I know he doesn't compete anymore, but it's been years since I've seen video or footage of him working out there.
After Ronnie lost to Jay Cutler, Brian Dobson said that Ronnie lost because he didn't come around to Metro Flex anymore and he lost all his fire. He said that Ronnie only trained in his home gym.

I think that may have had something to do with it. At one time Ronnie was the big dog in the yard, but near the end of his career guys like Branch and Kluco were out lifting him.

anybody with the chance to have a homegym like ronnie 30seconds away from your kitchen would be a coplete retard to drive to a fucked up place like metroflex to work out

That it was Brian who came to train at Ronnies homegym?
-
Brian convinced Ronnie to take steroids and become a bodybuilder in exchange for free gym membership at metroflex.
He says so in this video starting at 3:25

Have you worked out for a long period of time at home?
Have you worked out for a long period of time at the gym?
There's a difference most people feel between the two places. At home you get too comfortable and you become lazy with your training and the intensity isn't there.
At the gym, especially a hardcore gym like Metro Flex, you get fired up to lift with a great amount of intensity and to lift heavy. Going to the gym and lifting in front of other lifters takes you out of the comfort zone and puts you on the spot to perform.
I guarantee you that Ronnie wasn't squatting and deadlifting 800 lbs. at his home gym. That was something he did when he went to battle at Metro Flex on those hot ass Texas summer days.

blabla
every serious athlete in a serious sport works out in his own trainings camp
do you think the dallas mavericks should come over to metroflex to work out too?
it all depends on the athletes work ethic
if he doesn t pul it at home ,he won t everywhere
don t compare the best to your self if you need pussys to wath you to work hard that doesn t mean other do
i worked out for years in small weight room like yate s basement gym , after that i had to work out in a commercial gym for 5 years now, and if i had the chance to choose, working out at home or in a lonely gym on my on , i would tkae the last option
-
Ronnie lost to Jay because his back was fucked up. That's the only reason. Has nothing to do with training at home.

Why would Retirement Ronnie drive over to Metro with his current travel schedule? I'm guessing Dopson misses having him around for a couple of laughs and ole school stories. Yes, JOJ, Kulco and Branch would keep me entertainted too. ::) Ronnie got old and married and moved on, Brain.

That's why you'll never be 1st place or at the top of the food chain like Ronnie or myself.
Places like Metro Flex have some unseen power that draw in Alpha Males like myself and Ronnie in. We yearn for the challenge and do battle in the weight room.
Champions are built in:
-High School Weight Rooms
-College Weight Rooms
-Hardcore Gyms
However, I don't expect someone like you to understand this. Only a champion can hear the calling of the weight room.

Yep, its a great gym. But most of us don't have rich daddies, an under amour sponsorship and a full blown PR team behind us. That being said, we still get the same results as they do. You're

Ronnie was already on his way out when he started training at home. Could he have become Mr. Olympia training at home from the beginning? It's possible, but he'd probably have to make it a little more hardcore and less health club looking.

Brian is talking out of his ass. Ronnie lost because Father Time caught up with him. He's almost 50 years old.

Working Out at Metro Flex
i have much higher intensity when working out at home. i don't know why but i can just better ignore my surroundings when i'm in a comfortable environment and just concentrate on lifting. not only that, i can take as much time as i want and not feel rushed when using a bench as in a gym there are always 5 guys asking "hey bro how many sets left" or whatever.
also, they always play lady gaga at every gym i've ever been to. i can't lift to that shit man

Working Out at Metro Flex
I think there are certain lifts Stan can top Ronnie in, given he is a power-lifter 1st, but there is no way Stan could stay with this Ronnie (5 weeks out) in 100 degree Arlington heat with the poundage and volume combined. What the hell was Ronnie lifting when he was adding size 5 months out?
-
Doesn't matter where Ronnie trained. Injuries are injuries. Brian is just mad that Metroflex is not in the "media" like it was before.

Exactly. Hit the nail on the head. The one thing I found to alleviate that home comfort effect is to not train in your house. My equipment is in my garage and back porch. Its like literally when I go into my garage to train I'm walking into a completely different world. There is nothing of comfort in there. And I try to stay in there the whole time too. If I had access to a Metroflex or Temple gym near me, believe me I'd be there in a second. Pure fitness, Lifetime, LA fitness :-X And all I have is bare bones equipment: Squat rack, Dbells, Pullups, Walking Bbell lunges out back(not in the aerobics studio at the gym)etc, so I'm forced to stay basic and get creative. Best workouts I've ever had were at home. If you are truly lifting for the right reasons and not to impress chicks or to be the gym screamer/weight slammer/attention whore, then you wouldn't give a fuck if all you had was an old dp concrete weight set(you old fuckers know what I'm talking about) ;) I also live in arizona so I get to experience 100 degree+ training. Now that's def a gut checker right there.
HEY!!!! If any or you Arizona getbiggers read this, are there any Metro/Temple type gyms anywhere in the valley. I know theres a metroflex opening in the NW valley.

I knew it would be you that would know. Fukn lol ;D

Heavy training was what made Yates numero uno, and was also what destroyed him. It was probably a smart move from Ron to decide to train at home, once he got the cash to buy a decent home gym.

And just look at the equipment he has. I would shit solid Gold bricks if I had that on my property. His home gym has better equipment than some commercial gyms I've been to.

My first set of weights was a DP gold vinyl covered set ............. cement filled. ;D

Oh it's still in the "media"...now it's known for douchebaggery, aka throwing of weights, half ass training with a lot of yelling...The legend of Ronnie built the place, and he had the physique to match... Branch and JOJ are missing bodyparts, and kuclo has the muscle, but looks like a glazed dounut.

Haha! Me too. I still remember my dad bringing them home from some yard sale and I was like: "with these weights and my can of MLO Mus-L-Blast, I will be Yates' size in weeks" ;D Ignorance was bliss my friend.
