MMA is far from a no holds bared encounter and if being honest there should not be any rounds or time out periods in a match. It's the last man standing thing. MMA getting close to the point of becoming WWE theater now. With some very suspect matches included.
Professional boxer, all boxing, is based on the athletic skill of defending ones self. That is a number one concern/skill and the counter attack to follow. If gaining a KO, than good for you, but never the main purpose in the original concept of boxing. That is not the case currently. The paying crowd needs that KO and quickly.
A professional street fighter (yes there are professional ones, usually backed by someones money) follow the mayhem idea. Give or take no quarter. The last man standing thing once again.
I prefer professional boxing and the skill of most fighters involved myself...but that's just me.
