Ok im not a newby fan been a body building fans for many of years. To this day i still cannot figure out the hoopla surrounding jay cutler. I honestly think alot of it has to do because he is white with blonde hair, now before you call me a racist. I am white myself
when i look at jay cutler i see a short guy , i think he's about 5-8. with a very wide waist., just look at his olympia pics, a back alough wide is devoid of any detail at all. yates and ronnie kill him in lats, his arms are nothing special, he has good legs and calves.
Now , heres my point had jay competed against a prime, yates, wheeler, levrone, ray, dillett, and coleman, i dont thinkk he would even place in the top 6. Im not a big fan of ronnies, but jay cannot match ronnie at all, ronnie is bigger and more cut.
so jay cutler fans please explain to me the jay aura , cause i cant figure out why this guy wins every show he is in besides the olympia

I hate to say, but whatever Jay had to be Mr. O, is gone. His midsection is huge now. He was always blocky, with wide hips, but at least he had a tight stomach. Not anymore........too bad.

ive been saying this for awhile now. cutler shouldnt be second on the world and he shouldnt win the olympia when ronnie is done.

Jay hasn't proven he can consistently beat Dexter with receiving a gift placement... now he has to prove he can beat Badell, which although I do not like Badell, Badell was loads better than Jay at this years O.

Jay Cutler is the largest, most muscular bodybuilder out there after Ronnie Coleman, and at the Olympia, we saw just that. Not to take away from Badell, who in two years, jumped to the top three in the world, but these mass monsters rule the sport, at least in the perspective of the judges.
In terms of symmetery, Dexter, Charles, Melvin and others do well there.

Anyways, I too have never really understood what all the hype was. I mean in all seriousness, other than this year, when his back looked better, he had great legs, calves and triceps. And that was it. Wide blocky structure, wide waist-Jay was and is overrated.
but then again, in todays world of "mediocre" pros, maybe overrated isn't the right word.
Maybe "Lucky" would be a better word for it.
If this were 1993 or 1998 would Jay even make top 6?
Jay is lucky that Shawn, Kevin, Flex, Chris (in his prime) etc etc are not around.
The only one other than Chris who is still around is Ronnie.

I have always felt that Jay looks better either standing relaxed, or doing a non-mandatory pose rather than the mandatories themselves.
He looses some impressivess when he hits the mandatories compared to what you might expect when looking at him standing relaxed. For example, Jay has wide shoulders and looks great in that shot. But if he hits something like a front lat spread or a front double bi, it just doesn't have the impressiveness that you were expecting.
Paul Dillett was similar in this regard.

I agree with PS. Jay looked pretty good in 2001 and you could argue that he should've won. But every year since then he's gotten worse as he's put on more size. He's gotten worse, not better. He looks like a big blob now. He may be the largest, most muscular bodybuilder out there after Ronnie but he's a large, muscular blob.
So to recap: He's gotten worse since 2001 and now he's a big blob.

Jay is the only bodybuilder who can stand beside Ronnie and not get totally dwarfed, while being both hard and totally complete. He is the second best bod in the world. I too think the quality of Jay's physique has digressed as he has played catchup to Ronnie in the mass game, and do believe he should have one Sandow when Ronnie was way off. But, lets be honest. Ronnie reigns and rightly so until he decides to go fishing. He is the best bodyBUILDER ever. Period! As soon as he turns around, its over.

He has a perfect skeletal structure, long muscle bellies and he comes in dry on contest day. Having said that, he's not one of my favorite bodybuilders.

This question was very idiotic. Seriously, guys, Cutler has OUTSTANDING bodybuilding genetics. i fact, I'd risk saying his bodybuilding genetics are better than Ronnie's. He just doesen't seem to get it right, on contest day.

I agree with most of your critique, however what is ironic is that upon examination of the O pics, it is clear that Jay closed the gap in the back dept, but also lost the tight, ripped, flat waist that made him look better...go figure ???

They are very close now. Coleman's physique has started it's decline and Cutler has pushed his size to the point getting an insulin gut. Tough to call when both look like shit and don't get compared to anyone else.

I agree with Ron. Jay has so much muscle and density on his frame. His waist could be a little smaller in a perfect world but he managed to put so much mass on his delts that it still creates a great taper in the double biceps pose.
What impresses me about Jay is how, when he is at his top condition, his skin is like Saran Wrap clinging on his muscles. It's like water has been vacumed out. That goes for all his body parts.
One of his great talents is to stay in shape and be dry for photoshoots days after the show, a time when a lot of pros fill with water quite rapidly. I took this shot on a Thursday after the O in Vegas.
