Intended damage was 20 years in prison for this innocent man.
If it can become a criminal offence, they should stand to face the same prison sentence the man would have faced.
If a civil suit, he should be able to sue for damages, which would have been 20 years of salary and emotional hardship due to tarnished reputation.
As it is, his reputation is already tarnished. Though he's obviously innocent, there are bumblefucks out there who will presume he must have done something wrong. And were he an executive with a company, the company would have found a way to "restructure" him out of the company for all the bad PR raining down on the firm.
It's evil, and evil needs to be punished and dealt with swiftly. Put another way, it's almost like rape...the women sought to take everything that man ever had away from him and leave him with nothing but a ruined empty life through aggressive use of force and coersion. Isn't that really what rape is?
They deserve to rot in a cell.
