At least Ronnie is man enough to fufill his Grand Prix contract

The guy has enough character to show up and compete knowing that he his battling for second place. I give him credit for that.

I remember back in 1993, after taking second at his Olympia debut, Flex Wheeler was suppossed to sweep the grand prix curcuit. Then he got Smoked in England by Charles Clairmont. Flex then flew own with all sorts of excuses.

Well comparing Ronnie to Flex is like comparing apples to oranges.....rotten oranges.  Ronnie is a warrior and a stand up guy.  Flex Wheeler is a lazy, spoiled, weak-minded genetically gifted bodybuilder who was always a poor loser.  Hence Ronnie is an eight time Mr. O, and Flex is.....well what he is today.

question, do these contract consist of appearance fees?

if yes are these fees greater than the prize money?

I doubt in Ronnie's financial position, he could care less about a $5,000 fine.

Yes if he truly didn't want to do it I don't think the 5 grand fine would be the thing stopping him. If anything it'd be what it would do to his image.

He did initially not want it but calmed down after talking to Lee Haney. 

Nothing wrong with that, who the fok would want to accept second best after winning for the better part of a decade.

Especially to a guy who could never beat you in peak form.

You're overanalysing.  It shows he values the show, he wants to win and he's passionate about it.  Why would you want people to deny thats the case.

I also thought that, after winning year after year, it was rude when would Ronnie fell down when he was announced the winner

Its a combo of the 2nd place checks he's collecting, which he commited to beforehand(travel arrangements, fines), the fees for guest-appearances and other revenue collected in conjuction with the events, plus he still needs to be available for other appearances, articles, shoots, even if he retires now, he's still gonna be collecting some cash for a while.

Its not like the posibility of not winning the O didnt cross his mind.

5k might not measure on Ronnies scale of income but three shows would have been 15k now who wants to lose 15k in one weekend think next time you type a reply.

I disagree I think there is everything wrong with that , the key word was Lee Haney had to talk some sense into him and if that didn't happen would he have went out on his own accord? we're all prepared to win and bask in the glory of it but when it doesn't go the way you antcipated you act like a child, thats nonsense .

It reminds me of when Bill Pearl beat Clancy Ross at the 1956 Mr USA contest , Clancy said " I've had a good run. Youth must be served. "  not a class move in Ronnie's part.

Agree by behaving like that Ronnie showed his lack of class and maturity..........funny he's 43 right to act like a high school brat is ridiculous.  He did not deserve to win and I'm glad they awarded the proper placings, I think 2nd was out of sympathy also as I had him a little farther back.

Ronie has always struck me as classless in both victory and defeat. When he wins he falls on the ground like an idiot for 5 minutes, without even acknowledging his opposition. And when he loses he refuses to accept it.
