Title: Wider than Heath! Need solid advice
Post by: booty on February 23, 2015, 06:35:11 PM
I know this is getbig but I need solid advice. Hopefully this thread doesn't then into a circus. Basically last year I didn't get anywhere with my training as a 660 gram fibroid / tumour was discovered in my uterus. I spent all of 2014 trying to reduce what I thought was lower belly fat. I was always doing cardio and weights was included however I made no progress. I got a myomectomy 3 months ago to remove my fibroid. The surgeon had to cut me via my previous c- section scar as it couldn't be removed any other way. It was the size of a baby's head. I started back at the gym 4 weeks later just doing brisk walking.

At 6 weeks I started weights. I am currently spitting my body up into 5 weight sessions per week. I haven't done cardio regularly because I did so much last year and because I am lazy? Strength is going up and recovery is fast. I initially lost 2 kilos after my myomectomy due to fibroid size and fluid from excess estrogen. So I weigh less than before however the scale is showing an increase of 1 kilo. My waist is smaller. Yesterday I was another kilo heavier however I got my period so it could be fluid. I am guessing it's muscle, fat and fluid. My diet is plenty of good fats, protein and yes carbs. I am hungry all the time... Big difference to last year.

I take magnesuium, iron during my period, milk thistle and 2 x DIM. I cut out soy milk in my coffees. So my ? Is should I try and cut or should I just keep building which will change my body composition? I tried to attach a pic which I took yesterday to show where I am at but it's not allowing me. Will get bigmc to post pic. Stupid glitches

First of, the scale says nothing.
Your body composition, combined with your personal preference (lean or normal) should give you a hint where to put focus on; a (clean) bulking or cutting phase.

Not happening. They are slightly smaller as my estrogen was too high while I had the fibroid.

I agree about scales. I got into the habit of using them too much last year.

Booty messaged me to post this pic since she can't do it on her phone.

Bigmc is also no longer posting on GB and has asked for his account to be deleted against my advice to simply take a break for a few weeks/months.

It's 5.30am here in London, I just got back from the casino. I am shattered.

Yes I pulled up outside the gym now.

Quick tip.

When one is training intensely in the gym, they should not be reading, thinking or posting on GB in between sets.

That's an extra 7lb of muscle a year right there.

Booty, you look much better than you give yourself credit.

I'd say enjoy yourself now and stop worrying about it. Eat healthy and eat well and clock your sessions in the gym and be happy. When the time is right you'll have a good base and you can take it up a few notches reducing cals and doing more cardio.

You had so much health issues to contend with and you got through it well. Naturally this would have set you back as to where you want to be but I find sometimes just being "ok" is a very good place to be at sometimes

imo, you should keep eating and focus on the weights, cut later. You seem to be on a good run so don't stop, eat good, train good. And since you like to have figure, I don't think you will ever be too bulky because you do it naturally anyway. You can cut later, which is easy for you.

However about what excercises, what type of lifting and how much, I advice you to talk to palpatine  ;D

My posting session had previously expired. So my post was to the point and I didn't go into too much detail. I am eating carbs such as rice and sweet pot with veges of all colours... Protein sources are 4 whole omelettes, chicken, fish. Fats are extra virgin olive oil, avocado and obviously what is in the chicken and yolks. I occasionally eat dessert with coffee if I have a date with friends. So my diet is not strict.

Thank devil. That's why I was asking for solid advice. I am on a good run making progress and I didn't want to stall it by cutting up too soon. I would like definition however if I reduce my calories and start doing cardio daily then I might stall my building as I will be in calorie deficit.

If I reduce my calories so that I am in calorie deficit will I continue to build as much muscle? Or should I keep doing what I am doing and slowly reduce bodyfat which I feel is happening. I am natty.

Just reduce your calories enough to the point of losing fat. IF you gain any muscle it will be muscle that you are gaining back through muscle memory. At this point you are not going to gain any new muscle ever. Just keep losing fat till you are as lean as you want to be. That is the one thing that you have control over.

You could take a year to just enjoy working out, relax and have your body rest for a while. You've been through a lot. Just enjoy the present moment for what it is and get it in your gut that it is the only thing we ever have. You almost lost it all, everything, every concept of what you think you are will disappear when you die. Might as well detach yourself from those burdens while you are still healthy and enjoy life for what it is...

At some point in our lives, we have to stop going to the gym for our ego and take care of our health, getting detached from our body that, even though we might not like it, is susceptible to entropy and decay...

And you know you look good...

So my ? Is should I try and cut or should I just keep building which will change my body composition?

Sounds like you are slowly rebuilding some of the lean tissue you lost over the last year. Keep doing what you are doing and don't worry about the scale.

If your waist is small that is the main thing. While it might be possible to build muscle and reduce fat at the same time it is highly unlikely in a natural.

So decide what you want and don't diet if you want to build your muscles. From your bodybuilding photos I would say you don't have to worry about

getting too big. You have plenty of female hormones to prevent a masculine look and size. Girls can always get amazing legs from hard and heavy

training. See what you can do there and don't worry too much about the upper body. Do the legs twice a week and at least 3 maximum sets for

the heavy exercises. Good luck.

I forgot to mention. Avoid activities that end up stressing you. Get 8 hours sleep and try not to stay up all night long!

There's nothing to sculpt. I think it's the way to look good is with these few more pounds, your face look hydrated and not like when you are really in shape. Beautiful sooth skin, more round and healthy look.
Stay this way booty.

I am not looking at the scales anymore. Just put on a skirt and it was all gappy in my lower back so my bodyfat is coming off. I wasn't lean enough in the above pic. It's my worst competition by far. I am sleeping well since I no longer get up 15 times a night due to my fibroid which was pressing on my bladder. I feel calm and stress free since my body is healthy again.

How much do you think Booty regrets asking for only "physique" pics to be posted.

This is pretty basic advice, but it never hurts to remember this. Listen to your body, it will tell you what is best for it if you can free yourself up enough to pay attention. Your health is what is most important, without good health, all the exercise and diet will be pointless.

If you want advice on how to deal with scarring, let me know. My daughter is up on all the latest ways to heal our skin and minimize scaring. She gave me lotions which have almost made the scaring from the prostatectomy I had completely disappear. She also gave me some fancy facial oils for Christmas that seem to be really good for my skin.

Thanks. I have good skin that heals quickly and doesn't scar too badly. My c section cut was 5 cm..so it's nothing I haven't dealt with before. Internal healing is more important and I am doing well in that area also.

I am not surprised that you have the healing process under control. Just don't try and do too much too soon.

I am able to hit my muscles once a day hard. Anymore than that apart from some yoga and my body lets me know via some pain.

You're still young but not as young as you once were. Expect that it will take longer for your body to recover from any punishment/challenges you put it through. If you aren't already doing this, think about working each muscle group less often. In my case, my best results occur when I work each part once a week thus allowing a whole week for recovery. You might do will with twice a week since you are still a youngster. If you overdo it, you will know it. Consider that a learning lesson.

bodybuilding forums are always full of white knights

why is this

They are here to offset the douchebags that think it makes them strong to disrespect women... Any man that does that is simply venting because in real life he is too much of a pussy to actually get a woman

There really is no need for you to be eating like a man, you have all the muscle Mass you'll ever need.  Cut the fats and meat and eat fruit and vegetables in abundance. Or eat low calories like Adonis says, it will work but you'll be starving all the time.

No offense but I am taking advice from people who have decent to great physiques only. I don't listen to twinks and trolls. If Ron wants to close this thread then it's his call.

Oh god here we go again. I asked Ron to make the call to close the thread. Otherwise let's keep it civil and not some circus. I know that's a lot to expect on getbig but it can be done.

This seems like a cry for attention. Do you really want advice. What is your goal. And why wpuld you cut? You have little to no muscle. Average build of someone at box Gym. And when you do cut youll realize just how little muscle you have. Why not take the time to build. Also training split wasnt detailed, diet not detailed. Goals not listed. How can anyone give advice?
