Mean Gene Okerlund has passed away...
« on: January 02, 2019, 07:58:56 AM »
WWE Hall of Famer ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund has died, aged 76.

A WWE statement issued on Wednesday confirmed the news, paying tribute to a true fan favourite and one of the longest-serving members in wrestling.

The legendary ring announcer and commentator made his name by interviewing the best names in WWE after joining the company in 1984, with the South Dakota-born great continuing to appear on the WWE Network’s Legends’ House until recent times. More to follow on cause of death. Sad. :-\ :'(

RIP Mean Gene.  The only reason no one is posting here is it's also on the G&O.

To which it shouldn't be on the Gossip board but nevertheless tonight's Raw should be interesting. Hogan and Flair both to make guest appearances to honor Mene Gene.

“Mean” Gene Okerlund’s son says the legendary WWE announcer passed away this week after his health began to decline following a bad fall at home.

Todd Okerlund told TMZ his father suffered multiple broken ribs during a fall at home last month in Florida. Gene had apparently been in bad health for awhile and this worsened his condition.

“Mean” Gene was admitted to a nursing home days before his death, but on Wednesday he began having trouble breathing and was rushed to a hospital where he passed.

Todd told TMZ his family has been touched by the outpour of support from the wrestling community.

Vince McMahon tweeted about Okerlund’s passing last night and said, “It was impossible not to crack a smile whenever ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund entered a room. He was the voice behind so many of WWE’s most iconic and entertaining moments, and the WWE family will miss him immensely.”

All famous deaths are reported on the G&O.  If it wasn't posted there most would not know about it as most posters don't read the wrestling board.
