I would have walked up behind him, tackled him to the ground and ground and pounded the shit out of him, and then yelled out, it's alright everyone, the GUN NUT has been apprehended. Maybe might even disarm him, and point the gun in his face, just to let him know what a douche-bag he is.

So, if I see a guy with an assault rifle heading into your kid's school, I'll just ignore it because it's obviously a law-abiding gun owner carrying an unloaded weapon. Problem solved! Thanks, dude!

Get charged/convicted for assault over it? Tackle/assault a law abiding citizen well within the state's rights to do what he is doing?

So how does someone go from being a law 'biding open carrier to a threat? Like what if you had an itchy holster and absentmindedly went in for a scratch while telling a popcorn stand attendant that he's an asshole if he doesn't know the difference between a Milk Dud and a Junior Mint? Could another open carrier justifiably shoot you? You're being rude and your hand is moving straight for the gun as far as he can tell. And could someone else, who didn't see you abusing the useless heavylidded slackjawed nosepicker and reaching to scratch your hip but saw the other guy staring intently at you and drawing his gun, justifiably shoot the dude who was aimin' to shoot you down, thereby saving your life?

What if it was a black man?, would I still be charged then, or would a black man carrying a gun under any circumstances be widely recognised as a crime about to go down.

It is in Indiana as well. The only place that will get the police called on you is if you walk into a bank with one. But it is rare that I seen anyone carrying. Probably once a year. The only time I ever open carried is when I used to fish bass tournaments and I would be going to remote lake areas.

Clearly if he was a black man, he would be holding the handgun sidewards (thug style), robbing them for all of the postal stamps they have!

Honestly, for the weekend business trip I spent in Salt Lake a few years ago, I cannot recall many blacks at all. On the other hand, there were a TON of pan handlers begging!
