Dude has a genetic limitation but never lets it slow him down.  In fact, it gives him a look that helps a lot in movie roles.

Probably one of my favorite actors.  Always playing that unraveling character that really gives a shit.  inspirational for BBers everywhere.

Ptosis
Whitaker's left eye ptosis has been called "intriguing" by some critics[42] and "gives him a contemplative look."[43] Whitaker has explained that the condition is hereditary and that he has considered having surgery to correct it, not for cosmetic reasons but because it affects his vision.[44]

The Magical Negro is typically but not always "in some way outwardly or inwardly disabled, either by discrimination, disability or social constraint," often a janitor or prisoner.[6] He has no past; he simply appears one day to help the white protagonist.[7][8] He usually has some sort of magical power, "rather vaguely defined but not the sort of thing one typically encounters."[7] He is patient and wise, often dispensing various words of wisdom, and is "closer to the earth."

His eye follows its own vibration and is not afraid to be unique. We could all learn from it

You are correct. He played for ridgemont high but only flew in for the games and to take his little brother to the earth wind and fire concert
