Title: Serious question about Brad Castleberry
Post by: Man of Steel on May 30, 2008, 01:00:20 PM
I know everyone screams "fake plates", "fake weights", but I'll be honest.....I can't tell whether it's fake or not.   I'd figure if it were that easy to acquire fake plates and cart them into a gym with video equipment and a gathering of young idiots that youtube would be riddled with these videos.

So, is it fake or is it real?

Everyone screamed? Seems like it was mostly just one fatass who is now no longer amongst us.

Some guys can just move heavy weights. Take mATTc for example, he looks like a 150lbs of burning dogshit but can dl some heavy weight.

More likely than not.

Most of us don't wanna believe what he's doing is real, but I think he's just one of those freaks out there.....I've seen guys that don't look like much and do very impressive things.   My ego wants to scream "FAKE", but I think it's on the level.   I'm no expert so I can't really tell.

What the hell. Didn't you see that they were spotted benches? They were real IMO but look at how they were executed!

Bump, that is the answer.  It's not fake plates, it's simply using a spotter to help you nothing more or less.

There are some plates out that look just like the 45lb plates, but they are 10kg [22lb] plates. I've trained in gyms with them and always thought I should video myself - as I could slap an easy 2 plates {or even squeeze out with 3} and deadlift for reps appearing to be a hero deadlifting 225 all easy...while only hauling 130lbs.

Never seen them in US gyms, but have used them in other countries. Not saying this is what Brad or anyone does, just throwing it out there.

I train with same plates 5 days a week all are real and all weight 45.

Case closed and live with it.

Seems to work for him. The little posses around him love to kiss his ass but also seem to get motivated. Even the smallest trains pretty hard.

All positive to me at the end of the day.

Bodybuilding often = overcoming insecurity --> generates jealousy.

ego lifing is dangerous, and not good for mental health either... it's extremely easy to make fun of him so people jump on the easy opportunity... not to say however that there aren't people jealous of him... I'm sure there are. I just don't think as many people would make fun of him if he didn't do those clown lifts, or if he had a tad bit of of humility..

No one's gonna be surprised if, god forbid, he injures himself or tears a muscle in the future (if he keeps lifting this way)..

True on all counts.  I vote real.

Even if the weights are real, the guy uses 5 spotters and is doing quarter/half reps.

The deadlift video I've seen by Castleberry is actually quite impressive even thought he does have a guy "spotting" him on the weight. The spotter isn't actually applying much leverage based on the way he is crouching down and if memory serves correct, Castleberry actually pulls six plates off the ground, maybe seven, I can't remember. Still a very good lift by anyone's standards and I don't think the plates are fake at all - he's just a naturally strong guy.

Exactly, he is one of the strongest natural bodybuilders.

There are plates in my unigym that have the same diameter as 45lbs but are 25lbs and 35lbs......so they might be fake.... his bench with 6 or 7 plates should be impossible to shift left to right so easily...... his skinny buddies benching 3 or 4 plates each easily is quite unreal,

MAN, even Ronnie don't bench 4 plates that easily... :-\

He's is a couple of cycle away from being natural; still all the shitalkers wouldn't even be in his lift ranges by juicing like a Julep.

Hope this dellusionize.
