I completely disagree with your take on Portia and Ellen's relationship. They are married and what they have accumulated together is likely community property just like other married couples. Also, just like other married folks, sometimes one partner has a bigger income then the other. By your estimation, folks only hook up for what they can materially get out of a relationship. Does it make a difference whether they are gay or straight?
Additionally, Ellen hardly looks to me like someone with a sour face. In fact, both my wife and I find Ellen very attractive looking. Hmm.....could this be why she is paid really big bucks to sell women's make up? A woman shouldn't have to dress like a slut or a fairy princess to look attractive. Ellen looks fine in jeans. There are a lot of women out there who could improve their appearance by emulating Ellen's style.
