Actually no, even though the 20th century was quite bloody, it still was not as bad as preceding centuries. We remember the major wars because of the larger numbers of casualties, but tend to forget that prior to that many countries were in a near perpetual state of war, even if not called as such. Also death tolls in wars are fewer than ever, per combatant. These days you get shot and likely survive. Back in the day you got a nasty cut and would likely die of infection.
