Title: Duchaine's prophetic words
Post by: Van_Bilderass on March 11, 2006, 06:09:47 PM
Sandwich: Which top bodybuilders, pro or otherwise, is or was a homo prostitute? You mentioned that Titus was one before he went to prison.

Duchaine: Hahahahah!!! Did I say that in print? I don't think so. God, poor Craig. As much as I think he was a prick, and he probably still is, he really did not deserve that much time in Federal Prison for a drug violation; probation. I think he just barely got out this month, and that was way too long for the infraction. Granted, if he was just honest about his drug use, and didn't wanna waltz the judge around, and the prosecuter, and the probation department through a trial and all these falsehoods, he would have been out long ago. But, ya know, I don't need to say anything, because Craig is Craig's worst enemy. (pauses)Its not going to be an easy life for him.

Put down that shovel, Rocket.  If Duchaine could comment, it
would be something like "the chickens always come home to roost".  For
all his city slickness, he had country smarts.  Sensing he wouldn't
make it to 50 (profound number of hereditary diseases), he chose to
hasten his own death, partaking first in a great deal of hedonism.
Still, it surprises me how grossly disliked he was.  Did you not
appreciate his pioneering research in anabolics?

God bless Dan... hahaha... I always loved the weirdo! He was so antogonistic in such exquisite ways. He loved torturing Craig, and it was a funny sight to see at bodybuilding shows. He'd just let Craig bellow and blow in his face and keep the same placid demeanor throughout the eruption. Then he'd just chuckle and walk away. Gotta love him. He was meant for some parallel universe - certainly not this one.

you are so ignorant in your statement that it almost doesn't dignify a comment.... but i'm in the mood to lay some smack on ignorant ass pipes today so :
if not for dan we wouldn't be running sophisticated pct after cycles, we wouldn't have access to a huge number of ancillaries and anabolic compounds. unfortunately he also introduced nubain to the bb world but everyone within our little universe has some asshole type tendencies in their personalities, just look at what comes out of your pie hole fruitcake.

Sorry, Rock; my misinterpretation.  Besides brains, Duchaine had a lot of HEART
(I was kidnapped once by--oh, never mind who--and he assisted my escape), which is what I connected with--not his drug recommendations.  He knew he was
going to die young, and simply said, "ah, fuck it", and met his maker head on.  Provoking champs like Titus was his calling card.  He gave everyone a dose of exactly what they were allergic to.  Was fun to watch, but you knew your turn was coming.  Didn't make for warm and lasting personal relationships, which in turn contributed to motivate his self-destruction.  He, himself, was allergic to love.

I was hired to model for a speedboat company.  I had been communicating with the "president" of the company himself, and everything looked legit.  When I arrived by plane, "his people", who were also makers of meth-amphetimine, kept me under 24-hour hopped-up security--out in the boonies of Lodi.  Suffice to say, I never saw a boat nor a camera.  Just guns and a lot of fast-talking people who
never slept.  I made my escape on foot, leaving my purse behind.  Dan Duchaine got me back to Venice, and gave me a good scolding.  But events like this are NOT unusual in our industry.  We're even more vulnerable abroad.  When I dated "the Prince of Kuwaiti" (in Europe), I could only leave the premises when His Royal
Presence signalled the guards to let me pass.  (Needless to say, our relationship was short-lived.)  And in the Caribbean, while covering the Bertil Fox case for Sports Illustrated, I was abducted by several employees of a powerful drug lord who, at the time, controlled the island and was issuing death threats to foreign press.  They released me after ascertaining that I was there for Bertil only, not their boss, "Little Nut".  I've experienced other incidents of captivity, but those are much too painful for me to recall.  And you, Shock?  Would you care to share something "exciting" from your personal history?

I once was held captive in a strip club and lap-danced nearly to death. I was so far gone by the time I arrived in emergency, they really thought I wasn't going to make it. I reeked so bad of girl jam that the attendants at the hospital thought that I was beyond toxic levels of girl whiff... they thought I wouldn't make it! LMAO! Just kidding. Hey, I thought for sure you were John Romano...

J/K.. Sorry you had a bad experience. But I'm just curious how someone who does meth would FRONT with a speedboat company. This is perhaps more bizarre than anything else, is it not?

The few times I spoke to Dan, we talked of his increasing hatred of Bill Philips, of his plans on making some journey on some new bike and I remember talking to him about DNP.

The bill philips thing took me aback but then again, it was bill philips.

This is my first post(lurking for a long time), but I had to respond to this thread.

This has to rank in the Top Ten of dumbest posts I've ever seen/read!

Duchaine helped me(and many others I'm sure) learn how to use anabolics in a much safer manner, so I didn't crap out my liver/kidneys and keep my testicles functioning properly.

If you have some personal problem with him that's your business, but don't belittle his contributions to the sport of bodybuilding.

The following is an excerpt from the last article Dan Duchaine ever wrote:

Dick and Jane's first steroid -- by Dan Duchaine

"After a certain amount of time in this "lifestyle", most bodybuilders wake up and smell reality, and move onto the next phase of their life.  The subculture only survives because there's always a new generation of anxious adolescent boys to take their place.  The bodybuilding ranks are continually replenished by insecure little boys who want to scare their friends (and enemies) and be a sex object for desirable women."

Dan led many young men astray! Do you think that Dan could be burning in hell right now? That possibility was discussed in this article: www.musclemissions.org/public/99.cfm

Okay...my head is spinning.  Maybe once....maybe twice this could happen to a woman.  But when this stuff happens over and over...it signals that you either have a loose screw in your noggin or you tend to gravitate toward being a vicitm.  I mean come on.  How many intelligent, normal women would put themsleves in positions of danger over and over again??  It's not an accident.

Hopefully it was a phase you grew out of a long time ago.

Compared to other actresses who are flown all over the world on
seemingly legitimate jobs--which is what I did for years--I got off pretty light and consider myself pretty lucky.  And, although I can't boast being either normal or intelligent, I've recently refused VIP trips to Dubai and Majorca.  Err on the
side of caution, eh, Buff?

It's good that you chose to turn down the invites to go to Dubai..LOL..and Mallorca as I take it these were invites from miscellaneous guys with bank rolls rather than a fiance or steady boyfriend, right?

Invites like those are a dime a dozen, but the chicks who accept them are basically prostituting themselves out for the cash or the self esteem/bragging rights they think it will give them.  Hell, buy yourself a ticket to Mallorca, enjoy yourself and come home with real self worth.

You're a good Daddy, Buff!  Damn if you don't remind

thoughts very much.  I enjoy taking risks, however, and certainly
don't ever want to lose that part of me.  Shoot me if I do!
For survival's sake, I've learned to evaluate opportunities using
very sophisticated criteria.  If you could see the big bad
fish I've thrown back into the sea, I think you'd be talking differently

from evil, and I appreciate it.  All suggestions considered!

The bill philips thing took me aback but then again, it was bill philips.
He certainly had conflicting feelings about Bill:admiration for his marketing
savvy and resentment for his dependence on him.  Dan needed Bill, much the
same way Arnold needed Weider.  Bill recognized Dan's value, exploited it and enabled him to go legit and hold his head up.  Dan died from a broken heart.  The damage he caused a woman he loved absolutely devasted him.  Not the damage he did to himself nor an industry he helped create.  (He laughed at that.)  The tragedy that he "directed" in his romantic life was just too much for him to bear.  She had to have her leg amputated, you know.  How do you live with that?  Death was a relief.

Is this websight really serious?  Whoever developed this was really saucin it up.

Very accurate words about insecure boys wanting to be men through chemistry.  I have seen them for years.  They juice for 10 years and then realize they threw away their life pursuing the syringe.  I can't count how many guys lost their health, finances, education, and future careers chasing a temporary cosmetic physique.  In the end when off the juice the reality sets in that the body was just due to drugs and not something they earned.  Calling Duchaine a pioneer in steroid research is like calling a wino a chemist.  It's an insult to Doctors of pharmacology and PHD's in chemistry/biology. One thing for sure the cycle of insecure kids wanting a gorilla suit will take the place of the guys leaving.  Just like Duchaine said.

Don't mean to redirect the topic, but I recall at some point years after winning the 1996 Fitness America when she appeared on a episode of that ESPN show called American Muscle. Basically she was talking about marketing fitness to the mainstream and commercial culture.

Based on what has happened with other people who didn't have a good reputation, who would have thought that people would be talking about her in some murder investigation story in this post2000 time ???

Compared to other actresses who are flown all over the world on
seemingly legitimate jobs--which is what I did for years--I got off pretty light and consider myself pretty lucky.  And, although I can't boast being either normal or intelligent, I've recently refused VIP trips to Dubai and Majorca.  Err on the
side of caution, eh, Buff?

post your pic, you must have some pretty good stinky poo between yer leggies.

I was friendly with Dan the last five years of his life and I can pretty much guarantee you he would have gotten such a kick out of titus and his legal troubles.

I can imagine him now smiling away.

If Dan liked you, you knew it but if he didn't like you then you really knew it. He was a smart guy and I watched him torture people, debating them at parties, just making them look like fools.

He was a man of contradictions. I have read all of the previous posts, some positive and some negative and most of them are correct.

He was an eclectic man, he had unusual tastes and was very eccentric. He was also very interesting and could converse on any number of topics not related to bodybuilding.

MTC,
Was just thinking that very thing when I signed back onto this thread to read new posts...
Just thinking the same... that Dan would have been so ELATED over these developments. Not because he was a bad guy, but because he delighted in watching the process of people hanging themselves out of stupidity and well, just being them.

RAM,
Well why wouldn't I say it?  You do look really, really great!  Your face and skin looks amazing and it's a great photo.
Good for you.  (I've never felt that what I look like has anything to do with what someone else looks like)  :) :) :)

Shock and Awe, in Germany it is called Schadenfraude and it is loosely translated as taking amusement in other people's misery.

Dam would have received much amusement over this as anyone with a brain could see this coming a mile away.

Life always has a way or sorting things out.

MTC,
Thanks for sharing that German word. I love it! ;)
And yes, I believe as you do... life always takes you where you need to be if you don't fight it and rebel against it.
There are a great many clues in every area of our lives that tell us what to do and where to go. C & K obviously didn't
listen to that, and "did their own wills"... That's kind of a no-no in the scheme of life, IMO.

Anyhow, yes, Dan is probably smiling now, and shaking his head, getting secret glee from all of it. In fact, he's probably already hooked up with Melissa to pick her brain on what happened.   :-*

He had a deep throaty chuckle.  His eyes would squint.  Joy in restraint.
Damn, he really got a kick out of the physical culture.  Do you remember
his BB girlfriend "Trevalian", Shock, a young enthusiastic brunette he lived
with following his first incarceration?

yes, I do remember Trevalian. I interviewed Dan for MD around that time - he had just started making Clen Kool-Aid in his bathtub too!! HA! I remember he said the Feds had raided his house/ apt a bit before I went to his house for the interview, and he said they passed right over the Kool-Aid in the fridge. Dan got a kick out of that.  He did that throaty laugh and squint you mention, come to think of it.
haha.  What a character. He was like something out of Alice In Wonderland.  The Mad Hatter!

Then who was the girl who got into the motorcycle accident with him and got brain damage? Man, I had forgotten about that!  He had some bad luck with women.. or rather, they had some bad luck around Dan. Hmmmm... ::)

Was it Trevalian?  Or Caroline?  Dan provoked so MUCH turbulence in his intimate relationships.  His sarcasim didn't help him here.  Plagued by the knowledge that he would die young, like the rest of his family, he probably thought he was doing his lovers a favor by giving her so-MANY-reasons to leave the relationship.  Cops, drugs, prison, amputations, etc.  Who could hang with that?

Kisses, Buff.  Did you know Dan?  I met him when he was a serious bodybuilder, before he wrote his Underground series.  He was ALWAYS trying to get me to try a new steroid, or some newfangled electronic gizmo.  For my birthday, he gave me a vibrator--you know, the kind you get from Sharper Image that calls itself a "massager"?  I was SO naive then, I didn't know what to REALLY do with it.  I can see why many female BBs miss him.  He was so STIMULATING.  No
electricity required.

I ALWAYS encouraged Duchaine to write for the mags, and introduced him to EVERY publisher I worked with except Weider.  In turn, he encouraged me to pitch Sports Illustrated and accompanied me to a variety of events in L.A.  I NEVER wrote for Bill Phillips, but did coin the term "muscle media" which he used along with "Power Cafe".  Dan Duchaine was promoted in my writing whenever possible.

Metrosexual is the best way to describe Bill's magazing machinations.  And Shawn Phillips' book of gay torso poses makes me want to puke... not because being gay is bad - because being Shawn "Down Low" Phillips is pathetic... I saw that heap of shit of a book on the Barnes & Noble pile of $3.95 books the other day... I think the book on Tunisian Cooking was selling better.

Dan was classic.  TC =  Desperate AUTOMOTON    :-\

In England they use the c-word for men, rarely women.  I like that Metrosexual
word, and Tunisian Cooking (exposed to both the last time I visited Paris).

Burn through the bitterness, Tox.  Feel your feelings.  We can handle it.  I do
think there was a symbiotic relationship between Dan and Bill.  Bill legitimized
Dan and brought him to the forefront.  One couldn't exist without the other.

Works like a charm when slapped on a sore joint. But seeps through the skin and dissapates through respiration.  You will think you swallowed a frog. Do NOT drink, of course.  (See response to Toxic for better product.)

Instead of DMSO, an industrial solvent try MSM.  It's a derivative of DMSO that's approved for consumption.  Physical therapists rave about it.  You must take a TABLESPOON of it, however, not those little capsules sold in health food stores.  BTW, Frank Zane smears WD-40, on his joints.

For improved memory functions, I have a bundle of supps. recommended by the
leading Alzheimer's researchers, but for now, consider Vitamin E, ginko biloba and GABA, the latter perhaps the most amazingly effective and, so far, legal to purchase over-the-counter.  P.S.  I'm not the TC yer thinking of.  Sorry to disappoint.

Back about 20 years ago an accountant friend of mine did some major financial work for some Saudi prince and was given the opportunity to do anything in the world that he wished to do regardless of the expense.

I happened to recommend a climb to the top of Everest and since he was an avid high altitude hiker, that is what he decided to do; and I was invited to go along.

We did a lot of research and discovered that there was only a short two week period during the year when a climb to the top of the world was feasible. If I recall right, it was the last two weeks of May. And it would cost over $25,000 to join a group that would make the climb along with us. It is probably much higher now.

My good friend passed away before we made the actual committment so it never happened but I have been invited by family members to trek up to the Base Camp in his memory. They make that trip every few years and love it, but I never had the time or opportunity to make that trip.

I know I'm missing a phenominal experience.

Many years ago there was a major movie about K2. I think it starred a very young Bob Wagner and a much older Spencer Tracy. I plan to get it if I can find it on CD. I do recommend Touching the Void if you are really interested.

Sorry about being off subject here  but I have always had an interest in this subject.
