This is just insane, how can a back resist that without snapping?

But what I wonder is why would a competitive athlete risk a severe injury that recklessly by doing shit like that.

Yes Derek is one of the strongest guys in the world now. He won the Arnolds strongman contest the past 2 years. Yes he is stronger than Ronnie. He is a true athlete.

Just for the record guys he is wearing a Deadlift suit (like a bench shirt for deads)
Look at the last couple seconds of the video what looks like a Singlet says "Inzer Fusion" That is a Deadlift suit
Not taking anything away from Derek the guy is a freak but the suit helped, just figured I'd point it out for all the bench shirt bashing that goes on ya know :)

Easily a 100 to 150 pounds it rebounds you out of the hole like a bench shirt or squat suit.

Inzer makes the greatest powerlifting gear on the market I know casue they sponsor my bench shirts. The suit is made out of the same material as my shirts and trust me itsa got some pop. This is their latest and greatest deadlift suit this is what it says about the suit......

The latest most advanced technological suit design combined with the strongest, most powerful material used in powerlifting suits are put together to form the all new FUSION!!

Made from the Rage X material to give unmatched suit strength. Designed to pul hard through the crotch and keep your back upright more than ever before.

This suit is best for conventional lifters but can be used to sumo deadlift in as well.

The suit is so strong it comes in single layer only. It can have velcro straps put on it as a custom alteration.

See for yourself what this suit will do for your deadlift. If you're looking for that big deadlift, the FUSION can take you there

Also, this suit does not have the flare legs like the T rex..they are tapered.

Powerlifting and Supportive gear is tight and restrictive by nature. It may be confining and uncomfortable at first; that means it is working!”

"This is even better than my old Marathon Suit! I've been waiting for this suit for years!" -S. Ellis

Who would you rate above him? In March he trounced 6x Arnold Classic winner Zydrunas Savickas, who was considered by most who care about such things to be the strongest man in history.

I'd put Mikhail Koklyaev above him right now. The way I grade strongmen is their proformance across the major strength sports of Weightlifting, Powerlifting & Strongman. This isn't a shot at Poundstone, but he would need to put up big numbers in those other strength sports  in my eye to earn the title of true World's Strongest Man.

Koklyaev is a good choice, as is Savickas. Kazmaier could still be in the running. But you could count the contenders on one hand and Poundstone is definitely a finger, if not the thumb.  ;D

i don't see how a deadlift suit help by 100-150lbs. no way. i have used one it put 40lbs on my deadlift at my last meet. now a bench shirt does for sure..if you know how to use it. i have seen guys put 200- 300lbs on with a bench shirt personally

good point
initally I was impressed now ... Meh
if he had ditched the suit and done 800 fir a few reps that would have been more impressive
but clearly still a super strong guy ... The way he rested 800 on his knees :o

savickas had some injurie and health problems for the last two years, otherwise i think he would have won the A again

he has more natural strenght than anybody else for sure

(poundstone ist a bit purple in his face for me to be considered as naturally strong)

but i like poundstone s intensity - "lift it or die"

I was always under the impression you don't use a suit for multiple rep sets?

Maybe he should try and work himself up to 900 +lbs and get an olympia type physique like this

You can do as many reps as you want, but it is uncomfortable as hell. lol. I think that's why reps are generally limited in the equipment. Most I hit in equipment is three. Hit the occasional triple in the shirt and at the moment I'm on doubles in the squat.
