can do it.

Dude I have aspergers you nimrod. Call centers can be stressful even to the average person. When a person's brain isn't wired for conversation it is that much more mentally exhausting. I've done it before and all I can tell you is there no better way to fuck with someone like me's head, by sticking them to a phone for 40 hours a week.
-
If you have assburgers then you qualify for ssd. Probably 700 a month. In Cali, you'll get 200$ in general relief and 40 in food stamps. Enjoy

the fuck, I said I'd look into wall mart greater, and working security is at the top of my list.
I worked at a 7-11 last year, 2 call centers in the past, a factory this summer, grocery stores, home depots, etc. I know none of them have worked. And have made things worst, with the exception of call centers.

Maybe work as a bouncer at a club to make a few bucks. You are a big, intimidating lookin guy. I'm not saying its a long term solution but at least you will stay busy until a better plan comes into fruition.
-
Believe what?
That you're serious about being a working man. You'll post pics of yourself providing security, working as a greeter etc.
Otherwise you just come across as a whiny bitch because I see 90 year old men working as greeters so I'm sure you can handle it

Dude, you have more than a legitimate reason to be on welfare. I don't have nearly the circumstances you have and I get more than enough assistance for food, housing, etc to not have to deal with the stress of working a menial labor job.
That's what this election was about. The people spoke, and they've had enough of rich pricks hoarding all their money while people like us suffer.
Not everyone is lucky enough to make a ton of money. Not all of us want to work our lives away. Not all of us are smart enough to party through college and still pass...and just might not feel like studying all the time just so we can pass our friggin' classes.
It's not fair to the people who aren't born rich or can just breeze through life and still get a job that pays big. Some of us don't feel like working away our best years in order to be able to afford the things we like to do...and this election let everyone know it.
Pay attention--it's a friggin' movement. You dont have to work some shit job anymore. The people lucky enough to have it easy are going to have to share a little bit of their good fortune. Wake up and take advantage of it

What a bunch of lazy fucking sloths.
It's simple....you work to survive.
It sucks you are retarded but at least do your fucking share and be that god damn Wal Mart greeter.
Sure many people make the big bucks but most have fucking earned it. I'm not going to work my ass of for you because you're dumber, lazier, or retarded. Not my fucking problem and I don't care if I sound like a heartless bitch. There are always charities and programs that will help you out and my tax dollars go to that. But I sure as fuck don't want my money going to welfare so the dumber, lazier and more retarded can CHOOSE how they spend my fucking money to survive.

Technically you'd be a sociopath, but I digress.
I have some health problems, that logically are quite unique, unless you knows tons of welfare rats that spend there days stimming.
For the record I enjoy working labor, which is part of the problem I used work to get the same endorphine high I get from stimming, to the extent that I am quite fucked.
I obviously wanna work but logically, I can't work now at the expense of causing me to be permanently on disability on the long term.

You ever accidentally slap someone with it? And then say how you can't control it, it has a mind of its own, etc? "Talk to the flapping hand."

I detect a bit of sarcasm here
To the OP, look into working a graveyard shift security gig. No people to deal with, and not that many people want to work those hours so you will have less applicants to compete with.

Work in a morgue. It will increase your creepy serial killer vibe and being detached you won't suffer dealing with the recently deceased. They make good money.
You've won me over retard :)

Don't move to the U.S. if you are looking to get on welfare. For the most part, welfare is reserved for people with dependant children.
If you have a condition, such as being autistic that causes stimming and this is what prevents you being employable, you might qualify for disability. I am not sure how hard it is to get disability in Canada. Here in the U.S. it can take awhile and not everyone who is disabled qualifies. Sometimes people with disabilities can still work.
Where are your parents? Why not get help from them?

Yeah as I said that was my top choice. I actually talked to a guy last night who said the companies are hiring for the xmas season.

in uk you just become a drunk and/or a druggy for full sickness/disability benefits.
infact i know people who see it as a promotion as such, to get signed from regular unemployment benefits to sickness benefits.
i know a bloke who has recently been kicked of the sick and put onto the lesser, unemployment benefits, he raging hard lol. nearly 50 and never worked a day in his life.
the lying, fiddling and conniving is truly fucking staggering you wouldn't believe.
this lass here purposely got herself pregnant in her 40s because her then youngest was reaching an age where her benefits would be cut and she be forced to look for work. infact, she has a grandson older than her baby ::)
a baby buys her anothe r ten years of full benefits which include getting her rent paid, local taxes paid, child benefit amongst others

Raising children is hard work when you do it right. I guess this woman doesn't get that, huh?
I saw a film one time about a woman living on the dole in England who had a gaggle of children. She was a single mom. One evening, she left her children to go out to the clubs. The apartment caught on fire and one of the children burned to death. The government took the rest of her children away from her. She then proceeded to get pregnant and they took this child away as well. They should have tied her tubes too.
Incidentally, the film was sympathetic towards the mother, painting her like she was a victim. She obviously was of low intelligence and the movie played on this for sympathy. Supposedly, it was a true story.

well to be fair, she's raised her family well and is a good mother and a fairly alright person. it's just that the prospect of working for a living didn't appeal to her to much :D
britain has the highest teen pregnancy rate in europe, maybe the world... having a baby is a ticket to a house a money
i know a woman who has played the system for years. she knows exactly what to say and do to get around the doctors and the system in order to stay on her various benefits. she has a young son in his twenties who has no fucking intention of working ever. and get this! he claims a 'cares allowance' for looking after his 'sick' mother ::)

Hi mate, I know I gave you a bit of a hard time here on the board- but, I'm sorry you're going through this.
I suggest you sign up for benefits immediately. Never mind the tossers who talk about hard-earned money, etc, etc. That's what welfare is there for, to help people out when they're down. I'm not sure I understand why you even asking how to apply for then, making an application is like a phone call and an appointment away in my country, I'm sure it's not different in Canada.
At the same time, start looking for jobs. If you find something, great, you'll spend a year working until you get back to school. If not, stay on the benefits, until you do. I would suggest moving back in with your parents, but given how you've been silent on this, I take it it's not option you want to consider. Just keep in mind, you might be forced to make unpleasant compromises, it's part of being unemployed.
I got the impression you started the thread looking for a bit of sympathy. I'll tell you what I can, everyone fucks up once in a while, as a matter of fact I failed a year in university too, so I know how that feels. Try to get on your feet and learn something from it.

Hahaha, that word gets to me. "Truly". No seriously, aside from from all the pissing about that goes on in the board, who annointed you to judge what peoples' real-life needs are? You understand this is the internet and we do not "truly" know each other, do you?

well to be fair, she's raised her family well and is a good mother and a fairly alright person. it's just that the prospect of working for a living didn't appeal to her to much :D
britain has the highest teen pregnancy rate in europe, maybe the world... having a baby is a ticket to a house a money
i know a woman who has played the system for years. she knows exactly what to say and do to get around the doctors and the system in order to stay on her various benefits. she has a young son in his twenties who has no fucking intention of working ever. and get this! he claims a 'cares allowance' for looking after his 'sick' mother ::)
The woman in the film did seem like an OK person. She obviously suffered some diminished metal capacity. She also did not seem to have a problem getting pregnant. As for whether she was a good parent, that is debatable.
Unfortunately, folks who take advantage of welfare and disability make everyone look suspect. There are many folks who, through no fault of their own, cannot take care of themselves and don't have families willing to take that responsibility. Without the benefit of public assistance, they would likely live horrendous lives and perhaps even die prematurely.
My aunt suffered from schizophrenia. When she was married, she somehow held it mostly together. However after her husband left her for another woman and took all six kids with him, she went off the deep end. Had it not been for SSD and her military benefits, she would not have lived to be almost 85 years old. My mom worried about her sister, but she was so volatile that there was no way she could have lived with my mother. My wife and I thought about taking her in, but we didn't think it would be fair to our children. Instead we adopted her 15 year old daughter and took care of her until she was an adult.
My sister was in a major automobile wreck when she was 18 years old. She ended up in a coma for almost a month. As a result of a brain injury from the accident and other issues she suffers from multiple problems, among them a serious loss of coordination, cognitive skills, organizational issues, narcolepsy and other problems. She has been on SSD most of her life. Never-the-less about 15 years ago she managed to get a job with the DMV through a special program for people with disabilities. She worked there for nearly 12 years. New management decided to end the program under which she was employed and fired her. Since that time about 4 years ago, she has been unable to find work. She is back on SSD and struggling to make ends meet. She is 53 years old. Chances are, she will never work again.
Not everyone who is on public assistance is scamming the system. For some people that is all there is to keep them going.

Most people aren't scamming the system. It's just a lot of people have no clue what real mental illness is. That is of course until they have to work next to it and do everything in their power to have it fired. The Hierarchy wants us to fight among ourselves. It lets them do what they have to do with very little resistance.

To be fair, Coach thinks the same thing but has told his life story on here and says he charged Credit cards up the ass and now can't use them because of bad credit. yet bashes people who have hard times and need assistance. That's pretty fukced up. When he partied with the soapy suds and shit life was great. But now that he's grown up, no one else can do what he did without being blasted to hell and back. WTF. What if I want 4 ex wives and bad credit and mooseJay's landscaper to soap me up for pennies on the dollar like Coach?.. Hypocrites suck :(
Lots of people, like my wife and me, don't always manage their finances well. When she and I were young and first married, we became over extended on credit. We a struggled to pay off our debt for a year or two. Fortunately, we learned from this and didn't repeat the mistake again. This sometimes meant we didn't always get new car when we wanted to or travel as much as we would have liked to. In other words, we live within our means. Although I do still have credit cards, I pay them off each month, using them as I would a bank card.

Forget welfare you want social security disability. Ask any democrat on this board how to get it. It's exploding the last 4 years. Say you have a bad back or better yet a psychiatric condition. Contact a disability lawyer and in under a year you will have a check for life, food stamps, health care, free phone and housing assistance. You can workout all you want because the problem in with you mind not your body. On the side you can detail cars for cash. Why would anyone work selling burgers when they can live the good life off the suckers who work and pay taxes?
-
Dude, you have more than a legitimate reason to be on welfare.
Wake up and take advantage of it
this is good trolling - if not, I hope a piano falls on your head.

Actually in America, people who collect SSD are actually just collecting "their" own money that they were forced to put into the system for social security...Not to mention all the people who die unmarried before the age of 62-65 who put into the system but never collect a penny for it. People who collect social security and SSD are the workers who put into it. If you've never put into the system, you won't be able to collect from it. You'd be a welfare case.

Never said I was gonna do it, I said it's a rather valid option numb nuts.
And the fact is if ya'll believe so strongly that I shouldn't use social services it's really all I got left.
And fuck you and all your attention bullshit.
Everybody seeks attention ironically autistic's are the least likely to do so. It's called socializing.
If you were half as smart as you pretend to be, you'd realize attention whoring is about seeking attention either positive or negative and not caring which you get.
I don't care for negative attention, however I'm socially fucked, so there's no way for to control what kind of attention I get.
I was looking for serious advice when I started this thread and I got some. Otherwise I think people got some entertainment that they should be free to have.

Pretty much fact.
Something me and avesher understood well too. Is the way modern employment is set up.
Rigid expectations of employers is the worst part.
Basic things like not being able to express yourself to your boss or customers etc, is an extreme stress on some people.
Or being expected to work regular hours, when you have mania, or depression it is not realistic.
The whole interview process which is essentially set up to filter out those with mental health problems. I mean really what the fuck else is it for?
There totally unatural concepts that humans had no need for until the industrial revolution.
Working is fucked up, and worst of all the folks with opinion typically have no idea how the economy functioned before modern times, why it functions the way it does today, and how the human brain at the greatest of times is poorly adapted for it.
Anyways if someone got an idea other than security guard for me I'd love to hear it, I already mentioned that one ironically, but I did have a conversation on the over night last night, and apparently the guys are hiring like mad. Also I bouched a drunk native from a bar last night, so I think I might have some skill for it, I'm apparently like the retard whisperer or something.

Ironically it's always the people that demand that people have the most accountability for their actions, simultaneously take the lowest amount of responsibility for there bullshit ideologies.

I guess things have changed in the last decade when it comes to SSD. My wife "retired" at 60 after working all of her adult life. The actual reason she stopped working was because she has a plethora of health issues. Besides suffering type II diabetes since she was 34, she had acquired all the health problems that accompany this disease. These include diabetic retinopathy, failing kidneys, congestive heart failure and a thyroid condition. In addition she has osteoarthritis, which was so severe in her knees that both of them have been replaced.
Fortunately, her employer was very accommodating, allowing her to park on the sidewalk near the entrance to the building where her office was and providing special technology so she could see her computer monitor. Despite all this, she was simply too sick to continue working and so she retired. Unlike many folks, she'd planned for her eventual retirement and has a decent pension. However, when she applied for SSD, they denied it on the first two tries. Eventually, she hired an attorney and was awarded SSD six months prior to being eligible for SSI at 62. Her combined income from SSD and the pension is about half what she made when she worked.
My wife and I are both Democrats. Here is how you get SSD: you get so sick that you cannot work at all despite the fact that you actually may have liked working. Then you apply for SSD and if you are lucky after a couple of denials (they allways deny you on the first try, I'm told) your lawyer will get a court date for you that is less than 2 years out. If you live long enough, you will start getting SSD checks. After two more years, you will be eligible for Medicare. Keep in mind, the amount you receive is based on how much you paid into the program over many years of working. So, do not expect to get anything near what you made when you worked.
-

I believe you have incorrect information regarding what one pays into SSI and what one likely receives back from it.
If you turned 65 in 2010:
Lifetime benefits: $555,000.
Lifetime taxes: $588,000.

Social security disability was made for a real purpose. To take care of those who are ill that can't take care of them self. Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat everyone can agree it's a necessary social program. What has happened though like any free money it has become corrupted by free loaders who work the system.
Near my house is a food pantry for the poor. A very noble cause. What happened though is people found they can walk out with a hundred dollars plus in food. Why would any scum bag use his money in the super market when they can walk away with free food? All of a sudden the people who run the food pantry said they never realized how big the need is. It isn't that the need is great. They are in effect giving away money.

Social Security: How much I pay, how much I get
By The Associated Press | Associated Press – Mon, Aug 6, 2012.
That is completely misleading. Get a calculator and find out what they take out of your pay check stub for social security tax. Not what you pay in federal tax. That figure is total federal tax paid by someone. It's incredulous that someone would use that to figure what they are (owed) in social security.

You would think folks would have to qualify in some way for free food from this pantry. Apparently not. It is despicable that there are people out there who will take advantage of others generosity. One can hope that the saying, "whatever goes around, comes around" will eventually bite these dishonest folks in the ass.
-
It's an honor system. No need to embarrass those in need. That's how the people take advantage of the good people trying to help others.
Your wife seems completely deserving to be helped by disability social security. Please don't think I was referring to her in any way.

The problem is with mentally ill people others think they're fine and should be working because they have both legs and arms. They can't actually see a problem. However the amount of destruction a mental ill person can cause in the work place is immeasurable.

Collecting your own money? If you pay into the system (social security tax) for 40 years you will get back every penny you put into it in less than one year.
Not quite. Right now the employee SS tax is over 4% and the employer is over 6%. That's over 10% of your salary. The employer isn't actually paying that 6% though. You are. That's the thing that's misleading to people. The employer is just passing that tax on to the employee by giving him/her a lesser salary. That's the way it works. It's all figured in...And the medicare tax rate is about 1.4% for both employee and employer. Again the employee is paying all of it one way or another which comes to almost 3 percent. So for social security and medicare, a person is being taxed about 13% of their salary. If you could show my the stats on how it's possible to use up all your social security benefits in one year after paying into the system for 40 years, I'd love to see those stats. Right now the MAX social security benefit is around $2,400 a month. However most people collecting today fall under the $1400 a month rage.

I hope you know that I did not think you were addressing people who genuinely deserve SSD, like my wife. I know there are always people who manage to scam the system. What pains me is that those folk who rip off SSD and other benefits somehow become the poster people. I suspect that most people who are on SSD actually do qualify for it.
I am fortunately a healthy person who does not need any help which should be reserved for those who do in any civilized society. But I do have some experiences that confirm there are people who absolutely meet the original intent of these programs.
A friend of ours who is very charitable, was telling us a story about a time when she donated help to a supposedly needy family only to discover that they were in great shape and were just scamming those who care enough to want to help those in need. There will always be people who take advantage of others generosity....and how pathetic is that? Fortunately, my friend is still involved with the group that seeks to help those in need over the holidays. Some people would feel burned and never want to help others who may actually need that help.

Are you saying if you make 100K you are paying 13K toward social security a year? Are you kidding me? Look at your pay stub. It tells you exactly how much you are paying toward social security tax. If you want to argue that 13K is being taken out of federal tax taken to pay for this entitlement you might be correct.
If the average person is paying a half a million a life time into it wouldn't it be better to completely get rid of it and give a person at 65 a half a million with no interest? I have heard these nonsense figures before and it's not true.
-
Can't drive I had a hypoxia induced seizure.
Tell me more. There are four types of hyproxia induced seizures. Which of those four do you have?

Its about 10% for social security and about 3% of medicare. Its not all in your pay stab bro. Your employer is paying over 6% social security for each employee and around 1.4 for medicare. Now the employer is not just paying that money out of the goodness of his heart for you, he's adjusting your salary to compensate for that 6% that he has to pay to employ you. But make no mistake, the 10% you and your employer are paying is all coming from your salary or would be salary. So if a person is making $100,000 a year, his pay stub might only show $4000 in social security and $1400 in medicare but the real number is about $10,000 social security and $2800 medicare.

You are so on target here. When an employer figures the cost of an employee they calculate all of this into the total cost of each and every employee. Anyone who, like I have, has bargained employee salaries, knows this. It is not as if this is some add on cost of having employees that your employer didn't account for. Think of it as a pie. Whatever employees cost in salary, taxes and benefits is a piece of that pie. Profits are another piece of the pie.
My SSI is almost at $1,600 a month. I paid into this system for approximately 50 years. I honestly don't believe I am the one breaking the system. My wife's SSD is just under $1,200 a month and she paid into it the better part of 40 years. Gawd, I feel really sorry for those baby boomers! Both my wife and I missed being in this category by a smidgen.
-
That bro science figures. I used your social security and medicare figures of 13%. Sounds like the crap AARP puts out. Look at your yearly tax return for social security tax paid. If you want to say your employer would pay you more if they weren't taxed that could be a valid point. What removes that point is that you assume you would be paying that raise in your salary into social security if your employer wasn't.
-
Its about 10% for social security and about 3% of medicare. Its not all in your pay stab bro. Your employer is paying over 6% social security for each employee and around 1.4 for medicare. To make it easier, the employer is paying 6% social security on your behalf and 1.4% medicare on your behalf. Those % numbers are not seen on your pay stub because they are numbers your employer used to base your salary off of and they're paying. If an employer didn't have to pay into social security and medicare on your behalf, your salary SHOULD be approx. 7.4% higher than it is. However the government knows that a lot of employers wouldn't pay higher salaries so they go after the money directly. Its just an accounting scam the government has in place. And employers like to bitch about because they want employees to think they're actually paying it and not you. Employers and the government are both in on the scam. And if and employer isn't taking it to account that he has to pay about 6% social security and 1.4 medicare for each employee and adjusting salaries accordingly, that guy shouldn't be allowed to have a business...

Tell me more. There are four types of hyproxia induced seizures. Which of those four do you have?
CO2 poisoning due to enlarged tonsils. Had them removed I'm in the process of getting my licenses back, however I got a feeling seeking out diagnosis might get in the way.
Apparently it's called hypercapnia or some shit can't remember the exact words the doc used it was a while ago.

Huh?

Ya its just an accounting scam that imop the government loves to use so it looks like they're taking less from the employee. And it keeps the employers and employees divided some what.
