went to the gas station and noticed they had yellow books when i was paying for the pump. Attendent let me have one of the 700 something page book, proceeded to easily tear it in half length wise (Grip and rip.. not v-ing the pages) and throw it in the trash on my way out the door. Probably not the typical customer encounter....

got myself a 115lb kettlebell for screwing around with and LOVE IT!!

it's not actually too big to work with...so i gave it a go today..

a few rounds of swinging and juggling (single flips)... and it REALLY worked my grip!  Did I mention it has a 2" handle??!?!

10 clean and presses per side (can't wait to snatch it)

some clean and lunge combos and left it be..


SOLID!

no serious pulling due to competing in texas state traditional archery tourney tomorrow morning so didn't want my back and biceps fried too much...

RT chins (all "+" sets were for re-grips and jumped back into the sets..no rest beyond resetting my grip)

grip stamina has obviously increased for REPS on this exercise..

thewickedtruth is that he uses a triple ply, hydraulic, denim shirt. Without this the bar is a challenge.

and impressive for 265lbs!? HAHA I've gained all my weight back and then some! Heaviest I've been but the big difference now is that before I put it on fast and developed sleep apnea..

this time..i sleep like a baby..only ontop of hte covers instead of under them since my fat ass stays pretty warm now most nights LOL!

all three sets easy and all three sets felt GREAT!!! HUGE PR! As far as I know that's a career best! Now I just gotta sit back and wait until the strongman event on saturday! Benching is really coming along and hope to put another 15-30lbs on the bench this next rotation!!!

videos of this weekend's shenanigans coming up! Ended up snagging 3rd in the heavies for a few reasons... the main one being the changing of events and times during the rules meeting instead of sticking with what was listed that I sorta trained for..


the one thing that makes me the maddest was the changing of the events. If the times given weren't changed I'd have placed first in two of the events... which made me run out of time instead of going to failure. The deadlift judging was crappy.. i gave the judge the "okay" that I was ready and proceeded to lift and was told to start over..that she never said she was ready for me to start even though I was on the platform forever. I was also told I had to wait for the hand to completely drop instead of proceeding down in the last rep the moments it moved even with the down call. Telling me this DURING my lift is kinda sideways...

log press for reps turned out to be a log CLEAN and press for reps.. needless to say I suck at that movement.


the tire flip, farmer's, and even the stones were a gas! Made good time on the farmer's and tied for first in the tire flip and stones from what I was told. Two events I thought I'd suck at. When it comes down to it in strongman.. it's not the biggest that ends up being the best. It's the dude that TRAINS for strongman and has the overall athletic conditioning and ability.  Also found out I can be pretty good at this strongman stuff if I tried.. so for someone that only deadlifts and bench presses I didn't do too bad.

Nice job getting 3rd! You are right, you must train strongman to win it. Thats the great thing about it! You have to be dedicated to it to place well, not just show up and lift heavier on 3 standard movements.

What I really like about it is when the guys with the big DL #'s come in and I still beat them, haha. ;D All until the DL medley that is.

HAHAHA bench pressing doesn't help your log press but if you can pull and pull heavy for awhile it tends to favor people in events like this one. The thing that got me beat in the farmer's was the turn...which you and i both discussed was shitty. Ran through the finish though which I believe was a smart idea. If I would've went HARD at the stone and the tire i would'nt have tied and instead took a placing. I definately can't wait to do another one. Right now however my focus is to take 1st in the 275's in october.
