Miss Jodi should post her pics here.....that would increase the viewing of this board me thinks..
-
Goudy,
Yes I have been to the Hercules gym, lots of homemade equipment, tons of plates... but very limited shower facilities. It's considered one of the (probably the second) most hardcore gyms in Dublin.
I was there for a bench press competition. I lifted 102.5 kg (226 lbs), but failed the 105 kg (232 lbs)... the powerlifting pause on the chest requirement was killing me. I didn't know that you're supposed to anticipate the clap and was leaving the barbell on my chest for 5 second pauses.
Before people start in on me for a measly 226 lb max bench, please remember that I was only 15 and 151 lbs at the time.
Good to hear we have some fellow Celts on these boards, Goudy.
The Luke

I think if I do post a picture here, then the naysayers will just follow me here and pollute the natural board with their judgmental behavior.
There is a very long thread in the Sex Board section with a ton of my pictures as well as my diatribes.

I hope I wasn't implying that posting female pictures in general would increase viewing, but Miss Jodi as a natural competitor is absolutely stunning.
Her physique is proof of what is possible (naturally) if you put your mind to it. That is what I meant by that statement, nothing derogatory at all.
For the record Miss Jodi, I think your best pics are when your eyes face the camera also. Much can be read in the eyes.

Goudy, for a 19 yr old you definetly have a good build, how much do you weigh now and how much did you weigh before you got into the sport

Yah for a 19 year old man, Goudy your pretty damn impressive I would have to say. How long have u been training?
-
been training 2 years now. like the average fella i onlt really done arms and chest then over time phased in shoulders, back and only now am i really doin legs.
i have a health condition and the time i have been sick in the past 2 years has been maybe 2-3 months and the time i ost there and got smaller due to being sick etc it took another 4-6 months to regain what i lost. so i am pleased with how i am despite my setbacks. cant complain.
cheers for the kind worlds fellas.
im 6'3.5" and 215lbs now. before i ever toughed a weight i was 176lbs at about 6'2" still lean. have genetic 6 pack

Just an idea for the mods, what about having a thread devoted to pics only....similar to Mindspins thread, with no posts.....just pics?
http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=29547.0
We could use this one and delete all the posts except for the first one by Goudy
You can also email me at naughtybouncer@yahoo.com and I can post pics also.

Its a nickname from high school (since I was always bigger then my competitors in track) and the guys I lift with liked it so it stuck. Thanks though, I may not look like a beast but in the weight room I definitely act like one:)

Thanks, and I will always stay natural...personally I think I am too small in these pics and this year I should be looking fuller (hopefully by about 5 pounds)http://. I don't want my face or voice to change and my waist cannot afford to get any wider!
-
i think so, while i am tall i am not partiularly lightboned etc. i just got lucky lol
John, lucky is a understatement with your frame.
-
thank you. thing is whilst my brother and dad are were also similarly built to me prior to weight training they are 5'8 and 5'9. dunno where i got my height from.
both have never touched a weight in their life thi i can tell by lookin at them they have gret genetics. my dad was a great gaelic player and a fantastic hurler. back then both sports were so much more violent and touch, no helmets etc. brpoken bones knocked out teeth was a commodity in the late 60's and early 70s in both sports. especially my dads team lol. full of headcases and my dad was banned for over 6months along with a few others for somehing which happened in a game.
also he smacked 2 fellas cos he hit one of his teammates in front of a huge crowd at a gaelic game and they team walked off cos they sed it was unsportsmanlike lol a real team of hardnuts and characters. too bad so many are dead now from the troubles and other reasons. though he calmed down a lot since he got married etc, tho he still has his funny moments.

here is 2 wierd shots of me. I am all natural also. peace

Wide yeah, thick? Lets just say It's improving rapidly since I started training with the guy at my gym with the thickest back. He's 1 smart cookie and me I'm still learning. If I can just make sure I keep learning everything else will be just fine.

Leave off buddy don'tcha know that un-tidyness is a sign of genius. ;) Anyway I like to look at it this way... Men are less tidy than Women, therefore untidyness is a sexually dimorphic trait, so being untidy is therefore a sign of high pre-fetal testosterone exposure. ;D
-
Its great to see so many natural bodybuilders. I am all for working with the genetics God has given us. I don't think science can do a better job than he can.

You're right though it would've been more tidy if I had've been expecting visitors, then half an hour later it would've looked like this again. ::)

I've been swamped with work and preparing for Junior USA's, so I haven't had hardly any time online, but I did this shoot about three weeks ago and thought I'd add some more recent photos to this thread.
I've been amazed this last year or so at the capabilities my body has shown in my early thirties as opposed to my early twenties. I hold onto muscle much better. I think the biggest key to a successful natural competitor is patience. Allow time to become an ally in your training rather than an enemy. Too many competitors are in a rush to step on stage. The effects of dieting down so strictly too early in your muscle-building career can really eat away at your hard-earned work. I took eight years of powerlifting and solid, consistent weight training before every stepping on stage for the very first time in the 2000 Galaxy.
Best of luck to all the natural athletes on this board. Keep up the good work.

Jodi-good luck at the Junior U's. Your pics look great-I had no idea you were in your thirties or that you were so tiny, I just read you bio. It's too bad you aren't still in Chi-town, it's rare that I see other fit girls in the gym and I wish there were more.
Again good luck!
-
this is an old pic, but it's taken from a news article right before the last of 3 shows i did in a 6-week span. it took me 9 months to lose 75lbs.

Zack,
Those are off season photos. I did that shoot about four weeks ago, before I began dieting down for the Jr. USA's. The very first place to lean out on me is the shoulder and bicep region, so some of the fullness and size disappears as I get closer to competition time unless I'm fully flexed.
This past off season, I kept my diet very consistent and regular. I didn't allow my body to get out of hand, and I lifted moderately heavy to heavy in the gym...legs and upper body. I think in the past few years, I've been concerned about my biceps overpowering my shoulders, so I didn't focus as much on them. If I were going to skip a body part, arms or chest were the choices.
I do three exercises for biceps and three for triceps (right now, I'm doing a tri-set of exercises for triceps). I stick with moderate to moderately heavy weight and do about 10 to 18 reps per set, three sets per exercise. The reps are done slowly...at about a 1-2-3 count, and I squeeze the peak of the bicep at the top of the exercise on each rep until it hurts.
I'm still concerned with my arms overpowering my shoulders on the figure stage. It seems that arms are not an important body part for the figure competition, whereas shoulders tend to dominate the show. So, my mindset switches back and forth between wanting desperately to lift heavy with curls and wanting to keep my biceps in check.

Jodi, those are two very sexy pictures. The combination of you and the photographer really got it right. I am not usually turned on still photos, but there is definitely something intensely sexy about those shots. Great work.

Thank you, Sinbad. It was my first time working with Raymond Jeffus, a photographer from just outside of Dallas. I have another shoot scheduled with him in a couple of weeks.

Impressive offseason condition of course.
Your rep range for biceps looks interesting. Will definitely look into it.
I've always thought that physique judges were dickheads. 8)
Stick arms are in fashion I guess. Good luck with that and the wide ass shoulders.

I change up my bicep workouts on a whim. As I said, my arms aren't a lagging body part, so I like having the freedom to be creative and impulsive. I used to write down weeks in advance what my workouts would be. I've learned to trust instinct when it comes to my body. If I totally let go and quit worrying about every little thing, my instincts become very strong and very accurate.
Here's a bicep workout I've done:
Alternating dumbbell curls on an incline bench (the bench is set at about 70-degrees or so): 3 x 15
supersetted with
Hammer dumbbell curls on the same incline bench: 3 x failure (usually about 12 reps depending upon the weight I choose).
The key is to keep the shoulders and head back rather than forward and off the bench.
Standing barbell curls: 3 x 10 (I'll change up the grip...it might be a wider grip if I'm using a close grip on the following exercise.)
Lying cable curls, close grip on the bar: 3 x drop set (starting off with a very heavy weight that I can only do 10 to 12 and then dropping two to three times along the stack).
Okay...that's all of my secrets I'm going to give out. If you want more, I insist on my $12.95! ;D LMAO!

no disrespect....but why did you compete? i mean...,couldnt you have waited till youve trianed for at least a couple of years.
I decided to compete as I thought I could do well.In 2004 I won The NPA Central England Novice Title,in 2005 I won the NPA Heart of England Over 78 kg class, placed second in the South East and won the couples, placed 5th in the British Finals in the over 78s and won the couples and then represented Britain in the UIBBN World Championships in Paris placing 4th in the couples. How many shows have you won or even competed in???
-
People choose to compete for a vast array of reasons. Not everyone is desperate to be freaky huge. Some just want to achieve their own bar of excellence in size and conditioning. Some want to log the experience in their book of life. Some use competing as a stepping stone to other opportunities or as a milestone.
I've been guilty before of looking at a competitor on stage who doesn't meet the industry's "standards" of what should be on stage only to later find out that this person lost 60 pounds or more or had a baby in the past year or went through a tough time with a loss of a loved one.
Let's sit back and understand that not everyone is "going for the gold." Some people just enjoy setting up a challenge for themselves and then meeting and even beating their own expectations.
That being said, I do think that the pros in our industry do need to be held to a particular standard, for they are competing for money and can/do represent the epitome of what the industry should be.

Not at the moment.I am currently about 2 stone heavier in ok condition(waist up to 32 inches though from 28 contest).I will try to get some sorted though.

I agree, your conditioning looks great...its good that you have put on some size as long as you are hitting it hard in the weight room. Good luck and don't let the a**holes get to you ;)

Thanks Beast :) I am taking this year off from competition to hopefully add some size.Just hitting heavy basics at the moment and strength levels are certainly increasing which,I believe,is a good sign. The problem I found last year was maintaining size while dieting-my upper body comes in really quickly but legs are more of a problem.I did not really have striated glutes until the British after 22 weeks dieting but it was my first full year of competition so still on a learning curve.Next target is top three in the over 78 kg class at the British 2007.

do the math you scrawny idiot.
-
The picture I saw of you was a 5'4" tall idiot who weights 190 pounds of lard. Am I close?
-
never competed as im waiting to do so untill i actually look like a boniied bodybuilder.....maybe about 230 shredded.
Sorry to dissappoint you but unless you are 6 ft 4 in. or have the worlds best genetics then you will never compete at 230 shredded-remember Dexter Jackson is only about 220-225 ripped to the bone.I suggest you go to a few natural contests to see what the standard is like. The biggest guys as last years NPA British Championships weighed about 185-190 lbs.Check out this photo-the winner on the left,Kevin Skelland, went on to win the under 85 kg class at the UIBBN World Championships in Paris. Also remember that when you diet naturally you will lose some muscle as well as the fat so dont have too high expectations.Just come in as shredded as possible and don't worry about bodyweight-you will look bigger on stage in great condition even if you look small in clothes.

Johono, how old are you?
-
Johono, how old are you?
good question. I was thinking the same thing about you, ant.
-
I'm 29. Just curious, since Johono said he was a natural and he looks 40+... So I think the whole "your natural test dips off at 35" farce is a load of hooey. It might reduce, but with proper diet and keeping yourself fit you can still keep the muscularity without drugs.
-
40+-you cheeky bugger ;D I'm 37 but look older due to the severe dieting-it makes you look a bit drawn-well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :-\ Last year was my first full year of competition so I guess I am a late starter but there are many good naturals in their 40s and even 50s.I think it is possible to keep improving as long as you live the lifestyle and keep it clean.

well i dont plan on staying natural...but i am right now so thats why im postig here. plus..im only 16, and only have about 40lbs of muscle left to gain to reach that mark. so maybe i do have pretty good genetics i dont knwo.
-
Or its a sign you have no women visiting you in your room...;)
There looks to be a bottle of jack lube on the dresser ;D

It's probably best to train naturally until you're at least 21-22.Your test levels will be high anyway so make the most of them.I have heard that the longer you train naturally then the better gains you make when you finally go to 'the dark side'.If you have good genetics then make the most of them-train hard and eat right. You may not need drugs to build a great physique-check out the pics of Baby Hercules for a bit of inspiration.

Took a few newer pics.

;D
I'd bet i'm a bit stronger than you in most lifts, and I don't even have the comfort of 40 extra pounds of blubber ;D.
-
Sheeeeiiiitttt........no w its getting deep in here. Besides, it's not 40, it's 20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've already lost the first 20. ;D
-
You aren't used to training while lean, I bet you'll zap most of your "strength" you have. I on the other hand haven't been over 10 percent in 4 years, so bring it ladyboy ;D.
-
Actually it has been going really good strengthwise. For losing 20 lbs and doing cardio 3 days a week I haven't lost any so far and have actually gone up on a few back exercises. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
But when it does eventually drop bet I am still stronger than you. ;)
Legs we may be even. You look pretty strong there plus with your martial arts background I bet their stronger than they look.....
Back gotcha pretty easily, same with chest.....
Shoulders, close but I am guessing I would take them.......
Abs are yours obviously.....
Arms, thats also probably close with your arts, I would guess I might have you on tris and you have me on bis.....but arms are a weakpoint for me sizewise, but they are pretty strong.
As for smile and looks, I have you blown out of the water ;D
-
You may have me in the "smile" mandatory, but you forget... I've seen your pictures ;D.

you sound like you're speaking from experience, but you just said you're 29... lol

Notice the words "might" and "I think"... Hence I do not know from experience.
-
Be careful what you say in these "I'm stronger than you" pissing contests, as you might soon have to prove it.
Gimme a month or so guys and our max lift avi challenge threads (as discussed in the pm I sent out) will be up and running. Goudy already videoed himself doing some pretty monstrous deadlifts... so better get videoing yourselves if you want to participate.
For anyone (naturals only) who is interested, the rules will be as follows...
-all lifts must be verified by a video link.
(cell/mobile phone videos will be acceptable as long as the plates can be counted, freebie servers are also acceptable as GetBig is already short of bandwidth)
-form should be tight as we don't want to encourage dieselweasel form on squats and deadlifts
-at least one entry from all participants will be posted, following that all personal bests for each participant will be posted
I'll be policing these threads myself... so there'll be no negative "bwa-hahaha", "monster triceps" or "what a beast" comments.... even if that means locking the threads.
The categories will be:
-Best Barbell Flat Bench Press for 5 reps
-Best Barbell Back Squat for 5 reps
-Best Barbell Floor Deadlift for 5 reps
...and one special category:
-The Platz Challenge: 315 lbs for the most reps possible (special prize for anyone who can do 50 reps, though anyone who manages even one clean rep will make the roll of honour)
Coming soon guys...
The Luke

If you are referring to me and blubber boy it is mostly in jest. I'm not a powerlifter/bodybuilder, I couldn't give a rats ass how strong I am. I train to be healthy and to help in the sport I participate. Plus i'd personally never bring a video camera into a gym...

Ya know when you drained your ears with that syringe I think you stuck it in too far and damaged what you did have in between your ears....

Actually T levels don't "naturally" decline. Though there are extreme drops in the T-Levels of some individuals caused by drugs eg cigarettes. It is not age but rather prolonged exposure to substances which are toxic to leydig cells which causes some peoples T levels to drop. Other individuals show perfectly healthy T levels in their later years. However the smokers low T scores pull down the average which is why some of the more stupid medical people are still debating the issue.

So you are saying a 70 year old man that never smoked or drank will have the same T levels as a 20 year old?
