lets also not forget things like redemption, rehabilitation, and the fact that he is an American Citizen who has paid for his crimes and gone on to better his life and work toward the betterment of other people's lives.

Like I said, I like the guy. However, on paper he is just another ex-con. It could have weighed in on the decision, who knows?
