I'm 26 years old I graduated from a small University in 2007. I have a degree in health, physical education, and recreation. I have worked several different jobs since graduating college. I worked as a personal trainer for a little while. I enjoyed being in the gym all of the time and being around the culture. The job wasn't paying all of the bills. I couldn't see myself making a good living just being a free lance personal trainer.
Next job I worked at a large factory in Western N.Y. I worked in the quality control department. I was making decent money but still not enough to really make a great living and I didn't see myself moving up in the company. I recently moved to South Carolina. I took a job working on the lift team with the therapy department. It doesn't pay very well but they will help pay for schooling if you are interested in going back for something.
I was thinking about going back for nursing but getting into the schools down there is really difficult. I admit I didn't have the best grades in college. Nursing is becoming one of the most competitive careers down here in Charelston. I applied to one of the better schools. With my grades I think it will be very hard for me to get in. The problem is don't really know what to do with the degree that I have. I got to make some moves soon I don't want to get to far behind. I was thinking about maybe becoming a police officer but I have used drugs in my past. I cycle anabolics on and off through the year and I know they give lie detector tests. I have always been really interested in guns and tactics and all of that stuff. If I could go back after highschool I would of joined the marines or the army.
I just feel kind of lost I need to find something and really focus all of my time into getting it done. The classes I took in college were very very hard for me. I have always had a hard time learning certain subjects math and science. I really pushed through it though and got it done. I know I have it in me I have to find something to focus on. Any suggestions?
I don't know if you like being around kids, but have you considered education
(teaching)? It seems you enjoyed the exercise "culture." This would give you a chance to get back into it somewhat.
Don't laugh at the prospect of being a gym teacher, either.
Most settle into a financially stable/rewarding career after paying some dues - you're only 26.
Many "gym teachers" also eventually wear multiple hats in the school's HPE departments.
Some teach health classes, coach sports teams, go on to become athletic directors, etc.
Depending on your role(s), you'll probably have a good bit of free time.
You could do some personal training on the side for a little extra ching, but now that money is a "bonus."
I used to train with two guys who did just that!
One was a school's gym teacher and pee-wee wrestling coach, trained some clients evenings & weekends plus more in the summer, and he had time to compete in bb.
I don't think the man's had a stressful day in 18 years.
He had several sources of income and loved what he did in every one!
