Like I've said numerous times before. They want your guns and they'll do everything to get them.
They can try, but they'll never get them and they're more likely to receive a round in the head. The "long game" is much more likely: indoctrination in the schools, media and entertainment as to the evil that guns in the hands of Citizens (guns in the hands of the government are A-OK). That's been the plan for 40 years. The problem for progressives is that many of the cultural subdivisions of the USA aren't falling prey to their propaganda at the rate that the government needs. Hence the need to demonize entire cultural swaths, like the whole stupid Confederate Flag kerfuffle.
Also, progressive economic theory is about to go tits-up along with the shibboleth that is Global Warming™, so the progressives are getting desperate. There is no way that socialism can be fully imposed on an armed Citizenry. Expect something brash and stupid that will allow me to go hunting for democrats.
