A newest trend is taking Asian countries by storm: meat-eating fish are being used to beautify feet. Large tanks holding hundreds of small meat-eating fish are used to remove calluses, dry skin and scales leaving feet feeling smooth like baby skin. The fish, nicknamed Doctor Fish, were discovered in Turkey nibbling at the dead and diseased skin of bathers. All that’s required for get a fish spa, is to remove shoes and socks and pre-wash feet to avoid poisoning the fish.
Then dip your feet in the tank and the fish will begin their frenzy nibbling between your toes, under your feet, your heels and around your ankles. The whole process takes about 20 minutes or so, depending how much dead skin and scales your have on your feet and people who have had the treatment describe it as ticklish, pain free and exciting.
