All of them. If u are training with free weights u are training your core. You can't squat or deadlift without your core.

THE MOVES
Hold for the times specified on the top-right, then switch sides.

1  KNEELING SIDE BRIDGE
Lie on your side with your forearm on the floor and your elbow under your shoulder, your knees bent at 90 degrees. Contract your glutes and keep your abs stiff throughout. Raise your hips until your torso is straight from shoulders to knees.

2  SIDE BRIDGE
Lie on your side with your forearm on the floor under your shoulder, and your feet stacked together. Contract your glutes and abs. Push your hip off the floor, creating a straight line from ankle to shoulder and keeping your head in line with your spine.

3  ELEVATED SIDE BRIDGE
Same setup as you use for the side bridge, but stack your feet on a bench. Don’t allow your hips to sag.

So, hamstrings aren't aren't part of your core?

They play an important role in posture, but officially they aren't part of the core.

"Officially"?  Some do consider them a part of the core, some don't.  The "core" is not just simply the abdominal muscles.  You have to consider the muscles that make up the posterior chain.  You should consider the core the muscles of the abdominals, hips, and glutes as your core.

at the end of the day.. you have to train all the antagonist/agonist muscles to avoid imbalance and injuries...this is more important to me..

Or call it "formally *" LOL,
But serious, Coach brings a good point with his question. I agree that we should answer this question, by looking at the posterior functions, not just the anatomy.

* "In anatomy, the core refers, in its most general of definitions, to the body minus the legs and arms." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Core_(anatomy)

funny how you guys make fun like it's not a necessity. Weak "core" leads to all kinds of problems. Just because someone has good 'abs' doesn't mean they have a strong core.
