Well thanks guys, I guess it's time to get it on. Here's where I'm at:
---USPF (powerlifting) Nationals is this weekend!! I've been training for this for the last 12 weeks! It'll be my first time competing in squat and deadlift, and I am doing both of them RAW (no equipment). I'll be using a bench shirt, and I am going to try to set the USPF National record for the 132 weight class, which I think is currently 237 pounds. First, I have to make weight. I am about 133 right now...depleting for a couple of days and weighing in early Friday morning. The meet is Saturday morning.
--- I am 9.5 weeks out from the North Americans (bodybuilding). I am NOT sure yet that I am doing this show. I want to do it, and I am prepping for it, but I am only going to do it if I feel ready. I started prepping at 18 weeks out, so I have been dieting for about 9 weeks, on top of the powerlifting training. I've lost about 15 pounds. This has definitely definitely been the toughest prep I've ever done. And I am only half way through it. :P
--- Nationals is 12 weeks after the North Americans. I'm definitely planning on doing Nationals. :o
If I do the North Americans, I'll have 2-3 weeks to recharge and chill out a bit afterwards, and then 9-10 weeks to get back into it and bring something even better to Nationals.
So I guess it's time for progress pics? Right now, I'm focused on the PL meet this weekend, but I'll take pics and vids (hopefully), and then I PROMISE I will take 8 weeks out pics next weekend. Also, once the powerlifting meet is over, I'll move my training log from the thread on the powerlifting board over to this thread, and I'll just keep my training log here. I have never kept a really detailed journal, but I have found that the training log has been REALLY helpful, so I'd like to keep that up, and I'll be sure to put some other stuff in here and let you know how I am feeling, because I am pretty much all over the place. ;D

It was a good day at the powerlifting meet. I'll post the results, etc. when I have a chance.
Ok, so here's how it went -
SQUAT Judging was super strict!
1.) 95 kg/209 lbs - I did it pretty much just like I did in the gym, way deeper than I needed to, got stuck a little but got it fine. Got two redlights and didn't even realize it. I had no idea I missed the lift, so I submitted 242 for my second attempt until someone asked me why I missed my first one, and I was like huh ??? They said I double bounced it at the bottom. So they let me change my second attempt.
2.) 100 kg/220 lbs - I went up anyway but not as much. I got this one, but I still got a red light from the head judge, who said that I kind of dropped my chest a little too much or something ???
3.) 110 kg/242 lbs - three white lights. It was only the second squat of the day so far to get three white lights. :o
BENCH
WPF world record attempts get all three commands - start, press, and rack. Judging was strict, and it was hard!
1.) 102.5 kg/225 lbs - three white lights. Good Lift. WPF World Record for the 132 weight class. 8)
2.) 110 kg/242 lbs - this was for the world record again and the USPF National record, so I had all three commands. I pressed the weight, but I lifted my ass. No lift.
3.) 110 kg/242 lbs - I pressed the weight, kept my ass down, but stalled it a little and got two red lights for hitching on one side. No lift.
DEADLIFT
1.) 117.5 kg/259 lbs - Good lift.
2.) 127.5 kg/281 lbs - Good lift. Head judge said I rolled my shoulders a bit but I don't know if I got any red flags.
3.) 137.5 kg/303 lbs - Good lift. ALL BACK. Holy shit, I saw the video clip of this lift...as soon as I began to pull, my ass went straight up and I totally lifted the whole thing with my back, it was ridiculous. I don't recommend deadlifting like that, my back is killing me tonight.
So I finished off with a 242/226/303 and 771 total. I'm happy with that, especially considering I am dieting my ass off and did tons of cardio right through the entire prep for this meet. I am slightly disappointed about the bench because I was really close with those lifts. The judging was tight, though, and I wasn't really looking for a gift. Looking at the vids, I dropped my left shoulder ever so slightly.
This was the lightweight day, and there were four women competing total. I won the women's best overall lifter for the Bench, Deadlift, and Powerlifting Nationals. One woman pulled more than me by quite a bit, and I was really surprised to get the overall in the deadlift, but she was in the 148 weight class.
I talked to the Titan rep who was at the meet, and he ended up taking my bench shirt with him. He pulled out a new F6 in the same size as mine, and it's unbelieveable how much that shirt is stretched. Combine that with the fact that I lost 17 pounds, and it looks to be time for a new shirt. I think I'm pretty lucky I got what I did out of it at this meet. Before we get a new one, he is going to lower the neck in my F6 and tighten up the chest plate and reinforce all of the seams. I'm psyched about that.

Thanks guys! I LOVED the training for this meet... would have loved it even more without the diet and cardio, but I'm already looking forward to next off-season. I can't wait to try out a squat suit next year!
I also think the powerlifting helped me to make some gains with my physique for bodybuilding. You'll see what the squatting has done to my legs in the video clips. My legs come down quite a bit when I get lean, but they are pretty damn large right now.

I am STILL sore from the Powerlifting meet last weekend. My lower back is in rough shape. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take the week off to recover. I took Sunday off (just rode the bike a little), and then got back to it on Monday. I got my double cardios in every day this week so far and did some light weight training. I did a bunch of stuff that I hadn't done in a long time and just tried to keep it light and high-rep until I can fully recover.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 2
AM - Cardio, elliptical 54 minutes (don't ask, I sometimes pick weird and random amounts of time)
PM - LEGS (Light)
---Leg Press (sled) - two plates per side, 3 sets x 12. very tough on the lower back, so I had to keep them a bit shallow and not too heavy
----Seated Calf Raises - 5 sets x15
----Leg Extensions - 3 sets both legs together x 10-12, 2 sets one leg at a time x 10. Held these at the top for nice, long squeezes
----Seated hammy curls - 3 sets x 12
---Cardio - 30 minutes on the stair climber (brutal)
One thing I came to realize really quickly is that my squat and deadlift workouts for powerlifting are just about all I need to train my lower body adequately. With the exception of leg extensions and calf machines (and maybe the leg press if squats are not part of the workout), I found most every other leg/lower body machine in the gym to be a total waste of my time. I think I get a better leg workout from doing 8-10 sets of squats and calling it a day versus 3-4 sets on 3-4 different lower body machines that work little parts of your legs.
I'm hoping to squat later this weekend if my lower back recovers enough. I'm really surprised that I am still sore five days after the meet!
Just finished up three VERY low carb days that were brutal...trying to shed a little water from the loading I did for the PL meet, and then we'll take some progress pics this weekend. I get an extra carb meal today and tomorrow! :D
You just can't beat squats. Ass to calves. Narrow stance. I have developed a love/hate relationship with them. ;D

Cute as always. Now the not so fun part.........you need to get on your diet hard missy. 2 cardio sessions daily, no milk, no cheese, no sugar. chicken, turkey or fish get those carbs down. Hams are soft and its not all water. Your upper body is ahead of your lower as you said. Start tanning soon also.
You can still do this and I know you will. I would not have a cheat meal or day if I was you right now.

The diet is pretty tight right now. For this week and into next week, I am going to hold the diet steady but focus on getting control of my water retention by weening myself off of soy sauce and tamari sauce, which I am totally addicted to. I think that cutting down on my sodium intake will help significantly. My backside and hams were actually tighter a week ago, and I know I haven't gained any fat, so I definitely have some water issues to deal with. (not to say that I don't have another 10-12 pounds to lose :P)
I also started Third Degree Burn this morning and will take that for the next 8 weeks, in addition to Palumbo's fat burner, which I am still taking. I'll add Thyrotabs for the final 5-6 weeks.
One thing is for sure...the bright sunlight is very unforgiving! It washes your muscle definition right out. If you can look good and hard in outdoor pics in the bright sunlight, then you can look good and hard anywhere!!
For comparison purposes, these are a few pics of me at 8 weeks out from Junior Nats last year. It's kind of hard to compare because I had almost a year for a very productive off-season, so I look a bit different. I may have been a little tighter last year at 8 weeks out, but I am definitely bigger in the legs and thicker everywhere than I was last year.

Your pics from last year (very cute I may add) yes it looks like you have added some size but its hard to tell where you will end up in shape. You look sleeker in 07, waist smaller at this point.

you were definetely tighter at this point last year, but u have added some size in your lower body, WHICH YOU NEEDED! So just keep goin with the diet and cardio, and do overdo the stimulants since your body is already stressed out with everything elese, and you'll bring your best YET!

Also get rid of those awful shorts and your taper will look much better and your waist smaller.
It is hard to compare the pics because the difference in lighting, I think you may be a tad tighter last year but I don't think it is by much.

Yes, that's the direction I am headed in. I have not totally eliminated salt, but I have increased my intake of both balsamic vinegar and malt vinegar. Malt vinegar and lemon juice on white fish is pretty tasty, actually.

Had a very busy weekend. I did a good workout Friday night, and then we worked a BB show all day yesterday and went to a birthday party last night. We went racing all day today.
I took a couple of totally spur of the moment pics at the race track today, right after I came back from a 20 minute run. It was really HOT, and I was a mess. :P
My midsection has tightened up quite a bit, my abs are just about in, and my legs aren't as watery as they were last week...although it's still hard to flex them because they are always so beaten on. I swear, they are harder than they appear in the pics! Still having problems with my lat spread too.
I'm actually pretty happy with where I am for seven weeks out. I'm finally starting to feel on track. :)

ummm not to burst the balsamic vinegar bubble but you may want to check the sugar in it. I know that mine has 4 grams of sugar per serving and that is lower then some of them that I saw at the store. Maybe you have a sugar free one but not sure I have ever seen that...

So Carla and I made some MAJOR adjustments to my diet for this week and next week, and we'll see what happens. I am not loving these adjustments, as things are quite different than what I am used to, but variety is the spice of life, and mixing it up is what keeps things interesting and keeps the body guessing, I suppose. I am just going to have faith and see how it goes. I made the mistake of weighing myself this morning, and I hadn't lost any weight since last Sat, but that's OK, it was my fault for not letting more time pass before getting back on the scale. I feel flat and smooth and soft right now. :P
Double cardios and a good back workout yesterday. Luv would have been proud... I got 10 wide grip pullups on my first set. The other three sets were more in the 7-8 range, but still!
I took my cardio outside this morning. There is a very hilly (steep too!) loop in my neighborhood that is 2.2 miles to/from my house. I did it twice this morning. It was glorious!!
Except that I got shin splints and need new sneakers badly. And the ear buds that they give you with ipods SUCK at staying in your ears when you jog. And my brand new ipod broke half way through the run and is totally dead now, and I have to return it. >:(
But other than that, it was glorious!!

LOL yeah those earbuds with the ipod do suck, I never even used used em and bought some nice ones instead, made by Shure, I like em. Thing is the ear buds always break down on me, seem to last like 4 months max. They replaced the last set under warranty, I made sure and kept the recipt cause I knew i was gonna need it LOL. Sucks about the pod, they will replace it though.

I have been on Palumbo's fat burner (Lypolyze/Somalyze) for several weeks and will continue that right through the NAs. I have also started Gaspari's Third Degree Burn last week and am on that now through the NAs. I will add in Gaspari Thyrotabs for the final 4 weeks. And I'm a caffeine junkie. ;D
If you had to compare any of these products to just a regular ECA, which one is better?
i'm thinking about cutting down 15 pounds and due to my work schedule morning cardio is almost impossible, so i wanted some "help". ECA works great for me, but i'd like your opinion on the other stuff.

If you can handle ECA, it's the way to go. I can't handle it, I'm a pussy. ;D
Third Degree Burn is great, but it's discontinued. The new product is Cytolean, which I like a lot too, but again, I think that none of these will beat a good ECA stack if you can hang with it.
The good thing is that you can take Palumbo's stuff with other stimulant-based fat burners because his is non-stim. I was skeptical at first, and I had some stomach issues adjusting to it, but I do think that it's effective, and I like the nighttime formula quite a bit because it has melatonin in it and it helps you sleep.
There's a fat burner thread on this board that has a lot of good info/suggestions....

I can't post the specifics of my diet for the reasons that you stated, stella... but I will tell you that it's different than anything I have EVER done before. And it's basically the kind of diet that I have always said I would NEVER do. That's right... no carbs. :o
I have replaced all of my complex carbs with fats. I eliminated protein shakes as well and dropped from seven to six meals (because the fats keep you fuller). Two servings of fibrous veggies a day and the rest protein and fats.
It's weird... I thought I would feel a million times worse because any time I have done no carb, I have also done no fat, which is just brutal. But sprinkling in some fats throughout the day makes a HUGE difference in terms of filling you up and making you feel OK. I can still function at work, which I am surprised by LOL. It's Thursday, and I've been on this since Monday, and today is the first day where I feel like I am dragging ass a little bit. But I have felt better this week than many weeks prior to this one. And this morning, I had 5 oz. ground buffalo with an omega egg on top, sunny side up... although I would have preferred about 12 oz. and 2-3 eggs, it was a REALLY delicious breakfast! I get steak and nuts as well, which are two things that I totally crave on my old plan.
So we'll see what happens. I wasn't planning on taking progress pics this weekend, but I might go ahead and take some just to see what I look like after a week of zero carbs.

That sounds like a variation of Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale’s anabolic diet (which some would call a variation of a keto type diet). Are you carb loading 1-2 days per week? And are you really doing 0 carbs? You need a minimal amount for brain function...

I did pretty much zero carbs this whole week, except for maybe like 30-40g fibrous veggies, in two servings. I'm not carb loading YET, one more week I think, and then Carla is going to put carbs back into my diet. I'm not going zero carb all the way to the show.
I feel OK, although I have to confess I was voraciously hungry last night - like to the point where I didn't care what I ate - and I put down about 1/3 jar of peanut butter and an extra piece of lean steak. :-[
I'm not terribly worried about it. I weighed 121.6 yesterday morning and weighed 122.6 this morning, so I am holding some water - of course on the day when I want to take pics, but whatever. ::)
Did double cardios Friday and yesterday, shoulders Friday and arms yesterday. Just did 55 mins on the elliptical this morning, and I will hit the gym later today but I am not sure yet what I am going to lift. I'll prolly take some pics even though I am a bit watery today. I'm fairly happy with where my weight is at for just under 5 weeks out.
That sounds like a variation of Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale’s anabolic diet (which some would call a variation of a keto type diet). Are you carb loading 1-2 days per week? And are you really doing 0 carbs? You need a minimal amount for brain function...

When your body is on zero carbs there is an internal reaction that will convert fats to carbs for survival. This is involuantary. I will research the science more if needed.

When not consuming carbs your body will turn fats into KETONES which your brain will use for energy. Hence the name, "keto diet"

One thing I Have noticed for sure from the keto diet is that while my mood is generally better (I am not as cranky) and I like the food better, my energy levels are in the shitter, and my mental awareness is not all there. Everything hurts and my legs are very very very tired.
I am definitely more out of it than I am when I have carbs. :-\
No pics today, I was way tooo tired to deal with it. Maybe some in the middle of the week, if not then I will do them at 4 weeks out next weekend. :)
Once you get into the keto diet...this can take a good wk to adjust...you should start feeling a lot better. From what I've seen, it typically takes most people at least 3-4 days to adjust, but for some reason for some women it can take at least a wk, if not a few days more.
Give it time and you should come around. of course this is assuming that once you're fully in ketosis that you stay in ketosis. If you have an entire day or 2 of carb eating and then go right back into the keto diet, then you will have to start the physicall adjustment all over again. granted, if this happens for whatever reason, it should not take you as long to adjust as it did the first time.
How are you sleeping Ripitup? I know you have been using a couple/few fat burners they could have your CNS fried out? This leads to that weak, tired feeling.
I would pull them all out but one, maybe even a break from that for a week or so. Just a thought.

As for the no carb diets and losing muscle- I tried Atkins about 10 yrs ago and wasted away to 115lbs w/ no muscle (I'm 5'7") and my family thought I was sick...it definitely wastes away muscle after long-term use....but when I've done no carbs for a short period of time for competition prep, BAM, bodyfat loss... So it's quite a science!! Carla is amazing so I would definitely trust what she tells you to do for diet...stay strong - only 4.5 weeks until showtime!
P.S. what is the first meal/food you are looking forward to??

In the military, you used to test how well a bed was made by "bouncing a quarter" off of the bed.
If it bounced, then the sides were tucked in correctly and the sheets and spread were tight.

You know what's funny is that this time around, I have been so focused on the prep and training that I haven't thought much about what I am looking forward to eating. Plus, Nationals is 12 weeks after the NA's - I can't even believe I am going to try to prep for that but we'll think about that later - so I can't go crazy, which is prolly a good thing.
ICE CREAM is way at the top of the list, as always. Ben and Jerry's, DQ Blizzards. Lots of Reeses' PB Cups. M&Ms.
And I am DYING for some coffee drinks made with milk and caramel, etc. White Chocolate Mochas. The Starbucks Mint Chocolate Chip Frappucino has been calling my name for a while now. Doughnuts...definitely some glazed doughnuts.
Definitely ribs. BBQ baby back ribs.
Oh, and Jenny makes all kinds of goodies. She's supposed to be bringing me coconut macaroons and some brownies.

Too funny!!! That's a whole lotta sugar! I'm sure the thought of what you will be able to eat will keep you going (along with that winning placement of course). Who knows, after the show when you have your mini-binge, maybe it'll kickstart things again and you'll be on stage looking even better than ever for the NAs...especially since you will be asking your body for another 12 weeks of cooperation!

Coffee is one of my few "indulgences" if you can call it that. Last year, I kept coffee in with a little splash of skim milk, right up until the final week, pretty much whenever I wanted it. This year, I have one big cup in the morning before my cardio...with a TINY splash of skim (just to cut the bitterness a little) and equal or splenda. Then, if I have any coffee after that first cup, it's black with equal or splenda only. I LOVE Starbucks Americano's, so I usually do one of those with five shots and 2 splendas. I cannot WAIT to have an Iced White Chocolate Mocha Americano!!
I forgot to add to my food list a BIG greasy spoon diner breakfast. That is a necessity!! Bacon, eggs, pancakes, hash, coffee with cream, sausages, waffles, hash browns with cheese, all of the above!! We'll go for one of those after the show for sure!
The plan is for the mini-binge to be VERY mini...like 2-3 days after the NA's. And then about 2 weeks of "down time" - not dieting HARD, but having maybe like 1-2 non-diet meals a day instead of just pigging out, and only one cardio session per day. And then 10 weeks of double cardios and HARD training and dieting for Nationals, if I can handle it!
I weighed 122.0 this morning...4 weeks out! Progress pics hopefully sometime this weekend... :)

Hey girl - Every week you are looking better and better! How exciting!!! I hate to make excuses, but I think the sunlight really washed out your lines in your legs....bad angle... Speaking of, we know the legs are the last to come in but I'll bet you we will see a difference next week with them!! Maybe you can get a couple of triple cardios in this week? :-\ If not, how does Carla feel about one of your cardio sessions being a short burst (30 -40 mins) of interval training????

I am trembling in my boots, I roll up to her place in my car, get out and have my 12 roses in one and and the other very sweaty in my pocket. As I walk up to the door I can't help but tremble, I ring the doorbell. She answers, oh ... my ... gosh GORGEOUS :o I can barely say a word, so I hand her my roses and we walk out the door to the car.
I open up the door for her and closes it very smoothly to not make her jump. I wipe off the sweat on my forehead and make my way to the drivers side. As we set off to the nicest restaurant I can find, we have some small talk about her day and how she is feeling. We arrive at the restaurant, we have a space reserved outdoors for our date. We sit down and the waiter comes over, I say get my the best bottle of wine you have waiter.
As we have a great dinner and even better conversation I cannot get over how beautiful she is. We finish up and head on out after a great dinner. As fitting, we goto the nicest jewelry store next. I reserve the whole store just for us. We go in and are greated by the front door man very nicely. I say pick anything out you want. She picks out a beautiful tennis bracelet and she puts it on. As we walk out I can only think of kissing her at the end of the night ???
As I drive her back I am sweating again in my palms, what am I going to do, kiss her or will she turn her cheek. We arrive, oh my gosh, the moment is here. As I walk her to the door I decide I am going to go in for the kiss! She says good night and I face towards her with holding both her hands and give her a peck on her lips, the rest is for further dates and romantic moments we have to come. I can't wait to call her the next day, I am like a kid in a candy store, so excited!

Well I have a mean little urinary tract infection...OUCH, what pain!!! I got some antibiotics yesterday, and they are helping for sure...but I haven't slept well in two days now, and I am feeling a bit run down and tired because of it. Thankfully I am no longer running to the bathroom every 10 minutes...and I mean RUNNING. It was awful! So now I just need to clear it up (hopefully another day or two) and get the antibiotics done (the rest of this week), and then thankfully I will still have plenty of time to get myself put back together for the competition!

I am still recovering from the UTI, and I am soooo tired because I havent slept well in three nights. But I AM getting better.
I managed to get my double cardios in all weekend (in between bathroom breaks ::)). Yesterday I did 56 mins AM elliptical, then I did a somewhat abbreviated leg workout last night, followed by 38 mins of stair climbing. I am trying not to kill my legs so that I can keep doing cardio etc., so here's what I did:
HAMMER STRENGTH LEG PRESS (SLED)
sled alone x 25
1 plate/side x 20
2 plates/side x 15
3 plates/side x 12/3 sets
2 plates/side x 15
1 plate/side x 20
LEG EXTENSIONS
5 sets x 10-12 slow and light, with a squeeze and hold at the top
Then I also did about 5 sets of weighted calf raises/calf extensions.
I did arms on Sunday, and my triceps are fried. I was so tired this morning that I only did a half-ass 36 minutes on the bike, not very hard either, so I will probably skip weight training tonight and bang out some more cardio.
I weighed 118.0 this morning, so I am actually starting to get to the point where I don't want to lose TOO much more weight before the week of the show. Maybe like a pound or two. I have NEVER arrived where I need to be early before...it's kind of weird to almost be ready to rock and roll. :-\

I only say that because they show the competitors in 2 different psoting suits so I figure one is pre-judging and the other is night show. I saw that stella just sent me a text, so I figured I would jump on line while I had a minute and update you! :D
Things went really well at prej. I had fun! There were only three LWs, and it went very fast. I wore bright purple for the prej. I don't think that any pics are online yet, but I am sure they will be shortly. I heard that I was the most conditioned by far but not the biggest of the LWs, so we shall see what happens. I had striated quads and glutes, which I never even thought was possible, so I am happy no matter what happens. I think that I looked my absolute best, and big improvements from last year, so that's about all I can ask for. Whatever happens from this point forward is fine with me.
I am resting up for finals now, which start at 5 PM, and FBB is up first, so we should know the results of the classes and the overall by about 7 PM or so. I have not put together any sort of routine LOL, so I am just going to wing it. Right now, I am just looking forward to the finals and having a big glass of water. ;D
The BEAST had a family emergency and had to leave in a hurry, which is unfortunate, but she's here with me in spirit, and I love her and wish her the very best. She brought me a huge bag of baked goods too, which I am excited about! :D

OH... in terms of food, I had a bunch of SHIT backstage and then went out for a HUGE meal that just about put me under. I ate at 8 PM and was still up at 2 AM trying to get my stomach to digest it, and I have the worst heartburn this morning I have ever had in my life. I haven't eaten since then, and I am actually a little turned off by the thought of food right now. I almost puked about 10 times in the night. :P

Another area that I have vowed to work on before Nationals is POSING. I was so physically destroyed in the 2-3 weeks before this show that I did NO posing practice whatsoever, and I think it showed. There are some weird things going on with some of my poses. :-\
Also I did not make up a routine at all, which was a huge mistake. I totally winged it up there, and it showed too LOL. I am going to book a guest posing appearance for sometime before Nats to force myself to do a routine and practice. I knew there would be a time when I regretted not putting together a routine, and it was basically the minute before I walked out on stage and was like WTF am I going to do?!?! ;D

At this particular show, IFBB Pro Status was only awarded to the Overall winner, not the class winners. The NPC Nationals is the ONLY show where they award pro status to the class winners. That's in November.

We have decided to travel down to NYC for Team U this weekend, as I am planning on doing some photo shoots etc, and Friday is my husband's birthday, so we are going to throw down in the Big Apple this weekend. Then it's back to the grind next week. I did manage to get up this morning and take a 30 minute walk, just so that I don't get myself TOO far away from my routine. The more I can stay in the groove now, the less painful the next 11 weeks will be. We're headed to the gym tonight too, although I am still a bit sore in the lower body...gonna try to do a chest/tri workout tonight! Feeling good! :)
I have two 1/2 gallons of ice cream in the freezer to finish off in the next couple days, and the rest of The BEAST's baked goods, one big lunch with my co-workers next week, and the weekend in NYC, and after that, I think I'll be back on track for the most part. I actually had omega eggs and rice for breakfast this morning, nuts mid-morning, and sirloin with veggies and rice for lunch, so I am TRYING not to turn into a total pork chop! ;D

Believe it or not, I used to work in the building right behind you where you took that pic, at 11 Broadway. I walked by the bull every day and there were always tourists taking pictures. Then my company moved to bigger offices a few blocks further east near the South Street Seaport.

Back in the swing of things, chest workout last night. It wasn't bad at all, although my bench is feeling pretty weak these days. Tris felt strong though and shoulders are burning this morning. Here's what I did:
Bench Press - barx20, 95x15, 115x12, 135x8, 145x6, 145x6
Close Grip Bench Press - 95x15, 105x12, 125x8, 125x7
Incline Dumbell Flies - 17.5lbsx12, 2 sets
Incline Dumbell Press - 40x15, 45x8-10 (3 sets)
Pec Deck Flies - 2 setsx12, last set was a triple drop set
I also did 30 mins on the stepmill. I did a hill walk yesterday morning for 40 mins, but my sneakers have totally crapped out, and I desperately need new ones. Shin splints were terrible, and the arches of my feet were cramping. >:(

I did 38 mins on the elliptical this morning...barefoot ::)... hoping to get new sneakers today if they are in stock. Gonna hit legs tonight, and thankfully I have a nice pair of weightlifting shoes to use.
I ate a bunch of almonds and cashews last night that made me feel sick this morning. It's almost time to start having my husband hide all of the nuts and PB again. ::)

Hey guys I got a funny story. So I keep pictures of Rip on my ipod, and this week I was around some guys at the bar and I whiped out my ipod and was like hey guys check out my gf. They were in awe, the were freaking going insane, I can't believe they actually thought i am her bf, it was so cool while it lasted.There is a lot of weird stuff said on Getbig...most of it is bullshit and just kind of say whatever. When I eat 7+ times a day like you do I am usually constantly hungry. I am far better off eating 4 slightly larger meals when eating clean.
Here's what I ate yesterday...
1. egg whites, 1/2 cup rice
2. 6 oz. top round steak
3. 4 oz. chicken, 1/2 cup rice, asparagus
4. 6 oz. chicken
5. 6 oz. grilled flounder, asparagus
6. 5-6 oz. chicken
And I had 2-3 gulps of my husband's protein shake post workout.
That's a pretty tight diet day for me. I mix things up and usually eat 7 times during the week, but that is pretty typical. I'll get rid of the steak when I need to. I am also using some fat free non dairy creamer in my morning coffee that will have to be eliminated in a couple weeks.
Nats is nine weeks from this Friday. I haven't weighed myself or taken any pics yet since the NA's, but I will do that before I am 8 weeks out. :)

CONSTANTLY hungry... but that's how you know it's working and your metabolism is cranked. :)
I grill all of my chicken. Ms. Dash for the most part, although I have been using some soy sauce and Ms. Dash teryaki marinade lately, because I can. I'll cut that stuff out at about 6 weeks. I do a HUGE grill on Sundays, put all the chicken in ziploc bags and refrigerate/freeze it so that it'll last me till about Thursday or even Friday for the frozen stuff.
I hate eating chicken that often and sometimes I does make me want to barf LOL. About 2-3 times during the week, I usually get a steamed red snapper fillet for $13 from the sushi restaurant in town and use that for two meals a day. And sometimes I'll have egg whites at night instead of chicken. :P
Dont cut that out Rip! u need the sodium to get a pump, no need to even worry about sodium, til the last few days :)
Also how does flounder and salmon taste?? Ive never had em. Im on a orange roughy kick, thats the best white fish ive had!
Flounder is "OK" but a bit fishy. Salmon is fishy but SOOOO good. Salmon is high in fat content though (good fat), so it's not on my list for a lowfat/lowcal diet. Works well with a keto diet. I had a piece of salmon every day when i did no carbs for 8 days, and I loved it.
I'll give the roughy a go... I had Chilean Sea Bass the other week, and I hated it. Way too fishy. Steamed red snapper from the sushi restaurant is the cleanest white fish (clean as in pretty much tasteless) except for maybe haddock.
I got new sneakers and did a 50 minute hill walk this morning. Legs are now tired, but I am gonna hit the gym tonight and MAYBE do a second cardio session after I train. :)

haha I totally agree. I am so lucky right now that I can have some steak in my diet... I went weeks on just chicken and egg whites for my prep for the NAs.
SO I finally broke down, I couldn't resist anymore, I weighed myself last night and again this morning to see where I am at.
I weighed 118.2 this morning. :o
I am pretty surprised. It's a much different place to be at just over 9 weeks out (versus 130 at 9 weeks out from the NAs). I am going to try to maintain some sort of holding pattern for a few weeks, which I have never really done before.
I did a really good chest/tricep workout last night, no double cardio, and then I slept extra this morning and skipped cardio. I am doing a spin class at lunchtime though. Here is my chest workout from last night. I am happy with the numbers given my bodyweight.
INCLINE DB PRESS (the incline was pretty low, about 40 degrees)
30x20
40x15
50x10/3 sets
CLOSE GRIP BENCH PRESS
95x15
115x12/2 sets
INCLINE DB FLIES -17.5 lbs x 15, 20 lbs x 12
HAMMER STRENGTH CHEST PRESS - this was almost like a decline press. 3 sets x 8 with 35 pounds on each side, I was getting fried!
PEC DECK - 3 sets, last two sets were drop sets about 25 reps
TRICEP CABLE EXTENSIONS (ROPE) - 4 sets x as many as I could do, I lost count but about 10-15
Nice chest training. You are strong enough to hold your size. Staying ready till the next show can be tricky, sounds like you are about right where you should be though. I would not go over 120lbs by much. Adjust your food and cardio to stay in the range, sounds like you have lessened the cardio some which is a good idea for now. Being just 5-7 lbs over your comp weight should let you coast into the show by just turning the screws tighter a bit the last 2-3 weeks or so.
Would love to see you hit the stage as hard but right at the class limit those 3-4 lbs will look like 7-8 lbs of muscle on you.

It IS tricky to hold conditioning for TWELVE WEEKS, I am not sure how many people realize how tricky it is. It's a new challenge for me... but better I suppose than having to drop 15 pounds in the next 9 weeks. I am going to try to stay at or under 120 till about 6 weeks out and then bring it home in the final few weeks. I really hope that I don't weigh in any less than I did at the NAs because I don't think that I need to be any more conditioned than I was at the NAs. If anything, like you said, I would just like to be bigger! ;D

Rip, not sure if you've mentioned it but you would probably benefit greatly from massage 1ce/week or 1ce/2 weeks.
What I am really looking forward to is seeing my chiropractor tomorrow. I have figured out that the leg pain I am feeling is from a major misalignment in my lower back, which is sending shooting pains down both legs. I think that once I get fixed, I will be good to go for a while. :)

Hey Alex. How are you and the family? the Nationals was not Galina's first national show, she won the lightweight class at the USA over the summer in 2007. I have also heard that she won't be competing this year at Nationals.

Little D is a Competitive FBB and an awsome girl. She won the overall in FBB at the Continetal USA last year as a LW and beat out a strong HVY contender. She is a PT at the gym i train at and trains girls for figure and BB.
Would love to see her take it to the next level next year at the Masters Nationals. She is strong and trains very hard and Iam certian will do well in whatever comp she enters.

I'm hanging in there... I am slammed at work right now, so my time has been awfully short. I haven't been feeling well this week, been having some issues along with back problems, but I'll figure it all out, I'm sure. :)
Been on the road all week, but I did double cardios Saturday-Tuesday, I did train shoulders on Sat or Sun (can't remember), back Monday, arms last night, and didn't have time to train tonight. My lower back has been bothering me alot lately, which has prevented alot of hard leg training, although I have been doing calves obviously and machine work.

Thanks OL. We do have a pullover machine, but I don't fit into it very well because I am so short. I do a similar exercise with the cable setup sometimes. I'll give it another go next time I do back and letcha know. ;)

I did a MEAN abs and calves workout last night, plus 30 mins on the stairmill. This morning, it was 52 degrees out, so I went out and had a great walk/run for about 45 mins. It was really perfect weather. I am going to miss my outdoor cardio when winter sets in...gonna try to get out there as much as possible for the rest of October!
Hitting the gym this afternoon for arms and maybe a little more cardio. We're working the NPC Jr New England show in RI all day tomorrow, so I think that tomorrow will be an "off" day for training and cardio... haven't had one of those in a long time! 119.6 this morning...

OK first set is from the North Americans. I was looking crazy and Carla was two weeks out from the Atlantic City Pro.
We shot again the following weekend at Team Universe, I was one week post-NAs, and she was one week out. I will post THOSE pics later...you can see how much I filled out in my one week that I got off my diet. :)
haha no spectating...between me and my husband, we are running check-ins, scoring the show, judging it, and doing the photography. :P
NPC Team New England works like a well-oiled machine. 8)
I'm back into the swing of things for the most part. Been training every day pretty much. I did a quick arm workout Friday night (45 mins), a back workout Sat plus 50 mins on the elliptical, and then yesterday I did double cardios (50/38) with a good shoulder workout.
Here's what I ate yesterday...
1. egg whites, 1/2 cup rice
2. 6 oz. top round steak
3. 4 oz. chicken, 1/2 cup rice, asparagus
4. 6 oz. chicken
5. 6 oz. grilled flounder, asparagus
6. 5-6 oz. chicken
And I had 2-3 gulps of my husband's protein shake post workout.
That's a pretty tight diet day for me. I mix things up and usually eat 7 times during the week, but that is pretty typical. I'll get rid of the steak when I need to. I am also using some fat free non dairy creamer in my morning coffee that will have to be eliminated in a couple weeks.
Nats is nine weeks from this Friday. I haven't weighed myself or taken any pics yet since the NA's, but I will do that before I am 8 weeks out. :)
I was lucky enough to meet Lori today at the NPC Jr. New England and she looks fantastic!

Just a few questions:
1) I know experienced competitors get almost a "feel" for their diet overtime; and some are still very exact. Do you still weigh your food or "guessimate"? Do you have a rough idea of your macros per lb of bodyweight? (It makes it easier to compare you diet, to say that of a larger competitor).
2) How do your on and off season diets compare?
3) What are the dates again of your upcoming contest?

I really don't know what to say about my legs... I think that I am just really filled out right now, all over! My diet has been completely different. I've hardly done heavy leg work since the North Americans... just a ton of cardio and high rep leg workouts for the most part. I hurt my back about 4 or 5 weeks ago and didn't even train legs for two weeks...and I haven't squatted more than 95 pounds since then.
Little D...I don't measure my body fat. I think there's too much error in all of those measurements, it would just make me even more mental than I already am. Right now, I just want to make weight... I think I am going to be alot closer to 115 this time around than I was at the NAs (112.5), and I think that's gonna be a good thing!

Becareful with the cardio Rip dont wanna burn up any muscle. I bet you have no fat to lose you are 5 lbs away. I think 115 should be your goal. If you are 120 on monday before the show you will be fine at weigh in, dont panic at that point.
Some big gun slingers will be after same as you, you need to show them who's boss. 8)

Hey Rip does that adjustment when you lay on your side and the chiro pushes down hard on the top, bent leg to crack the lower back help you? They call it a hip adjustment. Im just saying cause you could probally train your husband to be able to do that for you at home. I have had it done many times and can see there is no real trick to it just get in the right position and push down, I have cracked my GF's a few times. she says it works great. That way you can get it done more often.

I am exhausted... kind of hit the wall this weekend, but I am where I need to be. Now it's just a matter of easing into the show, resting up, and getting the timing right on everything...which is tricky!
I think I am done training legs before Nats. I'm not recovering well from my workouts at this point and just have a few more days to get through. I did a light leg workout Friday evening... machines only, lots of sets, but light and high rep, just kind of going through it... I was SO sore this weekend that I was sick yesterday. I am still sore... and it makes cardio pretty tough. I actually slept yesterday during the day, which I hardly ever do.

I am very happy to have placed in the top 5. After looking at the pics, all of the girls who placed 1-7 in my class looked FANTASTIC. It was a tough show. I had a great time at the finals, had fun doing the routine, and am excited to see the pics from last night. Also very glad to be done and enjoying some down time now.
All in all, it was a great personal accomplishment for me. I am satisfied with the way everything went. My conditioning was superior to the NA's, and my midsection looked the best it ever has...and that's something I really wanted to fix after the NAs. So again, mission accomplished, and now Rip's chillin. 8)

Yes it is a solid one but its not your right to tell her what to do, especially talking about kids, there could be problems (disfunctionality, bad sperm, etc) that you dont know. Have some respect, not all women can have kids, and in bodybuilding is common due the use of supplements.

I didn't insult Rip. I have been telling her for years I think bodybuilding is stupid and she should do it more as a hobby and not be so serious about it. Pointing out things that you believe are a problem in someones life who you know only as a screen name is not what I would call just a friendly opinion. If someone comes to you asking then sure, but otherwise you're simply sticking your nose where it doesn't belong. If someone has a problem in their life, this is where there own family and close friends come into play, that's there job and it's there job to do so in a loving caring way...which this is neither.

There are many natural competitors who actually compete naturally. But as a whole, I will agree with you...natural bodybuilding in many cases is a pretty messed up hypocritical world IMO.
so he's using benz to try to feed a desperate and burning desire to start any shit he can on the board simply for his own entertainment.

Well.. I am back from Atlanta, long trip back, and was pretty tired yesterday.
It was a pleasure meeting Lori, she is even better looking in person than her pictures! And she had a graet physique, and the judges rewarded for by putting her in the top five.

The way I see it is if you have more femable bodybuilders who look like Lori does (also the Beast) and less withdrawn in the face and low voices, people would not mind the sport at all, and maybe even get some sponsors. But in many shows, you always have the ones that blows peoples minds.
But this isnt the thread for that.

Some people don't want kids. I don't know if I do or not, so I could be one of those people.
Some people Can't have kids, not because of bodybuilding, they just can't have them...there are a lot of couples that fall into this category. And guess what? Half the time it's because for some reason the guy can't have kids.
Last one, it's a pretty personal issue between a couple, a private one that is between them and no one else.

X2 Rip does not talk about it , she does it!
Woman has competed in a national powerlifting event, 2 national BB shows, one of them as close to a pro show as it gets. She has more accomplishments in a year than most have in a lifetime.
All this while working a full time job and having a nice marriage. She has energized many people by her example and encouragement and we all owe Rip for that.

It's not cocky at all to say that I looked the best I have ever looked... that is what I set out to do, so I accomplished my goal. If you don't understand what bodybuilding is about, then maybe you should just not comment at all. :)

I am very happy to have placed in the top 5. After looking at the pics, all of the girls who placed 1-7 in my class looked FANTASTIC. It was a tough show. I had a great time at the finals, had fun doing the routine, and am excited to see the pics from last night. Also very glad to be done and enjoying some down time now.
All in all, it was a great personal accomplishment for me. I am satisfied with the way everything went.
