I don't buy it. Robert Downey Jr. is getting points on every movie he plays iron man in.  I heard got north of 50 million for each avengers.

Unless they are talking total... He is in a grapefruit load of movies

Actually it does make sense.. no one under 25 knows who Pacino and De nero are. It's the same way in which Justin Beiber sold more albums than (fill in any talented musician from the past).

Pacino and De Nero are actually "actors" in the true sense of the word, they can play any role.  The Rock as one or two roles that he can play, with that said with this media/twitter/instagram/facebook look at me generation he will bring more of them to the movies than a good Pacino would

His acting is fine. No better or worse than 90% of other actors since it isn't really that difficult a skill.

Rock is a great entertainer like arnold, he's a decent enough actor but he has charisma and personality that he brings to his movies like arnold. That's why both have now held the crown of highest paid actor

Sad state of affairs when such an actor can bypass legends like Pacino, Deniro, Day Lewis etc etc

They should really be rewarded for their craft.

Only roles Rock can do are action and tooth-fairy comedy-roles. Not quite as multifaceted and Pacino , DeNiro et al...

The Rock is typecast as a the big, juiced up action hero since he is a big juiced up guy. As he gets older, I think he might start taking more "diverse" roles and surprise a few people.
Acting isn't some complex science that only a select few are capable of doing. Hollywood seems to have done a good job convincing the public that this is the case though.

Deniro, Pacino etc etc, all excellent actors BUT what we are missing is action stars.

Back in the 80's and 90's we had Jean Claude, Arnold, Stallone, Steven Segal, Bruce Willis and a few others.

Fast forward to today we have Rock & Jason Statham.......will Rock ever win an Oscar, Acdemy Award etc?? Prob not but he fills the action movie gap

Why is everybody surprised at this. It's always been this way. Tom cruise cannot act his way out of a wet paper bag yet was the highest paid actor. So was that steroid bloated Austrian bodybuilder. It's the action stars that make the big bucks. Not the so called great actors that use method acting, which is over rated by the way.
