Title: wraps/tortillas
Post by: 240 is Back on January 17, 2006, 09:17:47 AM
Do they make them in whole grain?  How do they taste?  Also, are they along the lines of brown rice, or more like white bread?

gi index and all that.  Thanks!

They make wheat tortillas & "low carb" ones. Both are pretty good & taste fine. I don't know were either of them are on the GI index though.

I've noticed that the low carb ones have an obsene ammount of fiber (something like 11 grams per tortilla).

1) that fiber likely puts them low on the GI Index
2) I'm not a huge fan of the flavor, but, when dieting, could be a lot worse
3) I think the fiber comes from added soy flour, wheat gluten, etc.

My uncle used to own Don Miquel mexican food.  He took me to the factory where he had the tortillas made.  I am pretty certain this was this company.  It is one of the only food manufacturing plants in the world that is so clean it has a hospital rating in cleaniness.  I think the company was La Reina but changed their name to this one

Agreed.  They come in a few flavors.  JACKED with fiber and very low in cals.

You can do a wrap with some deli meats, burrito with some ground sirloin or a quesadilla (pronounced case-a-dil-a) with some chesse and chicken.

um.  it's actually pronounced "cay-sah-dee-ya".  Have you seen napoleon dynamite?  Or do you know anyone who has?  Oh lord, you'll never want to eat one of those damn things again after you hear people saying something to the effect of "come get a cay-sa-dil-a"
