i dont agree. squats dont do shit for me. never have. i do what works for me, not what others say works for them. and definitely not what is considered " hardcore" just so i can feel "hardcore"; thats moronic. my theory = any thing involving a muscle contraction = growth. how much growth depends on the rep range where you hit complete failure. and where you grow depends on what muscle was used for the contraction.
Before talking about theory, i think you perform squat too heavy.Do full squat with only one plates each and try to acomplish 40reps...Lets see what happen.Squat is that important.
i have done that before. for me the best exercises that have always put mass on me are hack squats and single leg leg press
why the fuck are you afraid of squats? doing them with a weight you can handle, in a squat rack with a belt and after a proper warm up, the chances of you getting injured are near impossible.
