Dexter Jackson - how much taxes did he pay for his 2 wins
« on: September 26, 2015, 02:01:41 PM »
He earned 250k in Vegas and 40k in Madrid(Spain) so how much taxes did he pay and how it works? I heard that in Vegas Uncle Sam takes almost 60% of your price money

Because Chris Aceto & Dave Palumbo we're discussing this topic briefly.... and Neymar watches their RXmuscle video's and gets his ideas and topics from those two

The highest fed tax rate in the US is about 40%. Plus if he has state tax where he lives. So it could be up to 50% combined. Uncle Sam did not get 60%, not sure which gay bath house you heard that rumor in.

The prize money ought to simply count as income, in which case Dexter is paying ~$88k in taxes to Uncle Sam, assuming he takes the standard deduction and exemption (which may well not be the case).

Exactly it is added to whatever his total income is and taxed accordingly less deductions. If his main residence is in Florida and he won the money in Nevada neither state has an income tax so he is just liable to the feds. The same holds true for his OUS winnings.

no seriously, this is why am asking about taxes, cause the Olympia money sounds great, but in the end when you pay the taxes what remains,an average 1 year salary,i mean this is great money but this means that this ifbb pros are really struggling with money

If he made $300,000 his federal taxes are estimated at $80,904.
This is 26.97% of his estimated  total income of $300,000.

If he made $400,000 his federal taxes are estimated at $115,612.
This is 28.9% of his total income of $400,000.

The above is computed with 0 deductions and I  could be wrong due to lack of information.

State taxes are not included.

The jeep is different than a "cash" prize.

With cash, like 50k, you can set aside of portion of that for taxes ( or they take it up front...not sure)
With the Jeep, you get an item and have to pay taxes, out of your pocket, for the value of that item.  Unless you sell that jeep and pay the taxes out of the sale price...youre paying out of pocket

Depends how crafty his tax person is.  Since this is his living and is considered entertainment he might be able to write off his sup and gym fees.

Yes, Im sure he pays for supplements and his gym membership  ::).

But, travel room and board whilst in LA and Vegas, likely Spain as well are all covered. Can write off gear, but schmoe sessions are likely cash transactions and easy to not claim.

All of his travel expenses and meals too.  Does he charge for signing autographs?.. he probably doesn't claim that.
