Getbig is a very open board.

getbig is in a strange spot right now.
many regulars are very unhappy.
Pros now have the requirement that to post here, there must be major moderation, a requirement we never had in the past.
Mgmt seems to be accomodating that. Which is good for pros, but destroys the getbig charmed- controlled chaos.
I don't know what is going to happen here.

I dunno, I'm trying to toe the sidelines until I really understand the situation and direction.
Getbig achieved its popularity by being a niche place- chaos and incredibly funny- in a controlled world of BBing message boards.
BBing.com and Mayhem already control the 'highly moderated educational board with lots of niceities and pros' arena.
As a business guy, I am at a loss right now as to how GB can compete, and continue to grow and flourish.
WAit n see, I guess.

I notice as soon as Jay came on board the ass kissers came out of the woodwork. I make a comment like "Ronnie rightfully beat Jay Cutler in 2001" only to get a response like "LOL...you think you can ever be as big as Jay? Fucking tool."
I'm not really getting the part where my point had anything to do with my size in relation to Jay, but oh well.
I would never want to post on mayhem because I was afraid of strawman attacks for anything I may say that was not ass kissing the pros. Even reasonable criticisms were met with attacks a lot of times and to add to this, the mods seemed to encourage it.
It seems like groupthink will prevail anywhere. Thankfully at least our mods don't encourage that behaviour. If they did this message board would be just like mayhem or ironage. What I like most about those two boards: the knowledge. What I like most about this board: the knowledge coupled with free reign to speak our minds and have unique opinions without risk of getting banned.
Hopefully it stays that way.
What what its worth, I don't really think Jay came close to Ronnie in 01. EVen though the score cards said differently...Ronnie was just way to much from the back...But i didn't see a reason to bring that up to Jay on his very first post here...

I don't think Jay will easily be lured into fighting folks on this board. From the threads I've seen him in, he seems to select only the genuine attempts at meaningful input as he wisely ignores the usual idiocy. He seems to be in the same smarts category as Chicherillo, but he (Cutler) isn't as prone to mixing it up with the peanut gallery.
We should face the reality that Getbig's gimmicky silliness provides a good backbone for the site. It certainly has gotten ME hooked! >:-l But downright nasty, seemingly endless, and often highly concocted attacks on any particular pro aren't right at all. It cheapens the experience. WTF about that?
