Why are posing trunks getting smaller and smaller?  Who is advocating or encouraging this?  What do fans and judges want to see in this first pic that they can’t see in the second pic?

We need to go back to the days of Bill Pearl in terms of posing trunks.  If you are in shape people can see that.  Smaller trunks are not going to help.  Why do so many of today’s competitors choose smaller trunks.  I do not want to see body builders in thongs on stage.

i remember at my old apartment i used to have a poster of ronnie and arnold,, when people looked at the arnold one they were like ''that dudes jacked'' then when they looked at the ronnie one they would call me a fag for having that on my wall.. i had to take ronnie down..

I doubt the pros would be called out for whatever they wear.  Ronnie has gotten away with flipping the backs of his trunks up to reveal more of his glutes, which is a prohibited move in the NPC (you will be called on it from the head judge).  The NPC states your back trunks should be 3/4 over your glutes (although national competitors often don't follow this), & says the trunks must be "decent" but doesn't define what that means.  I recall that Lou Ferrigno came onstage at the Masters Olympia in old style trunks, & got made fun of by other competitors.
