no one realy care about winter Olympics but still this should be reversed,, this is if there will be wintr Olympics to begin with,, but if there is Russia shoud be part of it,, they use hormones like each and every one in the west,,
this is spit in the Russian athletes faces,, this should be reversed by the disgusting corrupt committee,, and rest asure they are corrupt beyond belief

There is a case to be made that Russia's doping
program is state sanctioned and financed. Most likely
China's too. It's not the same in all countries in the west,
too hard to keep secret when the mentality is different.
USA has salesmen like Victor Conte, Russia has the whole state apparatus - there is a difference.
If it was revealed that the USA had state sanctioned doping the scandal would be enormous. OTOH "everyone" knows the old communist countries view this matter way differently so it's almost expected.

I remember that episode from the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. With Ben Johnson ( from Canada) tested and suspended after his 100 m world record but with Florence Griffith Joyner ( also world record 100 & 200 m), untested. Many said then that US athletes are protected. :-\

There was a mainstream media documentary made several years ago which proved that Olympic officials had caught Johnson cheating long before the OFFICIAL discovery. They simply covered it up. Olympic officials knew he was a drug cheat all along.

there is a youtube vid of a documentary about the 88 games, a doctor went back to Seoul and got access to all the medal winners samples(they always keep them) and started testing them with todays technology, every single one was coming back positive, he just binned all his results as it would have totally decimated the medal tables.
As for Americans being protected, Carl Lewis failed three tests leading up to the 88 games and all were brushed under the carpet

Really? If doping was officially allowed people would start drugging kids from birth. It's a hard sell. Countries like China would embrace it and dominate everything through state sponsored programs, they'd have laboratory farms with kids drugged from birth to build super athletes. Western society would turn its back on the whole spectacle.

Yes it's a drugged society. And everyone smart knows testing only helps contain the problem, not eliminate it.
I am talking about state sponsored high tech/large scale doping, not some dude like Richard Sandrak's dad slipping him dbol in his smoothies. With doping totally "free" it would change things drastically. Fact of the matter is that athletes can't dope like they want to today, it has to be limited to a great extent.
The "dream" of the natural athlete that is so dear to so many would die entirely. Basically kids would have to be told that they're going on drugs as a precondition to any success in any sports and society can't handle that right now. The Olympics would be shut down immediately because of the disgust from the general public.

the public dont really care about people using drugs in sport, in fact if all drugs were totally eradicated and people started running times way short of the world records it would die because no one would watch it, people want to see world records and superhuman feats of performance, they are not going to watch some daft twat who they could beat themselves on a good day

It's true that people want to see the extraordinary. But many of these morons actually believe the testing is mostly successful and records are beaten by clean athletes. These same people would also vote on a law which locked up recreational steroid users in prison because everyone knows steroids are the devil. If you go off troll mode you know completely dropping drug testing would turn these peoples worlds upside down, major disillusion.
