Pop music has, and always will, suck......that's why it's called pop. North America, of course, is renowned for limiting airplay to garbage in lieu of music produced by true artists/musicians.
Do not listen to the radio or, god forbid, watch those idiotic video channels.
The internet has a vast catalog of bands/artists you'll never hear of by any other means. The music being produced today is excellent for the most part.
